1. plus since its Yates, who knows what recruit(s) will show up next fall.
 2. and only 2 seniors: #23 (primary perimeter threat, until #3 came on the scene) and #25.  Next Year.........ouch!
 3.
Yates was very impressive.  Until late in the game they kept at least 3 guys 6'6" on the court.  Had a 6'9" guy who didn't play until garbage time.  #25 was just a beast down low.  Freshman comes in and just rains 3s.
and the fact that they can be that tall AND run all day is huge
 4.

Definitely so when you see a Brookshire Royal get to move to region 4 and end up in Austin. Just the luck of the draw.
And Brookshire Royal lost to Navasota, Kingwood Park and Coldspring !!! You called it, luck of the draw ... Poor Silsbee, smh
Yates vs Brookshire Royal, Thursday, @ 3pm at The Frank Erwin Center. Poor BR
 5. #3 who drained all those 3's for Yates is listed in the program as a 9th grader. If Yates develops a serious perimeter shooting threat they will go to another level.
 6.
Looks like the real regional title game was played on that same court Tuesday night.
that's exactly what I thought mid-second qtr. Yates owes a big thank you to Silsbee for the wake up call.
 7.

If Silsbee plays Yates 10 times, Silsbee loses all 10...Now AAW you said yourself that you would "rather not" ever play them again, right? Now in my book, that is the DEFINITION of NO CHANCE at winning against them....No they are not the team they were a few years ago, which would have been WORSE, but they are still just better...at this point.  Do not know what the future teams may bring, but for now, there is NO CHANCE. ;)
Nope. To be accurate, I stated I was a bit torn on the subject of playing Yates. Part of me wants redemption for Silsbee in a game they definitely had a CHANCE to win. Part of me feels like getting a rematch could possibly be worse. The "no chance" comments are ludicrous. Particularly from folks who did not attend the game. ;) ::)
I posted earlier that Yates would win 24 out of 25 times. And I continue to believe that. But the most curious thing about separating personal bias from disinterested opinion (which of course can also be wrong) are the unstated assumptions. Your comments about wanting a rematch and then pausing with "maybe not" is very very rare. A great example is how some on here look at the missed point-blank shots and the 3's and think things like, "If we'd just clean those up next time...." without even realizing (because they carry so much personal bias/loyalty/investment)that  they never pause to think, "You know, next time Yates might just rotate someone back when the PG drives the lane or crashes the offensive boards and we just might not get 6 or 8 Hail Marys resulting in uncontested layups, cuz, you know, Coach Wise might not be everything, but a poor coach he ain't." That simply never occurs to people. Their bias just lets them assume "next time we'll get all the good things, and hopefully we can clean up the bad things."  Human nature is such an interesting thing.
 8. Lots of angst posted about Silsbee's poor 3-pt shooting and misses up close. How much would y'all attribute that to Yates length and quickness and (to Yates' detriment at times) decision to contest with pressure everywhere all the time? I noticed #32 rushed his tip-ins attempts and always pump-faked every single inside contested shot. Lots of thinking going on there. Thinking impedes performance at some point. I think Silsbee was very very "aware" of Yates' inside athleticism. Changing shots subtlely. That explains a lot about the poor shooting from point-blank. Maybe not all but a lot in my mind. Also Yates' style challenges every shot everywhere, again, with length and quickness. I don't recall more than 3 or 4  uncontested catch-and-shoot 3's attempted by Silsbee. Is my recollection flawed? The old cliche is that maybe, just maybe, Yates had more to do with that poor performance than some homers admit. Strange how teams underperform offensively regularly against Yates. Why is that? Do they all have bad nights coincidentally? FT's are more a handling pressure thing.

