Remember the end of the Lancaster game. Mid-major signees (pg and two posts) destroyed Bellaire in fourth qtr....by attacking that achilles heel.

Middling performance. Combine that with BIG down years by NF & Crosby and you're middle-of-the-pack. Mediocre. Another typical BH hoops season.

Coming full circle, the first poster captured the real reason BH fans are disappointed now: the creampuff non-district schedule/record --  esp the way they rig their own tourney year-in and year-out -- set unrealistic expectations.

It's nothing against Silsbee, because nobody in this area can put up 170 on anyone. If you are from Silsbee, don't be offended because scoring 170 is an extremely difficult task. Also, I remember hearing of a story where a coach's team scored 100 points on a "special needs" school and he lost his job over it. I believe that is wrong. However, I don't believe running up the score on a school who has just as many students as Yates, who go to a school in the same city as Yates and are all healthy young men just like the kids at Yates. Let's see: 6'8" guy dribbling in the paint vs 6'3" non-leapers: what's wrong with that picture?). And even if they cannot shoot well, I only imagine the wreckage on other teams they could create if they worked the ball inside with all those leapers. And all the offensive rebounds. And owning the defensive boards if they'd block out. The other teams would foul out or one extra pass would result in many a layup/dunk. Then there is the level of defense (where games are REALLY won) those athletes could play, with a 6'8" guy in the paint to compensate for the overplaying you could get from the others, esp that 6'3" superquick sg. And even I will not blame the coach for lack of weight room time for a kid who transferred only 2 months prior to the season. That part SURE ain't coach-related. Anyway, I don't want to focus too much on this one kid. The problems with the 6'8" kid is only ONE of the MULTIPLE things I identify as coaching related at Crosby that run thorughout the whole scheme over there.

If its any consolation, Goose Creek over Crosby last night demonstrates that no one in 19-4A underperforms their talent level (poor coaching) more than Crosby. Unbelievable.

Thanks GMCPats, I had read and digested that article into my perseption of BH expectations already but had forgotten the specifics. But there also was a recurring poster at end of last season and maybe a little later who was touting BH hoops out of all proportion like these guys. He jumped in whenever (may have started a thread or 2) re: "Favs for next yr/upcoming season" or some such thing.

This will be a no surprises district race. Only question is if Kingwood Park can upset BH at home later this season before finishing 2nd to a VERY good BH team. The other teams are weak to very weak. Even GCM might get a playoff game this yr.

I've got some some major differences with Hicks on some subjects, but here he's exactly correct.
