1.
Well... H-D looked alot better last week in regards to turnovers. The defense gave up two long TD runs last week. Bobcats lost a close game last week 12-7 to Iola. H-D had a TD called back for Unsportsman like conduct, which occurred before the player reached the endzone(new rule/player started celebrating). That TD would have won the game for the Bobcats 13-12. I believe H-D has a good team and will do well in District. I would like to see our top players play both ways. In my opinion, a 1A with 30 players can't have their top athletes/studs on the sidelines. Even when H-D was a 2A with 50 players, the top athletes played both ways. They can rest on special teams. H-D 28 Crossroads 6
HD scored right after that fumble recovery.  So they scored as a result of the fumble anyway
 2. You're absolutely right incognito 123.  In fact, the only reason I jumped in this conversation is because this guy ''HDbobcat55'' is degrading the hard work of a few by making comments like...''hundreds of bobcats could have''...or ''anybody could do it just live in the weightroom and make good grades''.  That's a load of crap because if they could play college ball...then they would.
 3.

55 you forgot Kam Holder, Jason Elder, Justin Fregia all went to McMurry in 2001. Dusty Evans could have went the next year to McMurry Univerisity but choose not to.
These players mentioned just proves my point even more. Truth of the matter is, if you make good grades and are a serious worker in the weight room, you can play college football. Maybe not D-1, but you can play at an Eastern Alaska St or Western Daisetta St. There just is not that many of those kids out there. Those guys you mentioned were just average ball players with heart, one of the guys you mentioned didn't even start for H-D and still played college football. lol. Point proven again.
You still haven't named 10 since 2000.  You said "hundreds"...  I could dig deeper into Hardin's history and find a few more myself.  I said recently.

My statement "I have not seen FOOTBALL played in Hardin" simply means, I have not seen a 3 dimensional Hardin team since 2000-2002. Which would be the last time Hardin had teams where they played Offense, Defense and Special teams and were extremely successful at all three of those aspects of the game. Has Hardin has good defenses and offenses since? Yes. But not at the same time, on one team. Pay attention to Hardin football better, or do not comment on this thread if you aren't familiar with the history of the program.
Hardin had size and talent back then but skill players were being played out of position.  Dont think they were any better or worse than the 2007/2008 team.  Depth is always a problem and Hardin was not 3 dimensional in 2000-2002, they were good and if they hadn't blown a lead over Garrison they would most likely won a state championship that year.  Garrison went on to blow everybody else out.  Harrison Gray sat on the sidelines when he should have seen some time on defense as a safety or linebacker too much talent to waste.  If Larry Haynes had that team who knows what numbers they could have put up with those skill kids.
No offense... but YALL are talking about Hardin winning playoff games and having awesome athletes. lol. H-D has had hundreds of awesome athletes that could have played for Eastern Dakota St. or where ever Stelly plays. Truth of the matter is, if you make good grades and are a serious worker in the weight room, you can play college football. Austin State University Charles Bolds - Souwhestern Oklahoma State University Brent Anderson - University of Texas Dallas Cedric Reescano - Stephen F. Austin State University Derrick Reescano - South Plains Junior College John Stelley - Southeastern Oklahoma State University Jordan Nolan - Milsaps College Daniel Marsh - Blynn Junior College Mitch Villamez - Blynn Junior College That's just since 2000.  And I may have missed somebody.

 6. The problem is that too many parents coach youth sports so that jr can get the glory.  Politics are definately present.  As for school sports...coaches are trying to win.  Period.  Job is probably on the line. And for the comment about freshman playing before senior...if they are close to same skill level then the freshman plays every time.  Freshman will improve for sophomore season.  Who cares if senior improves for next yr.  That's not politics, just smart coaching.
 7.
''Baseball boy'', don't get it twisted, Evadale has only been good for 5 years !! lol !! H-D will continue to be a great program in all sports, especially football. Good luck Evadale on being good for over 70 years like H-D !
I think that part of the reason HD is so average now is because the kids think exactly the way you do.  Last season.....HD went 5-5.  Got 3rd in district.  Then got smoked 1st round.  Even with the almighty Gilmore and Drak and whoever else you said were gonna "dominate" the field.  In fact.  I bet if you look at the school over the history....the football team is probably closer to .500 than you think.  AVERAGE!! On a second note.  You actually have to put in time and effort...then get results to be considered a powerhouse program.  You have to do more than just put on a uniform with a Bobcat on it to win games.  When's the last time HD won a playoff game in football.  When's the last time they've won a playoff game on the boy's side period?  Yeah I know they've been at the top of a very weak district a number of times.....but who cares.  You need to let go of the past man.  Did you even play when you were in school?  I bet you "could've been a division 1 player but the coach didn't like you"  haha

The same Ricky Tullos that was AD at Cleveland? Wow.  Job market must be slim out there
Try finding a teaching position if you are NOT a coach. Now that's slim.
Yes that's true.  But I would imagine that with the success Tullos had at Cleveland he would be able to fine a HEAD coaching job somewhere.  Unless he just wants to stay in the area.  Or if he wants to be next in line for Deel's job...?....

