This is gonna be fun! For starters, it seems like a name for this game should be established. The Fight for 146 or The Winfree Cup are a few thoughts, but they fall short of Red River Shootout or even Mid County Madness. Any thoughts?
My predictions...
Prediction 1. Dayton comes off a terrible loss to crosby and takes out their frustration on the Eagles. Eagle fans will chant "We Can, We Will" all the way back to the salt dome, however, it will do little to ease their collective suffering.
Prediction 2. Dayton sets a school record for fumbles. The game remains close until the 4th quarter until kicker Carranco drinks a specially formulated cocktail made of horse sweat, vinegar, and adamantium which yields a bionic leg resulting in consecutive 82 yard field goals. Dayton wins 6-0.
Crazy... I have a feeling stewarts gonna have a few fumble drills this week i bet hes also gonna have alot of hand drills. you know have his players walk around with a ball and if anyone knocks it out thier hand then they have to give him a mile... It'd work

Either PNG is really good or our defense wasn't playing because the other loss is to a top 5 state team (or so a couple websites say)

This win does not make you great either----keep proving itCongrats to the Coogs, Pats AND Ranger83, but I'm not eating crow since, like 34, I felt bad all week about this one and declined to make a prediction. I said it on the the other thread and I'll say it here...GCM athletes look at BH as their only rival team, I don't think ours feel (or FELT!) the same way. They came into BH stadium prepared, both to execute and leave everything on the field. We didnt. The bright side of this is that we learned something (the hard way) and will not forget it for a very long time. I hope GCM stays 4A awhile longer, cuz there is some hurt pride right now in Eagle land and have the feeling that every Pat sport the rest of this year, all the way through next seasons football team, is going to be facing an Eagle team out to make up for this. Guess what, GCM, you are now OUR rival...good luck with that and thanks for waking the beast. ;D

I think I said in another thread that GCM better pray for Rain and 10 turnovers if you want to win this game, well stay in church and believe in the Lord because he just granted ya a football wish come true ;D

2) i almost feel bad for BH because if you can't pull one out against Dayton, or Crosby Your looking at the back seat, fighting with everyone else trying to make the playoffs (luckily for you theirs that forth spot)... Hope they don't sleep on any of the other teams in the 19-4a because boy der good.

Looks like "Crostbie's" academics are keeping stride with their athletic program...
I really hate to see Dayton's program lose at all...but to a town whose fans, that live less than 10 miles away, can't even spell their opponent's name, when I'm sure they've lived there all their lives...don't they still sell spirit ribbons on Fridays anymore?
Perhaps she should spend a quarter, get one of those ribbons and study who the opponent is so she can effectively insult the losing team with some dignity.
Fumbles...Dayton's setting records with the most fumbles in a 12-man football game...I think we're clear that gifting the opposition with 7-8 turnovers is the contributing factor in a loss like this...

8 Turnovers and i'm sure none of them were punch outs, helmet to ball hits or excellent penetration by the defense to get the ball before the fumbler?
Whats your telling me is the Crosby Cougars just set the State records for forced turnovers in a game, and every fumble is a forced fumble because you have to recover it, thus either a) your offense is slow and doesn't know how to jump on balls, or

As for spelling... I pretty sure the illiteracy rate is higher in Dayton... Just a hunch...

I predicted a win but never expected a shut-out. But apperently was right that Daytons linebackers don't like taking hits from Merka...

Talk about real class. When Payton Ploch was hurt, you could hear the Crosby coaches cheering because he was hurt. I could hear this through the radio broadcast. Sounds like our announcers are real close to the Crosby coaches in the press box.
Talk about slanderous... They're are more people than coaches in those press boxes.. also was it a big hit they may have been happy how their defense was playing...
And if you think thats true of our coaches man your wrong... some of the nicest guys Ive ever met.

Andrew Pursley DT/RB Hull-Daisetta is a good player. Played LB for High Island last year as Freshman and has grown and put on wt since last year. Should continue to mature and get even better as a Junior.
I love that Combo that's a running back that wants to truck people.

In 07-08 I was watching the Crosby-BH game and BH had a LB that year that was touted and our coaches consistently released a guard to take two=three steps up and then turn and ear hole that linebacker every running play.
Eventually we got the linebacker to take four steps back to prevent this and we would get 4-5 yards a play running.
What was amazing was that this kid made an adjustment and you could see how fast he was because most the time when we backed linebackers up we would run right past them because they couldn't catch chance.
This is an example of how a good linebacker can change a team altogether... granted they still lsot but i can gaurnetee his shear will got him 20 tackles that game and that seems like a great night regardless.

Dayton is not over-confident. They want to beat crosby more than anything. Nice class by crosby keying Frank's car when he was at his cousins house, in crosby. It is amazing how pissed off the Broncos are over a childish immature act that some idiot or idiots did, and for a kid that just moved here. Check the paper crosby has been waiting on this game. That is good because so has Dayton.

