1. Unless you see squealing pink pigs soaring in the skies, Coldspring will breeze through their remaining games, this one included.
 2.
I hate the 7:00 kickoffs. Maybe cause I was in Smokepit, Texas aka West Texas heat. Sun goes down a little more if you start at 7:30
Agreed about sun in the visitors' eyes unless we're the home team. Ah but seriously, it's still hot at 7, and with Gore's climate change, it's going to get worse ;) ;)
 3. I wanted to make the Newton/Silsbee game, but someone told me that Kountze game will be good.
I think you'll enjoy the speed of the Warren kid.
 4. Going with the Longhorns this week. It's their Homecoming, & they've shown some promise--just have to stop the big plays. I think it will be a good game.

 7. I'm disappointed that Cleveland has not better developed, or perhaps utilized, their athleticism. I thought they had the talent to be winning these games.

I  have not seen Silsbee this year, so anything I say would be guessing. I have seen Cleveland and Ican tell you this, we are young on defense, mostly sophomores, but don't let that fool you. offense looked pretty good this week against CC. We have a group of young men that are working hard together like they should. Nothing will be a blow out or easy. I'm just saying it's going to be a good game. Don't compair last year, when Silsbee still didn't blow out a team that sucked. we had reed that already knew he was going to UT and didn't want to get hurt, so his playing was light, the Ross twins, i'm not even sure what your talking about. One of them was on the side line the entire season with a broken leg and the other, well i guess he couldn't do much with a team that sucked. lol anyway get ready for a good game. Roll Tribe............
good excuse. ive never heard of anyone playing worse on purpose once they have a scholorship. That makes alot of sense.
I don't pretend to know why Reed played hard on one play and just seemed to sit the next one out, but that's what I observed last year.  I hope that he does great at UT this year, but his performance last year didn't portend the hard work it will take to meet UT's expectations.  Just saying...

Up here in the country we need the rain and I have plenty of rain gear to sit and watch football in. ;D
As much as I want to watch some Friday night football, we need the rain so much that I'll continue doing a little rain dance and will take the rain whenever we get it.  Just keep the thunderbolts away!
Very true.  But in these games, not only the players, but the cheerleaders, band, drill teams and the fans.  These conditions are dangerous for all.
I hope coaches & refs work out additional  or longer hydration breaks. The predicted temps are indeed dangerous.

 15. Quite some time ago, talk was that the State would make small districts consolidate, & of course, Tarkington/Cleveland was discussed as was Tarkington/Hardin. Even though consolidation makes fiscal sense, IMO, this is the first talk I've heard of this now. It would not be popular in either community...loss of identity never is. And most importantly, sports should be the last reason to make this type change...again IMHO.
 16. About HB 400. I'm not pleased with all of it, but it makes public edu more like private business. We have to stay w/in our means & have proven results (accountability). That said, if teachers are abused, two things will happen:  people will leave the profession or teacher unions will get a foothold in TX.  IMHO, there will be a huge teacher shortage in a couple of years because the young folks will turn to other professions & older folks will be retiring. Then, the state will have to sweeten the pot to attract new teachers. In the meantime public edu will try to do more with less, but it can't do that indefinitely.
 17.
ding ding ding we have a winner!  wackpack wins wackpack wins!!!!
Tamulonghorn, your post is as incongruous as your screen name ;)
 18. We're beating a dead horse to death. Coaches will be trimmed at some schools more than others. This year because schedules are set, there will be sports as usual but no new uniforms or coaches' shoes/clothes. Kids will have to pay for some equipment. Tournaments this year?  Will they be curtailed?  What do y'all think? The following year--if the budget costs are slashed badly--expect fewer preseason games, especially far away ones; few or no tournaments; etc. But I am betting we'll have district games.
 19.
Huffman is losing their entire offense except for that running back, it is not only going to be a competition for 3rd, but for 2nd as well. Cleveland, despite this horrible season they still have plenty of atheletes and Liberty is returning their all district 1st team QB, their All SETX Sophomore of the year WR Jordan Jones. They are only losing 2 Offensive lineman, and their running back as far as offense is concerned. I say Liberty, Cleveland, and Huffman all have a chance for second, and call me crazy but I think Liberty can compete with Coldsprings this year as well with move-ins addiding to the defense and the running game.
Gotta' call you crazy:)