 10.
Can anyone tell me why there seems to be such a huge turnover rate for teachers and coaches at this school? What is the problem there?
Problem is that the school doesn't have a very deep talent pool.  Good kids and work ethic is fantastic... but eventually winning has to be a priority.  Coaches realize they wont win consistently so they leave.  Even when HF has a descent group of kids come thru...just a tough district.
 11. I'm sorry....but I think this whole thing is kind of stupid, and going to backfire in the worst way.  First of all: Each team is going to have a few kids fresh out of school (probably skill positions) that just dominate the offensive side of the ball.  Everyone else is either too old or too fat and out of shape to catch them.  Second: I'm sure that there are a lot of people signed up to relive some glory days of high school, that are just going to get injured (probably pretty serious).  I would hope that most of these men need to be working and might have a family to support.  Why would you risk getting hurt and possibly missing work...or worse. Third:  Most of these games are "rivalry" games.  You KNOW that there are going to be fights break out.  Either because of the rivalry itself, or because 1 team has more young, athletic guys than the other and are just beating the crap out of the other team.  I doubt there is going to be anybody there that will stop the bleeding if a game gets out of hand. THIS IS A BAD IDEA!!
 12. You do realize that all of these coaches are teachers as well? They didn't simply relieve them of their coaching duties and stipend, they eliminated teachers. and no, cuts are not everywhere. I have not heard of one school reducing amin. payrolls.
ding ding ding.  That is the correct answer!
 13. Things aren't the way they used to be.  Athletic directors don't just hire coaches and stick them in P.E. and health anymore.  They DO teach...and if they're not good teachers then they don't get hired.  And when you have 7th A, 7th B, 8th A, 8th B, Freshmen, JV, and Varsity.  And the fact that just about every high school coach in the business coaches more than 1 sport, then you need that many coaches.  You pretty much need 2 coaches per sub varsity football team....because 3A schools and bigger probably will have at least 20 kids per team. Daisetta had 6 coaches in 79 as a 1A school......they still have 6 football coaches!  But now I bet they all teach core subjects and high needs areas.  And it's not liberty putting 30 kids in the classroom....that's the state.   AND....schools like football will make quite a bit of that budget money back in admission and concessions.  Or maybe they don't.  Maybe if Liberty had more people show up to the games and cheer and buy nachos and soda then they would make that budget money back for the school. Get your facts straight.....and trust me...plenty of coaches are getting cut too
 14. a lot of the time rankings don't mean anything.  TABC posts rankings based on stats/records from maxpreps.com.  If the coach doesn't keep that stuff currenct on maxpreps...the team has no chance at a ranking.  Example:  Hardin's girls defeated the #1 team in the state in the playoffs last lear.  They went into the playoffs 28-4 this year and were district champs.  They weren't ranked 1 week this year because the coach doesn't use maxpreps to post stats.  They should've been ranked all year and weren't because of that.  So...rankings mean nothing.
 15. 52-49 WH Probably shouldn't have went to OT.  HD had it a few times late and blew it.  But, nothing can be done now.  Both teams played hard and good luck to WH in the playoffs.
 16. Final BS 81 HD 37 Was a good game early.  16-15 after 1.  28-21 half.  HD ran out of gas BIG TIME.  Big Sandy has an impressive group.  They'll beat Evadale next time they play
 17. Why even ask?  Here's your answer.  Because.....um...    your kid.........    ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH!!!! I'm pretty sure most coaches put the kids in that THE COACH thinks will help win games.  If you don't like your local coaches opinion.  Check your kid out of school, take them to a different school, then...you can ask a different coach why your kid doesn't play.  You should get the same answer.  See above
 18.
1A stuff is wrong, because Evadale is ranked in Division I and High Island is ranked in Division 2.  Check it out on TABC website
Not anymore.  Both fell off of the top 25.
 19. Coldspring wins this one as bad as they want to.  Sorry...it's good Liberty made the playoffs and all, but be realistic.
 20.
Evadale @ Big Sandy  Tues. 4:30
Why would they play/scrimmage before district?  They are in the same district again aren't they?
 21. Yes that's very true.  HD is better than last year and playing at home.  And Lovelady did lose a lot from last year.  But truthfully, Lovelady didn't lose any of the discipline that they had.  And HD has yet to prove that they can play mistake free.  Don't get me wrong, I'm pulling for the cats in this one.  But even in the last 2 wins they had, they still put the ball on the grass...  In fact, every game they turn it over.  If they don't cut down on the mistakes in a hurry, these last 2 weeks might get ugly. Mistake free game:  28 - 24 either team. If HD has mental breakdown:  Lovelady 42 HD 20
 22.
They probably should have left it at two teams per district making the playoffs.  Then you get the best teams. But it also wansn't fair that HI and SP had to play schools with twice their enrollment every year.  This is more fair just needs a few tweeks.  Hey Roger whats up.  Hope High Island wins big this weekend.
You know what....every year teams all over the state play and have to play schools with bigger enrollments.  Fair doesn't have anything to do with it.  If you don't like it transfer your kid to a different school.  Or play 6 man.  Or don't play football at all.  I've seen many times teams playing with 1 or 2 kids on the sidelines.  I've even been involved in a few of those games as a young man. And we were a 3A school.  So you have no idea what's it like to play out numbered until you play a 3A schedule with 14 kids.
 23.
UIL went too far with this whole Div I, Div II thing.  It's a shame that a team can be looking for their 1st win of the year in week 10 and be in the playoff hunt.  Come on!!!  This is not good for the game! The 2nd and 3rd place teams in this district would have finished a distant 5th and 6th last year, with it being close with Burkeville and Colmesneil for the 4th/5th spot.
How is that talking bad about Sabine Pass?..  I don't know this person (d-ville gorilla), and I'm not defending them.  But that's the truth!  A team that goes 1-9 does not deserve to be in any kind of playoffs.  I can see the playoff shirts now...I bet that if they win Friday they won't put their record on the playoff shirts.  STATE PLAYOFFS 2010....RECORD 1-9....DISTRICT RECORD 1-2....WHOOHOO!!
 24. This game marks the downfall of the Texas high school football playoff system.  UIL.........you are a disappointment.
