  1. Hull Daisetta vs. Louise 6:30 pm @ Waller High School Thursday, Feb. 18
  2. HD 41 Bremond 34. Congrats HD.  It's always good to see local teams win in the playoffs.  Good luck against Louise.  And good luck to Evadale.  It would sure be awesome if there could somehow be a HD-Evadale rematch. Tough road to get there though.
  3. Yes it's true.  The chance of getting an athletic scholarship are very slim.  But how many of those 552,935 athletes are seniors.  Because those 4000 scholarships only go to high school graduates.
  4. Actually....his district winning streak was 88 games.  Making it the second longest in the state.  The longest is held by Barbers Hill with Over 100 district games without a loss. I cant remember the extact number but it's somewhere along the lines of 113 or so.
  5. Kountze boys - A whole lot EC boys - not very much EC girls - A whole lot Kountze girls - not very much
  6. I think that next year will be about the same for HI next year as far as the playoff picture goes.  Leggett and Goodrich will be solid, but 3rd should be wide open.  Just based on what I can tell.  The travel will be rough though.
  7. I'm going with the HD sweep.  Varsity HD boys by about 10, and HD girls by 20+.  I think Coach Henry is to good of a coach to lose a close game twice. HD 61 WH 52
  8. Were you there?  Because just about all of #5's points came in fast break, not the offense.  Plus considering HI only scored 6 pts per quarter til HD put the bench in the game doesn't constitute 1 player being the difference in the game.  By the way....HI's starting 5 scored about 8 or 10 in the last 2 mins against HD's JV by pressing.  2 Thumbs up
  9. Evadale looked good.  I don't think they're quite where they were last year, but they can play.  I've seen hd play a few times already this year, and I've definately seen them play a lot better.  I will be surprised if it's not a closer game next time.  Cant wait.
  10. Oh yeah well I heard that.....wait.  No I didn't......because NOBODY CARES about who did or didn't make a jv team
  11. I know the previous coach at Kountze personally.  I went to several Kountze games last year including all of their playoff games.  A close personal friend of mine has a daughter that goes to school there. He had 8 on varsity.  7 were seniors, and the only junior transferred to central.  Some of the JV players were pulled up to varsity during the playoffs.  But they were basically being managers with uniforms on.  So no....they didn't lose every player that has "literally" worn a varsity uniform.  But they did lose all 8 that ever got to play.  But whatever.  Lets say they are bringing back a few that have suited out.  They lost the entire starting five, including 2 All Region players, 1 of which was All State, and all 7 seniors.  I'd say that's losing enough not to be "ranked" in setx wouldn't you.
  12. Kountze also way to high.  They shouldn't even be on the list.  They lost every girl in the program that's ever worn a varsity uniform.
  13. hmmm....?  who will indeed...be the worst team in the district?  Liberty or Tarkington?  Lol  Flip a coin.  Knowbody cares
  14. Last time I checked there weren't any coaches on the field playing. So yeah, it's nice to have good coaches but you need a good, senior thick group of athletes that have been playing together and running the same system for longer than 1 or 2 years. Kountze's "best" shot was 2 years ago when they beat EC, and almost beat Buna. That's long gone now. Problem #1: gonna have a hard time getting a good fball coach that's ok with not being AD. Problem #2: all of the good athletes are in the gym. JMO
  15. High Island takes this one. It'll be a very close game though. And btw, home field didn't matter in wh's game last week and it won't this week either.
  16. So if someone talks good about a kid they're in love with him. Because I've seen at least 20 comments about Evadale's QB being far and away the "best" player in the district. So what does that mean?...Besides, maybe he is, maybe he isn't. Is that really saying something? Being the best player in this joke of a football district. I mean come on. Rivalries are fun but you know that maybe 5 players in this district could play at a real program. And BTW, it's really unfair to pass judgement on a school based on 1 person making a big deal about some JV players. We know that JV doesn't mean anything. MOST of us do anyway.
  17. You didn't go back quite far enough. 1st time they moved down was in 2000, they made the playoffs both of those years (00-01, 01-02). Then they moved back to 3A and made it 1 out of the 2 years then. So that makes it 5 out of 8 years..which is good for Hardin's expectations. But before that (98-99 and before) Hardin was 3A by less than 10 kids...literally. Playing in a district with Barbers Hill, Huffman, HJ, Hamshire, Liberty (when Liberty was good). During that time Anahuac is the only team we could beat. I know UIL aligns districts according to enrollment, but that still seems a little inappropriate to me. To each his own I guess.
  18. Yeah that's real mature. 2big4britches.....that's cute. Hey this started 3 posts ago when the comment was made about Hardin lowering standards and implication being made of "backing down". I just made a statement about the simple truth that THIS GAME DOESN'T MATTER. I do pull for the other teams in district come playoff time but if stones are gonna get thrown at me they'll get returned. Don't get upset with me because I'm thinking big picture. And fyi, since Hardin dropped down to their appropriate classification they've made the playoffs a lot more often than they haven't.
  19. Never won anything....I remember a time not to long ago when Anahuac was the only win Hardin would get in district. And when they both went down to 2A Hardin was making the playoffs and Anahuac was starting basketball. So yeah enjoy that championship (if Anahuac wins)...maybe they can take the trophy to the 1st playoff game when Kirbyville kicks the crap out of them again. Win or lose, Hardin plays more football games than Anahuac this year you can bank on it. And that's what counts.
  20. Yeah maybe HD did have a little trouble with High Island, but High Island put together 1 drive (that happened to last an entire quarter). That's all they did the whole game. HD had a lot of mental mistakes. Besides, I heard the Evadale had quite a bit of trouble theirselves with Sabine Pass. Take away a blocked punt/TD and a returned missed field goal/TD, and you have a 2 touchdown game. I think this one will be closer than people think. Team that makes the least mistakes wins.
  21. Doesn't matter who wins this one. Anahuac goes big school in the playoffs anyway. Hardin just has to beat EC/Buna. Getting a gold football and a banner is great and all....but look at the big picture.
  22. you just gotta know the difference between getting recruited, and getting recruited seriously. the marsh kid from a couple years ago put up better numbers than mitch could dream of. 75 receptions and like 31 touchdowns. he also got "recruited" by major d1's...but it's just letters. he ended up at blinn jc. and the last good group of athletes thru hardin (2001 i think)..they had a running back with pretty much the same stats as villamez, and they had a bball player who was in the top of the state stat wise....both kids played d2. and there's nothing wrong with that. you just need to realize that (most of the time) "big time" colleges get kids that are used to "big time" programs....first class weight facilities, playing in front of thousands, 1st class competition, etc...it's just the way it is.