Hey, but whatever you have to do to win state championships, you do I guess... Great win tonight Yates. I was impressed with your 3 point shooting and your Free throw shooting! Silsbee, maybe we should start recruiting players from other countries and states!? Naww it's ok. We will just play it the right way :). Great season silsbee. Love y'all.
::) ::)...FACT #1: They have not lost to a 3A team all season.....FACT#2: SILSBEE will definitely not win a state title! ;).....I think that they just might have a SHOT to win a 3A state title....Conventional wisdom tells me THAT much... ::) ::)
Ok.. In my above statement did I say they have lost to any 3A team? NO. I said they will not win state. Dallas Madison will beat them if they meet. Yates will not win state. A little small town like silsbee shouldn't be able to compete with that.
A bitter post that morphs into a moral victory post. Cool
No.. It's not a moral victory. We lost and that's it. No excuses any all. Yates foreign exchange students and other recruits hit free throws and our small city boys missed theirs. Quite simple buddy. Cool
OK, it didn't even rise to the level of a moral victory. I think you're shortchanging the Silsbee effort, though

 12.
Yates shot great from three point land and the free throw line. Some said that Silsbee better not try to run with them or it would be a blowout. That was wrong. Yates press did not bother Silsbee, but Silsbee's press worked pretty well causing lots of Yates turnovers. Great game by both teams.
"run with Yates and you lose" is still accurate.
 13.
Two great teams going head to head but it was allot closer at the two minute mark then most  would  have thought
excellent example of a moral victory post. More?
 14. will the SE TX folk post anything other than this now? Will they admit that all the folks who told them at realignment time (and ever since) that they were wrong and the Yates realists were right? Will they accept the challenge the Yates fans on here asked if they'd be around to discuss the game 24 hrs later? Will there a be ANY pro-SE TX posts that do not contain the word "IF?"

Please show me where I have said anything negative about any of the Yates players or coaches.(  The only thing I have stated about the team many times is that they acquire their players in a different manner than most everyone against whom they compete)  Furthermore, what is it exactly that makes you so much better qualified to "talk matchups, strategy, exploitable opportunities or common opponents?
elaboration: leading up to the game it was clear you didn't have faith (your logic prevailed) that HJ could beat Yates. That's why every post of yours that I recall was focused on Yates' recruiting. Nothing I recall about matchups, strategy, exploitable opportunities or common opponents. Actually, I was complimenting your hoop knowledge that it didn't allow you to hold out false hope that HJ could beat Yates, even tho you surely HOPED they could. Understand now?
especially when his stats would be in the notoriously weak HJ schedule. Stats are only useful -- if that -- for getting someone on the radar screen of the right people. But I really do tire of the talk here and everywhere about all these kids when they are tremendously successful in theri own "pond" and people instantly say, "yeah, but at the next level..." I prefer to enjoy them while they're here. Same with Heisman trophy winners (Archie Griffin, et al) who get that while the flash bulbs are still warm. (Yeah, I know. Ancient reference, but I'm old)

 20.
Yates by 9
at end of third qtr. then, Yates really gets going (in distance running this is called a "negative split") and the ball handlers for the opposition get tired/sloppy/a step slower.....then disaster. If Silsbee's strength and depth is guard play, then they could hang with Yates for most of the game, maybe even the whole game. Of course that depends what "hang with" means. I mean stay within 12. Think about this, how well can Silsbee's best ball handler off the bench handle Yates pressure when he's tired? And Yates length is most problematic when they trap and press. a Little less so when playing half court offense. Although #25's seal-and-quick-spin moves deep in the paint are impressive...especially the QUICK part. If Yates hits their 3's anywhere near 35%+ its lights out for the opposition. Bottom line: Yates could beat Silsbee 24 out of 25 times (for comparison, HJ would win, say, 1 out of 50) Will tonight be that 1/25? Nope, but that's why they play the game. The worst factor for Silsbee is if they think they can run with Yates. Yates BEGS teams to "throw them in that briar patch."

If they hit they re free throws so be it.  Which is a lower percentage than a dunk of those 2nd half field goal percentages how many were actually 10 ft and beyond jump shots?
who cares how many were 10+ ft? This is incredible, matched only by the HJ fan sitting behind me that said after each Yates dunk, "What's the big deal? Look how tall he is. He SHOULD be able to dunk like that." OK, he didn't say it after every Yates' dunk. He stopped after the 9th or 10th one. DeNIAL. Bitter. Y'all should've listened when all of us with even passing familiarity with Yates hoops said it would end for them like this way back when alignments were announced.  Really. Y'all shoulda
