Only real offer?..  really?  UL Monroe is a D1 football program that just beat the #8 team in the country (Arkansas).  And then played ANOTHER SEC school to a 3 point loss (Auburn). Yeah what a disappointment.  His family should be ashamed that he was offered a free education to a school that beat an SEC school on national television.  What were they thinking? This is the real world guys.  Nobody cares how much a community does for your kid when it comes down to somebody that can do better.  If Fitz stayed at Liberty, no offer from a D1 school and most likely another missed trip to the playoffs. Several years ago a kid named Tony Bua left Liberty his senior yr for greener grass (after spending his entire life in Liberty).  Then played 4 years at Arkansas...then played several seasons in the NFL.  Should his parents also be "ashamed"?..  I don't think so.
Fitz basically had offers from Tech and SMU while down here.. not official yet, but I'm sure they're still around.
I think you may be confusing "offer" and recruitment letter.  I guarantee you that nobody from Liberty high school was offered anything from Texas Tech University for any type of athletics.  By the way...schools send out about 30,000 letters a year to kids that have any amount of size or talent.  That does not mean offer.  The kid's parents made the right decision this time.  I'm sure Fitz thinks so too.
Actually I'm well aware of the difference between a general interest letter and an offer, and you can't guarantee me anything. Except that you have no idea and are just assuming things. Ask Neal Brown.. smh at the hate on Liberty.
Oh ok.  Thanks for clearing that up.  I guess I was assuming.  I had no idea that Liberty High School was that good.  I mean, to have players on the roster turn down offers from a Big 12 school.  Wow.  Players that good, and still not make the playoffs.  Man those other schools in district must be LOADED.  Thanks for making me realize how wrong I was.  What would I know about talent or recruiting.  I only played 4 years of college ball myself.  I'll never assume again.

3. Just wondering if anybody has changed their minds. Originally it was: 1. West Hardin 2. Colmesniel 3. Iola 4. Hull Daisetta What do you think after 1st 4 games?
4. Evadale will win this one...but that's not saying a whole lot.  They're both pretty bad this year.

6. Newton 34 Warren 24 Oh wait...just got word that Warren's Varsity is playing Newton's Varsity and not Newton's jv.  In that case... Newton 70  (if they want to) Warren 0    (if Newton wants to)
7. Hardin wins. Sad to say but this is probably only win of the season for the Hornets. West Hardin will not win their district.
8. 1. East Chambers 2. Newton 3. Kirbyville, Woodville, Kountze (too tough to call just yet) 6. Anahuac 7. Warren 8. Hardin
9.
So you were at the practices, I guess you were on the coaching staff huh since you know what their practice schedule. thats silly to suggest that a coach would ignore the defensive side of the ball. It's just not true. Once again, while Haynes was there they had an all state LB and a RB set the School record with1700 yds rushing in a season, That would be impossible to achieve if a coach only coached the spread and his QBs and ignored the other side of the ball. Not trying to be negative I just think its funny how people get on here and bash the former coaches like they did and still do. Go look up Haynes Resume, There is no way you can win over 75% of your games by only coaching the spread and ignoring defense. HAVE A CLUE.
2 things: 1.  Haynes was and is a good coach.  He did the spread because that's the kind of kids he had.  Accurate qb, good athletes, etc.. I do not agree that they didn't focus on defense..  ?  that's just crazy. 2.  No way 1700 yards is the school record for rushing in a season.  I've been following Hardin for years, and the years that they've been "good" they've had some talent.

11. What I do know about Kountze is that after tonight (win or lose) they will be wondering how in the world they will survive against EC, Newton, Kirbyville, etc.  By then I'm sure half of the team will be on the basketball court. Mentally at least.
12. Shock of the year less than 12 hours away. Coach Franklin going from "coach that has gotten the kids fired up about football" to a terrible coach literally overnight.  I'm telling all of you right now... there is something special about what Finney has going on in Daisetta, Tx.  Kountze gonna be wondering what happened. Speed is not going to be a big factor when HD has possession of the ball for most of the game.
13. this game = out of hand Liberty's gonna get rolled again. Newton by 3td's +
14. I'll go with Hardin in a close game.  20-14 Tarkington has a lot to prove to me before I pick to beat anybody.
15. Toothless dog fight. But I'll go with Colmesniel to pull it out
16. This will be the last post I put about this game: Last yr Kountze won big. HD had more than 10 fumbles in that game(that is not made up), and lost most of them. They probably had more turnovers than anyone else in SETX. Which was in part to discipline and preparation. I'm not making an excuse, but the other teams had little to do with most of the turnovers. Friday night HD had 0 fumbles or turnovers. Its been a long time. Since I could say that. HD is a lot more disciplined than yrs past. All I can say is Kountze better score twice at a time, because when HD has the ball they're gonna keep it for a quarter. Hardin ran less than 10 offensive plays 1st half Friday night. Kountze better hope its not a close game and comes down to coaching. My prediction...Kountze will get more than they want, or worse. Lot of people will be surprised by this game whatever the outcome.
17. People are going to be surprised for the second strait week.  I predict a close game. Some funny things happening in HD right now.

19.
Heard that for the last 5-10 yrs..
I know you have.  Everybody has.. but this is the 1st time I've said it.  I'm not making a prediction because you only have to wait 3 more days after today.  Friday will tell
20. How many move-ins did HD need to be competitive?  I hate to say it...but that's how many they got. Combination of that, and the new coaching staff....HD's gonna surprise a few people this season.  They are not as bad as they were last year...not even close. I've seen Hardin and HD both scrimmage this year so far. Gonna be some surprised people.
21. My opinion: Long year for Liberty. Very long year for Hardin. Orangefield offense is persistent enough to kill some clock against district teams, but will struggle a little. Liberty and Hardin are both terrible. Best of luck though.

24. HD's gonna surprise some people this year. I don't know about win district...but I have a feeling they'll beat a few teams nobody thought they would.
