There are multiple “real” problems.  The one currently being discussed is right wing “news sources”, as well as legitimate politicians, regurgitating patently false information which whips the masses up into a frenzy.  That’s a really big problem, and one that republicans should be striving to clean up, but are instead perpetuating.  The attitude I often see, and which based on this post you seem to hold as well, is “it doesn’t matter if it’s fake, because whatever they do is way worse”

Apparently you haven't read my comments on this or you wouldn't make that overdramatic statement, which you often do.

You said, and I quote, "But if it’s not one manufactured issue it’s another for many on the right."

I get tired of the nonsense that the issues from the right even compare to the nonsense from the left, you even started a thread about it that is SEVEN pages long and I bet there isn't one post on there about nonsense from the right, it's ALL left.

Whatever they do is way worse, period.

I’m with you.  I honestly never gave it much thought.  I appreciated when my sons’ team WAS out there, they had one hand on their heart on one behind their back (as I’m sure Coach Brooks instructed them - he’s an old school guy who doesn’t tolerate nonsense).  I don’t know if I will ever go to another game without noticing now lol

    Same here, lol.

A coach’s job at the college level is to win games and do it legally (or not get caught if you don’t).  Period.  Wins mean money and the bottom line is all they care about.  Building character is probably item #172 on their job description.  I had a friend on my FB tell me she was at a Lamar’s men’s game and the team was out and had their hands on their chest during a recent game.  Both of my boys had to be in that line so I asked my oldest how many times they were out for the anthem this year he said maybe 5 or 6 times. They played 30 something games.  I honestly am surprised if either team is out for the anthem in any league (and I’ve been to games in probably 7 or 8 D1 leagues).  If it works out and they are done, they come out.  If not, they don’t. But maybe that will change now.  If any school (and Iowa WBB is apparently NOT one of them) is out for the anthem before this craziness more often than not, it can’t be more than 5 percent of the schools out there.

Like I have said, it seems like a no-brainer, as far as respect goes, but it is what it is and probably won't change, I'm sure being required to be present for the National Anthem will become another "controversial" issue.

Like I have also said, I won't lose any sleep over this one, lol.

it's crazy, considering the whole "fake news" craze, and all of the "low information voter" insults that have been thrown out over the last 6 or so years.  Because so much of what gets the right outraged is either misleadingly presented or completely false these days.

Not everyone on the right is outraged about this, don't make it more than it is.

I appreciate both of your stances.  The libertarian in me doesn’t disagree with Hippy, and the father in me has instilled in my son how to behave when the anthem is played.  It’s just that 80-90 percent of the time, they are still in the locker room.

And let’s face it, that is a business.  Will Wade isn’t now making $700k a year at McNeese due to how his team behaves during the anthem.  Which is probably why he is using that time to final prep his team as well.  Right or wrong, those guys are coaching for their livelihoods and they all are trying to get the best use out of literally every minute of the day pregame to try and get the win.

I see where some teams are out for the National Anthem, some are regularly not.  The last minute preparation isn't a very good excuse, imo, and some teams work around it.

I constantly hear about a coach's job is about building character AND talent, seems to me this easy adjustment would be a no-brainer, but I certainly won't lose any sleep either way on this one.

Where are our constitutionalist and 1st amendment folks.

You can be mad, upset and not attend the games, but revoking scholarships?

I think these Judges are stepping on the constitution limiting Trump's free speech.....I feel I would be a hypocrite if I didn't consider this anthem situation a 1st amendment issue as well.

--for the record, I think it's disrespectful

I feel this should be simply protocol, you want to represent the school, be on the floor for the National Anthem.

Just like not being able to choose to sit with your buddies in the stands while you're not playing or be on your phone during the game.

Not a first amendment thing, should be a standard for any school, jmo.

    From the article:

Another California small business and its workers have seemingly suffered at the hands of the state’s newly enacted $20 minimum wage.

"It's a shock," Monica Navarro, former assistant general manager at Foster’s Freeze in Lemoore, said on "The Bottom Line" Wednesday.

"It would have been nice to have a notice so we could go get some applications [out], I could prepare them," she continued. "The best I can do is honestly give them some references."

When making their way to work Monday morning, Navarro and her team learned upon arrival that the restaurant owner had made the decision to close its doors for good. The owner, Loren Wright, told local Fox affiliate KMPH that this was the "last thing" they wanted to do, but knew by Friday night the business likely wouldn’t be able to absorb the wage hike and didn’t "want to ruin their Easter Sunday."

Standing is not the issue.  Mulkey, for anyone who knows anything about her, would never allow kneeling.  I would think anyone with any connection to Baylor would know that.  The issue is the practice across college basketball, men’s and women’s, of being in the locker room going over game plans, praying (for LSU at least), etc., when the anthem is played.  Just like apparently Iowa was as well last year when they played.  The issue is clickbait articles talking about a team “walking off the floor” during the anthem (while attaching a video showing nothing of the sort because that was a bold faced lie) and dolts being gullible enough to fall for a headline and share it across social media until it becomes “fact.”  The issue is calling maybe the most politically conservative coach in the sport “woke” because again, well clicks.  But such is the “low information” society we live in I guess.

