My father played for Bum and with Wade at PNG.  Wade and my parents graduated together and still talk.  I guess I should have specified that it wasn't bad history! :)

I will bring it up but there also is a lot of people not confused a bit. Honestly, and I am not saying this because I work here, I understand the two different names of the trophy and the MCM part.
Up until 1997 or 98 or 99, this game was only known as Nederland vs. Port Neches-Groves. The Mid County Madness added some flare and I love it. The same will be said about the trophy. It is only done to enhance Mid County Madness.

The crown will stay in Mid County, just not on Neds side of the tracks.

I have to differ with you on that. He introduced my son to several coaches when they came to the school. I don't know what you think, but Coach Stoker works very hard on helping many of the seniors get recruited. If you have been involved with college recruiting, you will know that it really comes down to the parents and player to do the job!

I had this big long write up but deleted it, instead, here is my quick version opinion. If a kid playing at Nederland, or any other high school, wants to play at the next level, and thinks they have the tools to do so, go prove it on the field, get their name in recruiting data base and go to college camps. Simply being a camp phenom will get you an offer from some level of college. I have a different opinion on what Nederland coaches will do for their players. I happen to think they do all they need to do. Be careful what you wish for too. A full ride to play college ball is a hard ride to finish. Your son will go through things you can't imagine just to get that degree at the end. I can't even attempt to write down in words the dedication it requires to finish what they start, nor can I explain the gratitude for finishing. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Thanks Mr. Mayfield!!! We're planning for the Dallas trip now. I think I want to get him up there early so he can get a good dinner and a good nights rest! Then we will start out that morning saying a prayer like we did Sunday and get him a light breakfast. Then he will bring the DFW that same heat he brought in the qualifier!
