  1. I don't think any officer(LEO) (especially this 8 year veteran) wakes up hoping they kill someone. They just want to do their shift and go home to their family every night.....I don't blame them for doing what they think is necessary to not die. I carry most of the time, my biggest fear is having to pull my weapon and use it. Not only the thought I killed someone, someone's parent or child, I'll have to live with that but it could bankrupt me in court, even if proven justified. For me, I hope my Son or anyone I care for wouldn't act so stupidly interfering with LEO's trying to do an already hard job.

  2. It’s crazy…..I remember being called racist when I agreed with jury/cops decisions on “unarmed black man”…..now we have a white guy armed with a weapon getting in the middle of police business, and I’m hearing he had a right to conceal carry…..so, the only common denominator is they don’t like cops…..because I’ve said this on several social media sites, if you don't teach your kids to comply and not resist or fight the cops, it’s child abuse…..there is a risk for every decision people make….if I drink and drive and hit a telephone pole and kill myself…..did I deserve to die? No, but that decision put me there…… Until people stop blaming everyone else for their poor decisions, nothing is going to change….I’m not lowering my standards, both of the deaths were because of stupid, dumb and illegal decisions they both made.

  5. How have you never seen the video? This video is worth a watch. This is a fairly conservative lawyer who breaks down shootings and other political and criminal things. If you don’t want to spend 20 minutes watching the whole thing, I’d start around the 3:30 min mark and watch until about the 8:00 min mark. It shows the shooting to some degree. It definitely shows the mob trying to break down the barricaded door and the cops with guns already out on the other side. If you really want a clear look of her climbing through the window and falling back out of it, you can find it online.

  6. For me? I’m gonna spring from my bed buck naked and grab the 9 (and at least one extra mag) from the nightstand on go on the offensive with that spare mag tucked between my cheeks. I think being unclothed would make me harder to subdue if they even willing to put their hands on me.

  9. Neighbor is a retired policeman then detective for a local police department. He used to work with the HPD Gang/Drug Task Force on special assignments occasionally. He would tell me he felt 'naked' without carrying his firearm--even on vacation. I asked him once if he'd ever had to use it. He said 'No.' He knows some of my background. He asked if I'd ever had to use my training. I told him 'Yes, and that's why I don't carry.'

  11. There as a period of time I didn't..... I was finding myself going to places that I normally wouldn't without a gun....made me think I was putting myself in dumb places Now I won't go somewhere I would only go if I'm carrying.... Traveling to Austin, I'm bringing it along with 2 additional clips so I can be like @bullets13 🤣

  12. I think people would be surprised to find that most veterans don’t own firearms. While I’m one of the 47% minority, I don’t carry. My home is a different matter entirely.

  15. There are several videos. What do you think that they showed and what laws and court decisions apply? Can you know what a lawful use of force is? If you understand the law, both in Supreme Court decisions and the laws on self-defense and you can look at the videos and your opinion is that the officer is wrong, great. Do you know any of that or is it simply emotion that drives your opinion?

  16. Thank you. Long version explaining why or short version? I don’t take the side of officers because they are or were officers. As an example using the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, on a different sports forum when it first hit the news but was reported as self defense with the retired officer being cleared, I said that it was murder and the DA covered it up. I was chastised for my opinion and the thread was removed after it got fairly heated but not by me. I merely noted my opinion based on the law. After it made the news, the state stepped in and took over the case. The action was fairly swift and indictments came in short order. Not only with three people involved convicted and given life sentences, the DA was removed and charges were filed on her. I found out that the thread had been deleted when I went back to copy my original comments which were time stamped. I was going to show that I called a retired police officer a murderer when the story was reporting it is self-defense as determined by the DA. I have arrested two former partners and recommended criminal charges on two coworkers. I have no issue with calling an officer out for being wrong but the emotion goes both ways. There are people who don’t know the law, don’t like the law or make decisions based on of they like or hate the person in question. Another example is the previously discussed officer on trial from Uvalde. The law in many people’s eyes doesn’t seem to matter as the hatred for the outcome does. So the long or short version? 😎

  18. Is there a such thing as a "good shoot"? There are plenty of attorneys and lawyers explaining why this was a justified shoot.

  24. We won’t know that for sure until/unless the BORTAC agent’s body cam footage is released. Only then will we see what happened before the released videos shot by onlookers. It’s been reported that multiple agents still had body cams, and they were on.

  27. It looked to me like he was clear of the car when he fired the first shot. It went into the windshield about two inches from the outside edge. BUT, if he believed that she just tried to run him down, and since he was seriously injured in a similar situation months ago, I can understand being a little quick on the trigger. I guess the real difference is this… either side can say “if you weren’t here this wouldn’t have happened.” And they’d both be right.

  28. I value your perspective as an instructor of policemen. I expect you to be more sympathetic to the blue whenever any latitude can be given, but I still like to hear what you think. Can you give your opinion on the two Minnesota shootings? Do you agree with the tactics of the shooter in the first episode (standing in front of the car, shooting as the suspect flees, etc). Same thing with the second incident… how do you feel about the agent that shoved the lady to the ground which seemed to trigger the whole confrontation? The pistol whipping, the celebration by agents immediately after, etc. Were these incidents handled “by the book,” or do you feel the actions by agents were outside the bounds of what you’d expect from LEOs?