And for the record LRF, I would prefer the teams being out there standing when the anthem and school songs are played, just like in football, baseball, etc.  I’m guessing that will become the norm now and that should have been the story, not the deceiving one that has been circulated.  So perhaps some good will come of it. I’m not even an LSU fan and am glad we get to see another game or two of Clark.  But if anyone did an ounce of research before posting this trash, they could indict almost every (if not literally every) D1 CBB coach in the country.

I’m not singling out a particular team in my comments, I just think it’s not too much to ask for all teams to be on the floor for the National Anthem.  I agree, lots of teams do this with no ill intent, LSU just seemed to be the ones to bring national attention to it.

Dershowitz is a liberal Democrat and I listen to some of his podcasts on youtube. He doesn’t even hide his beliefs but then discusses what he believes the law says and means.

It was maybe a couple of months ago when he was discussing a Second Amendment case in front of the Supreme Court or being considered by them for review. His statement was that had he been a Founding Father, he would have voted against the Second Amendment however he believed that as it was passed and intended to mean, it was clear that the amendment was meant to allow individuals to right to possess weapons and carry them.

That was just an example, where he might not like the law or a particular part of the Constitution, but will state his belief that, even though he does not like it, it is what it was intended to be.

I don’t think that Dershowitz would ever vote for Trump but he knows a scam when he sees it.

Would be nice if all judges on every level held the Constitution in such high esteem.

    @Big girl  @UT alum  @Boyz N Da Hood     Thoughts?!

Folks need to really think about that, they forced businesses to unnecessarily close, arrested folks that were on the beach, but sit back and do nothing while this invasion occurs, even legally battling states like Texas that were trying to do what the federal government is Constitutionally bound to do.

You won’t get any comment, other than something like, “man, you must live on here with your sad life”.

Having a debate about Trump or Biden is a waste of my time

I honestly hope he wins so I can get on here and read the replies of what is to come the next 4 years.. talk about a #### show... it'll be all that and more

Energy independence for the first time ever, most secure the border has been, record low unemployment for minorities, SCJ that choose to give power back to the states.

It's gonna be terrible, hopefully biden pulls it out so we can keep this Utopia going.

Can you not stay on the topic U started? If Biden is dangerous or more of a threat how can you not see Trump pretty much did the same to Hillary? U expect me to go down a rabbit hole with you on this, I'm on topic and your defending "your guy"! Clown 🤡 world we live in

Do I really need to waste mine or your time listing things that you'll defend like you do on every topic on here... your 2nd in line behind Reagan.... defend the indefensible, have fun

No, I live in the real world, you're the one living in the clown world that thinks what we have going on right now is no different than what we had under Trump.

I don't like the guy either but the "I'm not wasting my time listing them" is a cop out, you're not listing these dangerous policies and actions because there are none.

It really is a waste of time thinking we could debate specific actions.

Another great idea from the democrats...from the article.

Restaurateurs in California are starting to take their own action showing disapproval of the newly-enacted statewide $20 minimum wage.

"We have a very finite set of economic conditions that need to be met for us to make money. And certainly, this bill has cast doubt [as] to whether we can continue in this state," Alex Johnson, owner of five Cinnabon and five Auntie Anne’s locations in San Francisco, said on "Varney & Co." Tuesday.

"I've already started to invest in the neighboring state of Nevada," he continued, "where there just isn't so much regulation, there isn't so many different types of people telling you how to run your business."

Johnson has reportedly committed to only invest in future franchise opportunities in Nevada, claiming that the Golden State’s recent $20 minimum wage law will cost him $470,000 across 10 restaurants.

Policies only or dangerous in general? Hell if we're going off policies alone, damn near every person with a R beside their name running for president says the same thing... policies alone isn't the only thing that can label someone dangerous...

    Debt

Attempt to overturn a free and fair election

The Bible debate, dude is un Christian and I'll take 1 step ahead of ya yeah so is Biden  but let's stay on topic if possible

For starters, he said this Bible was inspired by the Lee Greenwood song, God bless America. Sorry to have to tell you this, but the Bible is inspired by God. Period.

Secondly, he said this is the only Bible he endorses. Again, huge red flag.  These are just my opinions though

    So no "dangerous" policies?

    That's the answer I expected.

Common sense approach that anyone except those with TDS can appreciate.

    From the article:

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. said Monday that he believes President Biden presents a greater threat to democracy than former President Trump.

Kennedy said during an appearance on CNN's "OutFront" that Biden is a "much worse" threat to democracy than Trump because the current president has been "weaponizing" federal agencies to censor his political opponents.

"I can make the argument that President Biden is much worse," Kennedy said. "And the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate in history, the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech or censor his opponent."

I guess she just wasn’t very found of being grabbed by her fematalia, huh.

Words have comsequences… even when the so-called “Christians” chalk it up as locker room talk.

The best part is that if Trump declared Easter Sunday to be transgender appreciation day, every single one of y’all would all be rummaging around in your wives’ closet trying to find something to wear.

Kinda like being proud of Trump getting us a vaccine at “Warp Speed,” then refusing to take the thing after Biden/Harris hung it to him in a free and fair election.

A jury did not find him guilty of rape and he did take the covid vaccine, lol.

This thread is about your hero biden, yet you can't help yourself but try to make it about Trump.

We're down to you and Big girl, we are in dire need of some quality liberals on the forum.
