  1. One thing we haven't discussed but probably should... Fontenot and Yarborough both need 20+ touches a game. I don't mean runs because they are both excellent out of the backfield but they are such good players the more they are involved the better we will do. We couldn't run the ball last week but the playmakers were Fontenot and Yarborough.

The Receivers and the Tight Ends will get their touches via design but as long a Eudy knows "need a play" find one of those two we will be a fun team to watch.

Mag West played basically the same team with the same coach. Your comparison doesn’t compute 😂Do you think Mag West could review Absecks days at Cedar Park to formulate a game plan against BH?

I mean they beat yall last year "not knowing the system" I'm sure they didn't look at any of his cedar park tape before that game either.

I think he is saying that “Crosby specific film” in the new system will now be available.

The system in Crosby will not precisely reflect the system at the previous stop. Particularly due to different player strengths

Neither does any offense year to year. Abseck is running more complex plays than he would have been a year ago given he has the same players in the same system. Unless the claim is coaches have a system and only do that system then every first game of the year there is a question of what the "system" looks like.

    It's a weak excuse.

There was no film on Crosby running their new offense, so they chunked a couple of seam passes for TD’s.

Now that game film will be available for opponents the DC’s will limit that production. Then we get to see how Crosby can adjust. Not sure if FBM has the coaching to react this game but FBM at home they win. Buffs by 14

So either you're saying that C.E. King didn't watch tape from our coach who is running the exact same offense he's ran at his last two stops.

    Or

You're saying that he didn't know what Crosby's tendencies would be which is true of every team in game one.

So did BH beat Mag West because Mag West didn't have game film on this years BH team?

I think an important part of the CE King game is missing. CE King scored -5 points from the previous year and Crosby scored +15. My question would be, in what quarter did the most scoring take place? Did King get up by like 30 and start subbing in their bench players? Did Crosby score all (or some) of their points early in the game against their top tier players. I can see King subbing in players once they felt the game was out of reach. Same for Crosby, did they sub players once the game was out of reach and King scored points? IMO, this week will be a better judge of the team status. I predict Crosby by 14 and Eudy with 350 passing yards.

No Crosby Scores happened in the fourth quarter and only one King TD happened in fourth quarter.

Crosby and C.E. King traded initial touchdowns, King got up 21 in 2nd, Crosby closed gap to 14 then king scored again. 3rd Quarter Crosby defense had 2 4th down stops in the Crosby half of the field (too far for a field goal, too short for a punt.) Crosby closed the gap to 20 then king pulled away to 7 less than the final score by end of third. Crosby didn't score after about midway through the 3rd and C.E. King scored 2x at end of third and during the 4th.

This was not a case of Crosby 1's scoring on C.E. King 2s. It was however a three quarter game and King had the game won by the end of the third.

All the drops/big plays we are discussing happened with 1s versus 1s.

  6. Hold up literally no one is saying we didn't get mashed by King, They blasted us, however we did things against Kings defense that we could not do last year, we are much healthier than last year at this point as well.

We did beat FBM last year. New years, new teams. FBM is always good, they always have great athletes and the way you beat that team is by staying disciplined and out executing them. That's what the Cougars must do to win this one this week.

No one doubts the talent down their in MoCity. Should be another great test for Crosby.

I agree 100% in terms of the staying power. For years Crosby has relied on athleticism and we've won a lot of games. I think this is the type team Coach P and Rio would get 50 a night with but I also think a system like we're installing now would've been better for a less talented team like last year.

If we could post videos I would show you the play Glover scored on is the EXACT play I've see Carthage, Katy and Longview run for years. If we can get the offense figured out in short order and keep the defense healthy I think we may run the table in district play. For instance, the should've been 50 yard TD Hammer dropped was actually supposed to be for Wright. They should've been aligned opposite of what they were. It's ok though, Wright made up for it a couple of series later when he dropped the slant for a TD. If we can improve as much as we did from Lamar to CE King again this week we might go Fort Bend County and come away with a surprising result.

100% - Looks like the Coach has gotten buy in as well because those kids have to be studying this offense not just going through the motions.

I wasn't keeping track as I was watching the film but on 26 dropbacks I don't think Eudy was sacked once? Remember Langley didn't play either. Eudy ended up throwing for 223 yards and that was with all those drops, easily goes for over 300 yards and 4tds if we could've hung on to it. They moved my nephew up from JV after he made some spectacular catches on King last week, maybe they intend on him helping us hang on to it on Friday's too.

To your point about the fronts though. Crosby rushed 28 times for 22 yards and CEK rushed 31 times for 409 yards. We were also 1-13 on 3rd downs and half of those were 3rd and 5 or shorter. I agree though, we clean up some of those first game miscues I think we're going to be more than fine. That being said, this new offense is extremely complicated vs what we've been used to running under Coach Riordan and Coach P. You see Coach P's first rattle out of the box they dropped 60 Friday night.

Honestly, a more complicated offense has a lot of staying power. Some of the scheming reminds me of what Aledo/Carthage do with their TE's/WR's.

  10. Allen should win this one pretty easily. I think 14.2 hit it on the head the reason C.E. King finishes 4th in district is because they cannot bully the teams in their district. Any team they can do that too is going to lose but not if you have a really good front 7.... and the last time Allen didn't have a great front 7 I'm pretty sure I was in middle school.

  11. If we clean up the problems with dropping balls I think we win this one. If we continue to drop TD passes/long yardage catches then this will likely mirror the Klein game and be a who makes a play at the end type of game.

FBM has a lot of athletes all over the place but Crosby has had their number lately. I think the new offensive scheme does a very good job of creating bad reads for the opposing teams. The number of times we had time to throw the ball against king even tho they would beat us off the edge 75% of the time is extremely impressive. I also think the running game will have a better day not playing a very good 6a front 7.

I was exceedingly impressed with our coverage of C.E King this last week when they beat us this week it was due to bully ball which they should and did win. FBM doesn't have that style or type of offense they rely on being extremely fast and athletic. Limit big plays catch the ball and the Cougars will be just fine.
