Because when I close a thread, I catch all sorts of crap (interestingly enough by the folks who are usually causing the need for a thread to be locked) that I am favoring one school or protecting another. And quite frankly, I am growing pretty sick and tired of that accusation.
I start the game thread for one reason, so that others are informed. Once a game goes final and the final score is listed in the thread title, the utility of that thread ceases to exist. And I have found that not only in this forum, but in the other high school sports forums once a thread goes final is when most of the stuff that folks do not like occurs. They go after a coach or a kid (which has been against our policy from Day One and is codified in our rules), they talk about another town, which is pretty doggone distasteful and other things that Rake spoke of (and he was one of the first to speak up publicly, others have done so privately). The single best way to prevent it is to shut down any game thread after the score goes final.
It is not without regret. The post game is also when legitimate kudos for the effort of the kids are given and sadly, this new method will prevent that as well. I would suggest for those that do so, a comment thread to give them that kudos.
Sorry, it is imperfect. But it is the best I can do for now.
I'm sorry, but shutting down the game thread after the final score is not right. I've always agreed with you grad, on pretty much everything. However, not this. Why punish all of us (many of the post game comments are stats and great conversation) because of a select few that want to whine and complain? Instead of shutting down the threads, ban the adults that can't act like adults. If we can't talk about the game, after the game, I'm out. I'll go to another board to have a civilized conversation. You do realize that you will lose a crap load of posters if you do this, right?

With BC and WOS both playing Thursday night, I wonder which game KOGT will cover? I remeber a while back, Gary could broadcast two games at once by putting one game on the left channel of your radio and the second in the right. Online it was completely separate though. I'm thinking he picks WOS for Thursday since it's a One gamer and BC is a series.

Also, didn't we play Robinson during our run the the Baseball SC in '14 or maybe I'm thinking football.
-
Is it just me or is Robinson way closer to Magnolia than we are?

So I saw that Shea Landry won the flip for a One gamer. Anyone have an inside scoop on location possibilities and day?

BS. This started when the younger Dallas started mouthing and waving bye to Mack Patterson on a strike out. Then he mouthed again on another strike out in the 7th.
No, not BS. This is what happens when friends play each other. Happened when I was in HS. One of my best friends played against me in soccer at LCM. Best friends, literally grew up with him. Before the game we would hug and talk about hanging out after the game. Whistle blows and we turn into bitter enemies, I mean even bloodied each other up during our games. After the final whistle, we hug again, say great game and then go hang out after. You see the point? When you are playing your friends, it gives you that much incentive to play even harder! Was never personal!!!

Exactly. I'm no baseball expert but this is exactly what I would have done. Stubbs vs JD, one game, let the chips fall. Although I agree Jack is one of, if not the best in the area, WOS staff is deeper imo. Stubbs is easily OF's best arm so I believe this is their best chance.
Don't forget about Mason, he's been throwing great also!

If your scared, say your scared Orangefield! lol, just kidding. Good luck to all the boys on each team. Of course a little more for the mighty Blue and Silver.

Here's how it will probably go down:
Silsbee/BC: Thursday, home field, Friday home field, Saturday, LU
WO-S/OF: Thursday, home field, Friday home field, Saturday PN-G
Are you just speculating or did you get an inside scoop?

Congrats Cats!!!! Unfortunately , we have to play next week. Either way, I support both teams. Of course 112% bias toward the Stangs though.

Really wish UIL would flip the bracket so district foes would not face until the 4th and 5th rounds. Also think a double elimination regional tournament would be a lot of fun.
Double elimination for the final 4 in the State would be interesting.

Congrats NDN's!!!!

Well, here we go again. All 4 of us advance and all 4 of us have to play each other next week. WOS/Orangefield. Silsbee/Bridge City....... I called this happening over a month ago. 22-4A = toughest district in the State!!! Good luck to all our teams (Especialy WOS) and let's stay healthy so the remaining 2 teams can make a run!!

Soooo, 22-4A was a collective 8-0 in the 2nd round series'? Don't worry East Texas, I promise you we will only have 2 teams left by the end of the next round...

22-AAAA continues to roll! Only thing that can slow them down is running into each other in the next round!! Great job, guys!
Only thing that sucks! Oh well, whatever happens between us 4, I'll be behind the 22-4A rep all the way, no matter who it is. Let's bring a baseball SC back to SETX. We have football, basketball and now need baseball!!
-
Congrats Tigers!!!!

Ok thanks, my stepson was asking

Anyone have any info on Iola's Area series? Did they win or what?

Stats? Jack or Chad pitch?

This is why 4 teams should not go to the playoffs. Pitiful
Well, you also have the argument of 22-4A. All 4 teams are top notch.

Actually 2 sons. Chad is something special also!!! He's a junior though, so I'm sure he'll get accolades next season. I hope this wasn't against the rules to use his name by the way.
