2. I'm not a big fan of the bubble screen either, I think we could use some good old fashion play action passes to the TE, these are great for gaining 1st downs, some 3 step slants to Kimler, these also have big play potential, we normally have just enough offense to pull out a win, but lack consistancy.

I understand only wantly to play kids one way... but when you are limited on options you have to allow your best players to stay on the field.. I think that if we did that we would have an opportunity to make the playoffs.  On tonights match i am thinking PNG 21 Central
If I remember correctly, the tribe refuses to play anybody both ways.  Not sure why, cuz it works for us.  I guess it's Faircloth's policy or something.
That's correct. I believe it's for two reasons. Number one, if that player gets injured (God forbid), you're basically out of two starters instead of one. Number two, I don't think Faircloth likes the idea of wearing down his starters that much.
at this point what does it hurt, just sub as needed, you still have a shot at the playoffs. Nederland doesn't play alot of people both ways but we do as needed
Colton is a great athlete and will succeed in any sport he wants to. He could be a 5 sport athlete if they did not conflict. I hope he has a speedy recovery! Great kid
I knew Colton hurt his ankle but didn't know he broke it, hate to hear that, he is a great kid.

To not hear what is being said, means you are not at the right places in Nederland. I think it's kind of silly to say untrue things about some of these kids.  Be respectful, 04, I know you have a hard time doing that. And if you want to bash any of these kids, I will personally invite you to my house and you can tell what you know as fact.  That's an invite ;) As I have said, the future of Nederland is bright, how ever the coaches decide.  They must be living right in Nederland. 8) 8) 8) [/quote Who said anything untrue 87, I said they are all good, is that your idea of bashing, I am very respectful and have said nothing derogatory about any of them, try some anger management 87.
 11.
White is excellent as QB, strong arm, tall and athletic.  White is set to lead the Dogs next season and Smith to follow.  Smith is very confident in any sport he plays, very athletic, tall and great size.  Both run effective offense and BOTH are team players, no whinning from either of those players.  Great kids off the field as well. Both tremendous baseball pitchers and players.  These players are the best arms (accurate and smart football players) in the bunch and are team players. Jones is definetly at the right level. The future looks bright in Nederland... No controversy in Nederland, maybe you, football04, should head to reservation ...... for that .......8) 8) 8)
I didn't realize you, thedogs1987, were setting the line up for the next 2 years. How is having an opinion about underclassmen for next years team before the offseason ever starts be controversy, and besides I said Preston was the frontrunner, but the other 2 are pretty good as well.
 12. They run stories on each every week, how is that unfair to poor Memorial. Just because PNG is down this year doesn't mean The News shouldn't cover them each week just like when Memorial was down they got covered every week. Every team gets equal coverage and that ain't fair?
 13. Someone said on another thread that Preston White would start at QB next year and Bret Smith the next year, and that may well happen, but the competition in the spring should be good. Seay should be in the mix. Bret's  big, strong, and has a strong arm and a smart player . Jacob Jones (freshman) is accurate and a good field general,. Preston may be the front runner, but the competition in the spring should make all of them better. Can't remember a time with this many good qb's log jambed together.
 14. Has anyone else noticed that 20-4A only has 2 reams above 500, Ned & Vidor @ 4-1 are the only teams with winning records, I was surprised, I thought we where a little stronger than that.
 15.
This year I like Shaw, Taylor, Wood, Raines, Stampley, lots of fun players to watch. In the last 17 years Sumrall is my favorite and coincidentally a good friend and coworker now. I also loved Galassi, Boyd, Cobb, Smith, Peletiere, Atterbury, Mohica, McPherson, Mayhews, the Gentiles, Joseph Ramoine, and of course Micah... But Troy was the one, the one that started it all on the most exciting td run ever against Sweeney.. Boyd is second with the tip and interception in Rice stadium against friendswood in the most exciting win in Nederland history.
That's a pretty solid list and alot of good memories,  one of my favorites was Dustin Driskell, nobody ran the wrap around draw like Driskell.
 16. Maybe Townley is the better High School QB, while Fitz is the better college prospect because of things Townley can't control. Either way they both seem to be very good QB's.

They don't care what you did in high school. They look at speed, size, and strength. And at the end of the day if they think you can play they will offer.
I agree, and also at the end of the day none cares about whether or not your QB goes to college, only that he won or lost and made the playoffs or did not make the playoffs.
You can not blame a season on one player. Huffman has better supporting roles than liberty does Fitz was a great QB on an average team, where as Townleyt was a better than average qb on an above average team.
Fitz's stats in district 93-143 65% 1641 16td 4int Townley's stats in district 142-212 67% 1728 21td 6int That along with Huffman making the playoffs is why Townley was AD and Fitz was HM.
Townley had a better completion % (close); Townley had more yardage (again, close); the TD to Int ratio is also very close:  so where is the argument that Fitz should have been selected ahead of Townley?
There isn't one. Some of the Liberty fans feel that because Fitz is the better college prospect he should've been first team AD. Well the coaches go by what they see and stats not who the better prospect is.
So Once again Townley played better that night and arguably played better throughout district, which is why the coaches voted him 1st team all district, but everyone knows that Fitz is the better college prospect.
Fitz is and was the better quarterback, football player, athlete, passer, everything. He's flat out better, Townley was voted because his team won more games not because he was better, and he wasn't as big a part of you guys victory as Fitz was to ours.
Townley was all 1st team all district because his stats were better and because he won. If winning was the only thing that mattered then Scott would've been 1st team.  Townley was also a pretty dang big part of the team, we saw what happened when he got hurt in the Navasota game.
Daniel Fitzwater 139 213 65.26 2365 23 5 Preston Townley 198 329 60.18 2547 29 13 Stats were even, Fitz's was arguably better.. Huffman finished 9-3 Liberty finished 7-3... not much difference.
I don't know either of these 2 qb's, but Fitz's stat's look better to me. 65% completion rate to 60%, only 6 more TD's and less than 200 yds difference on 100 more attempts and 5 int's to 13, not big differences but definately in Fitz's favor
 18.

My favorite player is 25 Jordan Wood and 33 Korbin Stampley. They have been playing beside each other at LB since 7 grade and work together great.Just curious if Nederland has ever had a better pair of linebackers.I am a little biased because I am 25's Dad.
Absolutely no better pair of Lb's we've ever had... Maybe Boyd and Darin Smith but not sure if they played together or not?  Stampley and Wood are definitely more imposing, faster and stronger.  Boyd and Smith had great noses for the ball.  Four of our best Lb's along with Brisendine
Boyd played in 99, 00 and 01 as bandit linebacker, unblockable, smart and great against run and pass. Darin played in 02,03 and 04 lead team in tackles all 3 years 95 soph, 125 jr, 165 sr, at will linebacker. Aubry had 175 tackles his sr year, he was everywhere, I've always said these where my favorite 3 linebackers. Woods and Stampley are the best pair I can remember and they ain't finished yet. If you where starting a defense you couldn't go wrong with any of these 5, all have left their mark on bulldog football.
