Nederland submitted an eligibility waiver for QB Kevin Laday, who played in Nederland's 51-9 win over Livingston.  On Friday, the UIL notified Nederland that they had denied the waiver, but the decision to vote for a forfeit was up to the 22-5A district executive committee.  They voted today that Nederland was to forfeit their win against Livingston.

That game OF lost 41-7 was a very bad outing for us.  No excuses, we lost and earned that lost.  However, over the last 3 weeks OF has made some improvements and are not the same team that lost by 34 points.  I think everyone of our 2 way starters are 100% healthy for the first time.
Granted, I'm sure Liberty isn't the same team from a month ago.
With that said, OF needs to make sure they don't fumble the ball to keep the game within reach.
But I still think this year's game will be an uphill battle for OF against Liberty.

I haven't seen him throw the ball much. We put pressure on him since we had 9 in the box. Who's the back Qb? He looked like a big kid

100 percent correct.   And going into LCM game, the starter was 3 of 9 on the season and the backup 2 of 9 through the air.  They just aren't equipped to be a big threat through the air.  But I do get the point and agree that Kress could be very effective with read option.

Kress is a heck of a QB for the wing-T . Not sure what happened but I hope he's ok.

That was a very good game by both team. Both team left it in the field tonight

Well I've been debating on whether not to comment or not cause I trust our coaching staff and believe in what they're doing, but when your best running back only touches the ball one time in the first half and only 6 times total, something is wrong with this picture. I believe his stat line was something like 6 carries for 75 yards. I'm not coach bashing, but how does this happen? I'm sure Kirbyville had game planned to stop McGee, and they stacked the line and brought the house most of the night, but we see that every week in this offense. Just really didn't understand why he didn't get more touches.
Also we're still very vanilla right now on offense, probably didn't run more than 5 different plays the other night, we just ran them to both sides of the field.
With all that said Kirbyville definitely had the speed advantage and deserved to win the game. We had our opportunities, fumbled inside the 30 yard line after a long drive and missed a field goal as well.
Haven't seen Woodville but judging by their scores the last two weeks our defense is gonna have to step up and get some stops. Again I think we'll move the ball but like last week we have to score on these long drives and we have to stop the big play.

One thing for OF is McGee needs more than 6 carries this week.

OF isn't going to out-athlete anyone so the Wing T is a perfect offense for their personnel.  Try and use your size and ground and pound.  I think we found our answer that the first week was more being down than OF being much improved.  And as we can see from tonight, the Wildcats played a Newton team that is going to be really, really good.
OF will get better but losing your two best skill position players (QB Watkins and RB Moore) from a year ago and the best OL on both sides (Bray) creates tough holes to fill, especially early on.  Watkins in particular.  He went down a couple of times last year and each time, the wheels completely came off.  Getting Kress back this year should help and I'm sure he's still getting his footing.
Kirbyville has to be pleased with their defensive performance.  Holding OF to 7 points is pretty impressive.  Their offense had some miscues including a fumble near the goal line. But they will get better too.  Hopefully Dennis will be okay; kid is a gamer.  I like the way their QB Jackson manages the game and he made some big plays as well.

Frustrating that OF runs the same 3 plays over and over again then trys it again to the other side.

Kirbyvilles quarter back has potential to be elite. He just needs to sometimes look to next option rather than stare down one guy. I think he could potentially have a good game this week.

I really think this is going to be a good game if Orangefield can keep the big plays to a minimum. Orangefield should be able to move the ball, and they'll have to put a couple long scoring drives together to eat up that clock and keep that Kirbyville offense off the field. If they can do that they have a chance to win, I don't believe getting into a track meet with the Wildcats is wise. Of course turnovers will play a huge factor as always.

Wondering if this weather will hold out.  A muddy field may slow down the Wildcats, Bobcat defense will be tested even with a soggy field at minimal.  How they do on Friday might indicate some abilities for the games week 3 and week 6.  Bobcats offense will be tested this time, I never saw a school (Buna) that ran a 4/4 on the Wing-T... Buna picked the wrong  defense for this offense.  I don't think Kville will be using a 4/4 on OF this week..... Though I hope so.  OF by 3 with a winning 45+ yard field goal by the iron leg Rainey kid.

Almost forgot, Orangefield takes 2nd in district. They have a good enough defense to contain King and HF. The sportsmanship was great tonight(as it always is with the Bobcats) and look forward to following them in the playoffs. With that said, we came out a little flat in the first half but a lot of that had to do with OF controlling the clock. Great win Mustangs and good luck to the Bobcats here on out!

A few things that impressed me tonight. 1. Rainey is a real deal kicker. His FG was spot on and form was perfect. Very impressed. 2. Orangefield is huge! Very big kids. Shouldn't have lost to Worthing IMO. 3. If they could throw the ball, watch out! 4. Lastly, I was excited to see the Freshman QB, Gonzales getting some PT. IMO, he's going to be a heck of a QB. He's a big kid that can run but also throw the ball. I was actually rooting for him. lol! If they keep it up with the running game the next few years but also have a legitimate threat to pass, watch out!  Of course im a little bias because I'm friends with his parents but honestly think the kid is going to be a good one and look forward to him maturing into a dang good QB for the Bobcats!
