I don't think Brownsboro is being given enough credit here. They had a great plan, played tenacious D, and was deadly accurate most of the game. Part of H-J's struggles were a result from Brownsboro efforts. Not all but enough to make the difference. This was not a fluke, Brownsboro worked, executed, and earned the win.

Vidor caught lightning in a bottle with English and a great run of athletes.  It's unreal to expect a coach to recreate that and this is the second time they've run off a really good coach because of that expectation.  I cannot imagine anyone better than Coach Smith who would want that job.

My understanding is that the social media sites have been temporarily taken offline because of the vitriolic attacks from people hiding behind a keyboard are absolutely deplorable.  If I were a betting men, PNG will be the NDNs for the foreseeable future.
KFDM keeps running this story because PNG gets clicks--doesn't matter the topic--but this story will get even more. Clicks equal dollars.  So why not drive a wedge into something for the almighty dollar?  To heck with the personal attacks that students have, and continue, to receive.

Congrats to HJ on a heck of a run the last 4 years.  The team has a lot of talented girls back.  They will be back in San Antonio soon.
Brownsboro played a heck of a game Saturday night.  The twin girls for Brownsboro are sophomores.

They probably would have finished the same.  To much me,me,me on the team and not enough team.  That showed last night and in previous losses with HJ and Huffman.  The Washington team played together and should go far in the playoffs, if not outright win it.  As soon as HF got down, one player tried to take on the whole Washington team and all the others could do was stand and watch.  Washington was hitting shots and making great passes to the open man.  They were just as excited to make a great pass as they were to hit a shot.  You did not see that from HF at all during the big games over the last three years.   You might say well, the coach could have changed that but even with the previous coach the same thing was going on.  That has been the problem with them the last three years.  This team won a lot of games over the last three years but overall were a big disappointment because they couldn't play together when they needed too.  HF should be ok with the new coach in charge because the kids he has coming thru the next few years play together and share the ball.

Nimitz brought every player back last year from a team that was young and competitive, I remember watching them against la porte last year, Nimitz was pretty dang athletic. He has done a good job though but like I always tell people you have to have talent to win and he had that at fannett for sure

Now that the national organization of high school ball has endorsed a 35 second shot clock for the 22/23 season we're going to see more states adopt it.  Texas, being a big and important public school basketball state will come under a lot of pressure from inside and outside.  I think it's inevitable certainly by the end of the decade.  I say go ahead and do it now.  Start a pilot with 6A district and post season play and then let it filter down.

I still say that the kids will love it, the parents and fans will love it and eventually even the coaches will love it.  The referees won't love it but they'll adapt.  The staff running the clock won't love it but they'll adapt as well.
I think a shot clock adds an interesting level of complexity to the game that high school kids will enjoy.  And really, 35 seconds is am eternity for some schools.  Of course it's easy for me to say being a Silsbee fan.  The Tigers get antsy if they don't get a shot off before 15 seconds - 3 to get it down the court and 10 or 12 to find somebody open.

    i don’t like Lumberton stalling
    but they not only ones
i hated it when LCM stalked against Lumberton with both tv news teams there looking for game of the week and they stalling play rock/paper/sissors
and i really hated it when i was OF player and we did it entire game
BUT there is no rule saying you can’t stall - and that is a coaching choice
so i guess until rule change we will continue to not like it but accept it as a coaching strategy

The National Federation of State High School Associations at its April meeting approved a 35-second shot clock for use beginning in the 2022-23 season.
California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Washington already have it.

It's time for Texas to begin a pilot program and then proceed with a phased implementation.  Start with 40 seconds, which is an eternity really.
The cost would be less than $10,000 per gym for very nice systems.  Cooperative packages could reduce that cost significantly.  If a vendor knows he's got 8 or 15 or 20 gyms to do one after the other, one vehicle operating from a single hotel for several weeks, he's going to give a good price.

You need a trained official to run the clock, but he doesn't have to have the skill set of the guys on the court.  So you're looking at $75 a game, 15 games max, that's less than $1200 per season for a given school.

All the college and arena venues where playoffs and tournaments are held already have the equipment.

Being a Tigers fan it's kind of a moot point.  They could live with a 10 second shot clock.  But I think almost all the kids would love it.  It would add a little extra drama to each possession.  It's second nature at the college level.

The only problem is that it's about to take off nationally and supply chain could become a thing!

I'm in favor of a shot clock for 4A and above.  It's not that expensive and it adds a dimension to the game that the kids and the parents and the fans would enjoy.  It could be very forgiving, 40 seconds.  A quarter is 480 seconds long.  That's 12 possessions per period and that's slow enough.

Plus it would give officials who aren't physically able to run the court for some reason the opportunity to participate and make a little extra money.  The districts can afford it.  Basketball is a small fraction of the expense of football.  I think it's a win all around.
Though I'm not going to condemn what Mitchell did, I hope this episode becomes ammunition for the proponents of a shot clock for Texas.

LOL.  Wrong.  You must not have watched the game.  If there were a shot clock, United would have had several violations.   They held the ball up top in the 2nd Q to see if the Dogs would come out & chase them (which they didn’t).   Nederland on the other hand, spread the floor & attacked the basket early.  To the point that United switched to a zone.   Dogs took care of the ball (which took away easy transition baskets) & protected the paint on D.  United struggled shooting, while the Dogs competed on the boards.  No doubt, Yates would have made a difference in the game. Great effort from the Dogs.

Clap back?  LOL.  You’re something else.  Nederland’s leading scorers were their post & forward. They were attacking the basket early, then United switched to zone to take that away.  Like I said earlier, if there were a shot clock, the Dogs would not have had a single violation.   United on the other hand? Several in the 2nd Q.

Not interests.  Just interesting to say that by taking the shot or wearing the mask is an implication that the spread will slow down at all.  When in reality, there have been more people that have taken the shot and/or caught the virus with or without it since this whole debacle started...after the "shots" were available than before.  Considering that, nothing has done anything to deter any of it.  I could post some articles or videos proving such by reputable, medical doctors but if it goes against your personal beliefs then they will discredited as "quacks" or "idiots" or "conspiracy theorists" anyway..so why bother.  But.. at some point.. I would think that every person on the planet would begin to question whatever information they're listening to.  As we're two years into this and after 3 different vaccines, one booster, two boosters, three boosters, etc.. maybe just admit that maybe they really don't have a clue and/or are just telling people a load of crap.  Just my take.
Personally, I truly don't give a crap what anyone does.  It's still a free country. I just know that I'm not going to be lectured about anything health related by entities that are exclusively money driven.