Senior year Dayton Football Players where Caught Drawing Penis' on the Crosby TURF football Field it caused Crosby to Cancel a game... Id say that's substantially worse.

He was their starting running back and they won the state championship. Stop whining. As far as I know I dont think we went and keyed his car for punishment for leaving dayton.
His statements before both of the Playoff games had things to do with looking forward to the next round... etc.

Frank has been our most explosive receiver for past two years. Hes been our blooming star... numbers are one thing watching him break a game open like he did in first round of playoffs last year is another.

I don't think anyone ever said he was a star, but when you have his speed he can break a game wide open at anytime. There was also a kid by the name of Chance Casey playing here, now at Baylor, he was the go to guy. Not sure about not playing him on "D", that would be a good question for Flannigan. Before anyone in Crosby gets upset, all I said was ask Flannigan, didn't say anything bad about the man or have I in the past :'(. Saying Stewart is a better coach is my opinion, but you can also compare records and playoff wins. As far as someone keying his car, that is a shame because he grew up here and that is a cruel, jealous act from an immature kid. I know it happens in other places as well, and that's too bad. Look at what happen to Aaron Miller in Channelview, wrecked his whole house. There is no excuse for that but the whole town shouldn't be blamed for it.
I don't think anybody meant to blame the town. It was obviously some punks kids and every town has them. The incident just caused a stir and that can't be good for the Cougs.

Stewarts normally good at this but its when Crosby's not that great that they have the best game...
I don't think this is gonna be a blowout... Not even Close. I think the games gonna be really Close and i think That its gonna come Down to Merka with the ball in his hands VS that great linebacker core and the only question is our broncos used to getting Hit back... Because Our Quarter back doesn't get tackled he trucks you and you trip him.

I'd say it's more Stewart using some "coachspeak" and not giving them any bulletin board material....probably using it in some way to motivate his troops as well. If he were to come out and say we're going to beat the pants off of them and then burn them in the center of the field after the game then it's all we'd be talking about....

TBH Crosby is a Very talented team they always are their just normally very undisciplined and thats how Dayton beat them... Very disciplined very head a swivel style football...
The past Three years have been the closet years talent wise with Crosby and Dayton and the Coaching has proved the key determinate... thiers also soemthing to be said about swagger.
My Senior year 07-08, The retarded District rules that you people have in that other district.... Screwed Dayton out of a Conference championship... If that doesn't occur Crosby Doesn't play dayton and Honestly that team would of Made it to the 4th round.
Talent wise that Year Crosby and Dayton were very even, we all know the talent dayton had... But Crosby had Durran Starks (IOWA), Chance Casey (starting freshman at Baylor), Xavier Frank(soph), a GREAT! D line, Talented Linebackers and a small but very smart secondary. The O-Line was anchored by a couple Beast. and The Racievers were very good aswell (everyone could catch the ball) I remember a Catch by Preston Cantrell in which he jumped over a BH defended and Caught the ball... Talent has never been the issue with Dayton... But its starting to be Like the Stewart Curse...

Over all I've seen him make a lot of difficult catches too and man when he breaks out for along one its all over but the crying! I think purple agrees with him---GO BRONCO'S---Yeah #7 dropped a sure touchdown pass in the Friendswood game, oh man that turned out to be costly.
So that was yes but he catches so hard ones... Im a cougar i know how explosive he is...

Mr. Purple4ever,,,,,,The reality is this.. Both BH and Dayton have played 3 district games, now their both 3-0...None of those games were exactly against the strongest district teams.. BH has played what I think most would consider 2 of the better teams in 20-4a..Lumberton and PNG the result (2) losses....Dayton has played (1) top notch non district opponent, Friendswood the result..(1) loss...While both teams have looked pretty good and BH has shown steady improvement from last year, neither team has anything to crow about just yet...So my advice is for BH to concentrate on GCM and Dayton on Crosby.. and we'll see ya in 2 weeks....by then things will be pretty well sorted out.....
I love when BH fans overlook Crosby... Regardless Crosby played a very good team in Ennis and the Tribe in both games (from what a here) the defense ran around like chickens with their heads cut off. Since then (against "lesser" opponents) they've gotten that defense back on track, do i think they'll beat Dayton? No but thats because Dayton has an amazing defense. and we don't.
Will they beat BH yes... because your not going to shut down the Crosby Run game Merka ran all over you last year no reason a year larger he won't again....

Ahh.. how sweet. Regardless of the forced unforced conception... Im sure a couple where off hits... if not the QB needs to learn how to place the ball in your running backs stomach.
I wouldn't know what the entrance requirements are for Lee as i graduated and went to UH... was going Honors till i transferred to UMKC with a scholarship (academic).
Really wish we had a stats guy on here who knew the actual stats from the game instead of this hearsay. As for the fact we recovered 8 fumbles I'd say that's a good night of fumble drills. Thank you Dayton we don't have to do those this week meaning we had about an hour and a half of them during the game.
