1. We were in a wildcat formation until PNG called time out, then changed the play, and it was a great call. I don't think anybody would have been upset with Monty if we had not made it, it was a good call to go for 2 and a gutsy play call to get it.
 2. we went from the game to the field to the parking lot, what next food and drink.
 3. But if he is suspended at least one game it would be WOS in 2 weeks.
 4. I'm not convinced the ref saw the hit, he was watching the running back and after the hit he looked that direction. Whether a flag was thrown or not doesn't matter at this point, kid needs to be suspended period. I would send the video to the UIL. Kid didn't make his move till he knew the QB didn't see him coming and then unloaded on him.
 5. Is the 1st game at 10am or 1pm tuesday? I thought one of the news channels said 10:00.
 6. Pigskin Preps has Silsbee as a 16 point favorite, in Port Neches.
Don't get me wrong, Malveaux is a good player but he was the least effective of all Ned's d-linemen last year. He's short and moves slow laterally, he'll be cut down all night with our zone blocking scheme. The only interior lineman that gave us trouble last year was #76 from SC and Caleb isn't that type of player, hard kid to move but we don't run iso plays.
Maybe you need to re-watch the video,  the QB was running for his life most of the game, and Crosby's D couldn't stop anything that Ned was doing.  14-0 in the 1st with 5 min left.  Also,  I hope you have a better  punter than last year the kicking game put you in  a hole all night.
We do have a different punter. We couldn't stop Ned's O? Y'all got 14 points in the first and we played the last 3 quarters to a 7-7 tie. We had a costly turnover and left a couple plays on the field. Y'all got the same 20-21 points you scored on Vidor, Dayton, Connally, and Dawson. That's all y'all score on decent teams and couldn't manage that on Georgetown. We'll see what happens in the second year of the offense. Aston was also told not to run last year so he could get used to reading defenses in the new system. I bet he takes off more this year.
Because we didn't need to score any more.  Defense takes care of their part.  Every game you listed with the exception of Georgetown we won, so i would say it worked out ok.  :)
IJS, in the last couple of seasons in Ned's more noted games against WOS, Crosby, Dayton, Barbers Hill, Vidor and 7 playoff games(#envious) win or lose they haven't scored over 25 points. They did get 31 on Angleton last year though. Your offense didn't get better or more explosive by losing Raines and Shaw either. I think Ned is going to score in the mid to low 20's like the normally do in games like this. Question is can we get 28 or 30?
Nederland's offense will be better this year, I think we will avg 30-35 ppg.
 8. Our offense will put up more points than last year, I think we avg. about 20 ppg last year, not counting defensive scores, I can see this team averaging 30-35 ppg.
 9. Surely Shaw and Thompson will play both ways, and return kicks.
does vidor even have a rival?
We have several "non-rivals". However, we don't seem to do too many homecomings anymore.....
That's a fact, lots of respect for Vidor these days
 12. Starting with the Texas City scrimmage, then games with Silsbee, WOS and Summer Creek, That's tough going for PNG, they're best chance for a win might be WOS, I think at best they will be 1-2.
according to the week 2 scrimmage schedule posted on the main football forum its tonight... [Hidden Content]
Field is set up for the scrimmage tonight 7:00, JV  &  Freshman 5:30
 14. I look for Nederland to work on the running game alot this week.
 15.
I am glad you think #1 did ok because his coaches told him he didn't give any effort today. For who don't know #1 couldn't play football due to injury last year. He rehab his ass off all year and had to struggle to contain weight from injury. His first game back in a year at a new position and on varsity, and those words was the best encouragement to give him. Well daddy proud of you son for your effort even when your own coaches doubt you.
I think youre  over reacting, this is a great coaching staff that has coached some of the best LB'S in the area, maybe they saw some area's where Leon could improve on and maybe they thought effort was one of those, it is possable Leon was a little tenative in his reads and it looked like he wasn't reacting fast enough, I don't know, but I do know these coaches want Leon Mayfield the III to be as good as he can be and to reach his full potential. I've been watching Ned LB'S for a long time and Leon has the potential to be a good one, but you gotta be able to take the criticism along with the praise. This is nothing to get upset about, these are Varsity players, Leon will be fine.
 16. Isn't it a little early for the Nederland - Central debate , week 10 remember. Besides Central has alot of tough football games before they can think about Nederland and a district championship and the same for Nederland. Hopefully they are both 9-0.
 17. Thanks for the info.  Glad we are playing 4qtrs of live action.
 18.     WOS vs Nederland is always a good battle. Looking forward to seeing the Dogs in action and see how we do against the speed of WOS.  The schedule I have doesn't show start times, but I believe the freshmen will start @ 5:00, JV @ 6:00 and varsity @ 7:00, if someone has definite start times please post. Lets hope for an injury free scrimmage on both sides.
 19. I thought the artical said they were splitting the cost 50-50 between the cowboys and the school district.

If the players aren't going out there to "Win" then what is the point of having a scrimmage? Practice hard play hard, practice soft play soft.
So if team A 1st team scores 4 TD's on team B's 1st team (team B's 1st team does not score), but team B's 2nd team scores 5 TD's against team A's 2nd team (team A 2nd team does not score), with all this done in a "controlled, set amount of plays, no kicking game" scrimmage, it's deemed that team B "wins" the scrimmage? smh  ::)
Don't over complicate it. An average football fan can tell which team won in a scrimmage.
Sounds like team A won the SCRIMMAGE, right.
 21.
Neumann has college recruiters through the Bulldog facilities on a regular basis.  He also has position coaches who are connected and if kids want to go play, and have the ability, they will get their shot.  Nederland just don't have many DeShawn Washington's roll through where big time colleges are actually interested.
Exactly.
