  1. You can't be forced to flip for home and home.

    This usually happens when teams can't agree on neutral sites, or neutral sites arent avaialble.. (happening alot this year). or the expense of renting a place. prohibits its use.....

    Coaches get together... usually they have both secured locations and agree on a date, a place and what referee chapter they will use.  If they cannot agree on officials, UIL assigns them based on each schools preference.

    Most coaches come to pretty easy agreements.  There are some places/districts that are notoriously difficult to deal with.

  2. From the UIL.....   This will help clear up some of the crunch of teams tryign to cram in 4 games this coming week.   State Finals will move to mid week now, and wont be on the weekend....

    UIL Update

    UIL has released updated basketball playoff information to account for the interruptions created by the severe weather. Complete information can be found on the UIL website. This information includes:

    • Girls State Championship games will be played March 10th-11th at the Alamodome;
    • Playoff round certification deadlines have been adjusted to allow all playoff games to be played;
    • Schools who have experienced delays in playoff rounds may be required to complete three rounds in a one-week period.

    Updated Girls Basketball Post-Season Dates
    February 20 Bi-district

    February 20-23 Area
    February 24-25 Regional Quarterfinals
    February 26-27 Regional Semifinals
    March 1-2 Regional Finals
    March 5-6 State Semifinals
    March 10-11 State Finals

    • Rounds may be played on consecutive days. Some circumstances may require this.
    • For girls teams unable to play the area round by February 20, three rounds will need to be completed the week of February 22-27.
    • For girls teams unable to play the bi-district round by February 20, four rounds will need to be completed the week of February 22-27.

    The following scheduling flexibility is available for schools by mutual agreement only:

    • Up to four teams can meet at one site to complete multiple rounds. For example, four schools may mutually agree to play the regional semi-final games at one location followed by the regional final game on consecutive days.
    • If schools are choosing to combine playoff rounds with the above options, the second of those rounds must be completed by the deadline listed above.

    UIL may consider exceptions to any of the deadlines above on a limited case by case basis.

    So you didn't see the player from HJ throw and punch, and the player from Huffman bleeding after the skirmish, little brawl, or fight.  I know three people that saw a few punches and someone needed a cut doctor.

    I was sitting about 15 feet from it in the corner.. I didnt see a punch.  Watched the video my daughter filmed with her phone of the last play and didnt see it there either.  Once everyone ran around them, you cant see the players anymore..

  4. I will vouch for what AAW is saying... I have tried to help get sponsors... it aint an easy thing.
    appreciate him and anyone else who does their part to help grow the girls game!
    the total number of posts on the boys side vs the girls side tells the same story... outside of 4-5 programs in the area, girls basketball has just been that thing sandwiched between volleyball and softball...

  5. The number of schools willing to host is VERY minimal....  With boys still playing.... some districts playing thursday games, make up games and seeding games...... finding gyms for games HAS BEEN CRAZY!  This year has been tougher than the last 10 years combined from the coaching side....   I thought at the beginning of the year, there would be tons of teams flipping for home and home...

    There may be regional tournament games that end up as a flip for home and home....

    Should have done like Louisiana and the beat record host the game until the State Championship

    I believe they use a point system there, kind of like a power ranking....   If it just goes on record, teams get penalized for playing a tougher schedule.  Hard to base anything off a ranking...   The first wo rounds would allow your seeding from district play to dictate that.  (Makes doing well in district get rewarded)  From the 3rd round on, that cant really play out as to district winners could face each other...
