Lyondell Basell Houston has been basically shut down for almost a decade. They’ve had major expansions at newer polymer/petrochem facilities in La Porte & Chocolate Bayou. This facility was only kept running for as long as it was for feedstock for their primary businesses. They tried to sell for years. But, no one saw feasibility in trying to retrofit/modernize. Plus, the regulations imposed by Harris County & the Feds made refinery operations almost unbearable. Technically, the facility was located in Houston. The progessives in charge locally made their operation a living hell. Very similar to California. This had absolutely nothing to do with tariffs & shows the author’s ignorance of the subject.3 points

The average gas price in the US has fluctuated significantly over the past two years. In 2022, prices reached a high, averaging $4.90 per gallon, but then decreased to $3.18 per gallon in 2023. In 2024, prices continued to fall, with an average of $3.22 per gallon in May. Texas prices today are averaging $2.85 Grocery prices have increased significantly over the past two years, with the rate of increase slowing down in 2024. In 2022, food prices saw the largest annual increase in 40 years, but price growth has been moderating since then. Economic Research Service (.gov) data indicates that while prices are still rising, the rate of increase is closer to historical averages. Dollar Tree raised its prices to $1.25 in 2021. Following that, the company began testing and implementing prices above $1.25, including $1.50, at some locations as early as March 2024. I think it is WAY better than under Biden. Biden had an all time gas price record of $5.016 per gallon on June 14th, 2022. I did a quick search of our forum and did not find a post of you complaining about gas prices. Biden also hold a 40 year record on grocery prices in 2022........So, comparing to the previous 4 years, I'd say things are pretty good......2 points -

I will throw my thoughts here just because… I honestly think Trump—for all his faults—is not a warmonger & doesn't want military conflict. In this, I think he’s somewhat similar to my old CIC (R. Reagan). If he can get a reset with Iran, now is the time, and he’s the person in the moment. He has the benefit of not needing oil from the Middle East as the U.S. currently produces over 2X what the next largest producing country does (Saudi Arabia), and almost as much as the rest of the world’s producers combined. The U.S. is also the largest producer of natural gas. We aren’t at the whims of oil prices due to ME conflicts like we used to be. I believe I also recently read where the U.S. still has the largest strategic stockpile of oil in the world (somewhere around 265MM barrels) as a buffer. The people of Iran need to make a change if they choose. Otherwise, it’ll be the same spiral. Good news is, the other ME countries are more supportive than in the past. This could actually work.2 points -

I think most are realizing that demonizing Trump and unfairly going after him backfired and handed him 2024 by such a degree he won the popular vote.....lol If they keep it up, JD Vance will when with the same force.1 point -

Your state tax on fuel is a lot higher and is hidden in the cost. What’s your local tax rate? Ours (Texas) is right at 8.2%.1 point -

You. And a lot of other Dims. They would much rather see bombs continuing to fall, resulting in deaths, just to say "Ah-Ha! Trumps cease fire failed"! Same people want America to crash and burn just because they hate Trump. I never did that with Biden or Obama. I prayed for our nation instead of hoping it would suffer.1 point -

Not sure what you’re asking me. Inflation went from 2.3% to 2.4% from April 2024-May 2025. Basically, non-existent.1 point -

I guess you’re discounting the fact that—with inflation at almost record highs in the last Administration (along with a union friendly Administration)—many union, hospitality, and grocery workers received very large pay increases right along with UPS, auto workers and others that increased the cost of doing business with human workers in perpetuity? Unless you’re a plumber, HVAC tech, mechanic, or skilled tradesperson of some sort, AI is coming for your job. Even the famous coders will be obsolete. As far as gas, I’d be most concerned about diesel. That’s what commerce runs on. Typical, personal blends should be down to around $2.65-2.75 after Labor Day when the summer blends aren’t needed. Maybe even less in the lower tax states. I also think some businesses are just using tariffs as a convenient excuse to pad profits.1 point

Anyone having sympathy for Israel anf not holding Conald and others accountable for this is hypocrites! Should've never got rid of JCPOA without another deal on the table! But but but the D's funded this, yet they waited til we had a "strong" president to attack lol.. defend by all means Fast forward to yesterday and the clown in chief says along with his lost looking VP, a complete ceasefire would be in effect in 6 hours. Then Iran hits again and Israel is ready to retaliate.... so much peace in the middle east My biggest take away is you have ppl and even on this board that if you dont agree with something or speak outta disagreement with the clown your un-American, want the country to fail etc. We have no business butting in that conflict. Tulsi says no threat of nukes and others say a threat. Which is it? This changes how? This will be an ongoing issue til all of is are dead. Smdh1 point -
