2.
indians by 3......touchdowns
I agree.
 3. Cleveland has good athletes, and though Tullos was a good coach who got on the wrong side of someone, Maples has good credentials as well. If he's a good coach, it's immaterial whether he and Cowart worked together.  You can't bring Tullos back, so go forward supporting your team and its coach.  Cleveland played good teams in pre-season, and I say again that they will make the playoffs in their district.

 5.
I see that Cleveland is 0-4 under a new coaching staff.  The grass is not always greener on the other side!!
True they're 0-fer, but they have been playing quality teams, few of which they have in their district.  IMO, they'll make the playoffs and be better for having played tough teams.  I bet Tullos set up these games to get his team ready for the playoffs, then look what happened.
 6.

Tarkington= Fail
scooter, everybody's entitled to their opinion but that seems a little harsh, i'm sure those kids were out there busting their butts trying to get the job done ...
Fail is apropos for this night, but it doesn't mean they have to stay failing.  Tarkington needs to stop hanging their heads when the going gets rough. Lots of giving up tonight. Good job HD.
 7.
I agree with D WAde but Belle-mere i wouldn't say they played lousy. They got beat on both sides of the ball. Did not have an answer for kountze running game and as for their offense i'm not sure maybe it was just not clicking or too many turnovers. but the Fact is they lost and its all about matchups like D Wade said just because Hardin beat WH pretty good doesn't Mean Kountze will beat them. I predict an Kountze 26   WH 12 final Score.
You are right--beat on both sides.  Tarkington didn't look like the same team as they did against Hardin, especially the offense...lots of mistakes, penalties, assignments missed, etc.  The defense gave up even more points against Hardin, but they didn't look as flat though.  Hardin seemed a better team than Kountze. Perhaps because of their explosiveness, while Kountze ground it out on the ground.  Match-ups, yeah, true.  Betcha' Hardin beats Kountze though.
 8.
Well lets see... Hardin beat Tarkington 34-30... Kountze beat them 20-0... Hardin beat West Hardin  53-28.... Im pretty sure Kountze will win lol
Don't judge by the Tarkington scores.  There were two very different teams on the field for Tarkington in those games.  Not to take anything away from Kountze; they played well and deserved to win that night, but Tarkington played lousy against Kountze, compared to the game they had against Hardin.  Just sayin...faulty logic.
 9. Tarkington Ladyhorns got Coach Johnson her 399th win in the small school championship at YMBL, and tonight the Ladyhorns handed Coach J. her 400th.  Congrats, Coach and Ladyhorns!

 11. I like to see David beat Goliath every time, but I don't think God takes sides in football.  Sorry, I see Sunday's headline, "Tigers Eat Bruins," but I will still root for Westbrook.
 12.
I hope this is on point... Coaching is like any other job or profession - there are good ones and bad ones.  The best ones treat all kids fairly.  (And fairly does not mean equally.)  What works in getting through to one kid may not work for another.  Good coaches (and teachers) determine what works best for each player or student.  Some may need tough love (yelling, etc.) and others may perform just as well by treating them with encouragement and a softer touch.  As a parent, if my kid is treated fairly, then I am going to remain hands-off with coaches at school.  End of story.   On another note in this thread, we are talking about high school sports, not little league or pop warner.  We ain't talking about orange slices and pizza parties after every game.  Not everyone deserves to play and get a trophy.  The best will play and the coach determines who the best are.  This is subjective and will not always be the same across the board.  Middle school and high school athletics should be a part of the process of letting your kid grow up and learning to deal with people that may not always think they are the greatest and always kiss their butt.  Some of the parental hand-holding that still goes on at the varsity level nowadays is a joke and a parent that thinks they are 'helping' their kid by running to the coach everytime something doesn't go their way is stunting your kid's development.  Let them grow up. And, for the record, I taught for several years and coached varsity athletics as well.  I am not holding myself to be an expert, but just giving my perspective.
Good Post.
 13.
Between Malakoff and Cayuga.
Ya know I gotta say it--where's that?  Sorry, I googled since & saw that's near Athens.  That was a long trip to Lovelady.
 14. Imo it will be closer than some are saying--but Coldspring by 4
 15. I say if the kids come to practice and bust their humps then they should play.. they are just as much of the team as any other player!!!!
Do you think this attitude, which I undertand, is a product of all the pee-wee, Little League organizations--where everyone gets to play and everyone get a medal/trophy?
 16. If Tarkington girls win the whole shebang at YMBL, it will be Coach Denise Johnson's 400th career win.  Got to get by E. Chambers for small school championship plus win the game between large school/small school.  Will it happen today?
 17. 12-0 half Kountze 20-0 FINAL SCORE Kountze--prepared for Tarkington's offense and ran with their big guy.  Tarkington--flat on both sides of the ball.  Where was the Tarkington team that played so well against Hardin last week?
 18. From what I've heard about that Tarkington game, if any of you Hardin fans need a nitro pill I'd be willing to sell ya one of mine.  ;) :D
Raideroldtimer, I was sitting on the Tarkington side, and I needed your nitro pill.  But I want to compliment the Hornet fans.  More than a few greeted Tarkington players and told them "Good game."  Class!
 19. ..."it seems there is always a little "home field" bias at least when it comes to enthusiasm. did somebody say they were actually calling formations? i guess i better start paying better attention"  Yep, I think you better play closer attention.  High school announcers are all biased, and this one was no different, but calling plays--don't think so--cheerleader, definitely.  Hardin and Tarkington both played great games...more exciting for Tarkington because they are unaccustomed to success...maybe you can't blame the announcer's enthusiasm for the home team.  Hardin had a very effective passing game.  #5 was a great athlete. But, Tarkington's running game was also effective.  They kept the ball out of Hardin's hands, which kept the score even.  I agree with the posting that it was hard to tell who was carrying the ball for T-team.  The official's clock definitely made a difference in the W/L, but it was an exciting game.  I wish both teams a good season.
 20. Let's change the tenor of this thread!  Which team in this tournament has been the biggest surprise?
 21. Gotta' hand it to Newton--holding D-field to 27 points.  Good try Eagles.  I look for Daingerfield to win State.
