I agree with you to a certain extent. Although Jasper was winning 20-14 in the 2nd quarter with 3:15 left in the half. You can hardly call that a W. But if that’s what feeds the DAWGS their motivation by all means eat it up. Too much game was left to be played. The weather won that game. 

Its been a minute, lol. We really don’t even know what we’ve got yet. We have our RB Gatson that has several d1 offers, Williams is a strong QB and I’m really not sure about the others. Between Covid and the hurricane we haven’t caught a break. Jasper may beat us but even an average Newton football team doesn’t get run all over. 🙃

This is a great week for Kirbyville to cancel. Sorry, that was petty. Anyways, I think Jasper wins in a close one. Newton has a lot of key sophomores in key positions that will end up being very good, but they do not have a varsity game under their belt. Newton will get better every week, sweep their district and be a top 3A team in the state once again. They need time to find their identity, which will come. I just don't think Newton will be polished enough or experienced enough to beat a good Jasper Bulldogs team their first game of the season. Bulldogs in a close one, but I am rooting for my purple Eagles. 

This kid is a star. His presence on the field alone makes a difference.  Just throw the football his way and he will make the adjustment to the ball. When he was on the field the other recievers mysteriously played better.  And of course his play as a receiver opened the game up substantially for the running game, which he was a part of as well.  And on defense, it's in your best interest not to throw at him. And he saved many touchdowns with his closing speed. I'm not privy to the problems he was having, but I sure hope he overcomes and it, and it doesn't effect him on the next level. I like how everyone freaks out because either a) newton did not prepare and execute like they "normally" do vs East Bernard or 2) EB was better than what everyone thought and played out their butts last night and made a game out of something that should have not been all that close on paper....last i checked, these are HS kids and aren't perfect, so playing bad is not out of the equation ONCE in their HS lives.  Correct me if I am wrong

i hope so, Newton with all of its athletes  hasn't faced a passing team that will do all the picks and rub patterns like Gilmer. I think we should win handily but teams i have never seen tends to make me nervous.

It's hard to believe that two months ago, virtually everyone on the Forum was pulling for WOS & Newton to win State.  Now it's attack attack attack.  Primarily because of a couple of absurd post, or misinterpretation of other post.  No, no way, Newton beats Carthage last year.  That's a one sided victory.  No, no way, WOS is scared to play anyone (2014 3pt loss to 5A Foster 9-2, and KIPP the last two years, arguably one of the worst teams with the biggest cajones in the state).  Let's get over all this, and get ready to back both WOS & Newton in the coming season.  I just hope Evadale doesn't fill one of Newton's open dates  

Halfway through the 3rd quarter there were more people from Newton there.

The quality of opponent also will effect the newton fan travel.  If you schedule BC, a newton fan will leave their truck broke down in the front yard all week.  If you have WOS scheduled, they will be hitch hiking to napa all week getting parts together to get the truck running for the trip down 87.

Please everyone don't take this to mean every eagle thinks or feels this way. I certainly don't. Some just have no humility. I know there is more to scheduling than that.
