It was 83 but that is still as about as efficient as one can get. Just a tad over 9 pitches per inning on average. Glad this was not a wasted gem. Already had a couple of those this year. Gave up 3 hits, one earned run and 9 K's.

I'm excited about the video score board, but it does look small from the road and it would have been nice to have a new middle school and turf on the softball and baseball fields.

  4. They are our rivals in district in other sports, but it still hurt to see them lose and the boys also. Few schools can boast 2 champions getting that close.

    Memorial Day

Some folks won't like this, but pause awhile and remember the folks in the past that did't make it home alive. That is the reason we are able to speak on this forum today and every day in freedom. Bless their family and friends

What a good mistake to make. Lol. Last Mariners score I saw was 4-2 in like the bottom of 6th. It was a late game on west coast, so I went to bed. Twins tied it up in top of 9th @6-6. Top of 10th, Twins scored 6 runs and won it 12-6. Astros lead by 1/2 game. Go Astros. I lost count of how many outs were attributed to Peña, but he was a monster @ SS last night. I used to worry when we lost Correa because of Correa’s arm strength, but no longer.

Well, I was wrong. Astros at the top of the division on May 31, not All-Star break. So I missed it by a month.

I’ll leave the stats to you guys. I heard the announcers say 89 and then I saw Rupert with 80 pitches. 83 is correct. Hey, I still had fun. Diaz sure redeemed himself for the runner advancing to 2nd, then gunning him down at 3rd. That was huge. Then the walkoff!!!!

Just wow. Pitching gem by Valdez 80 pitches in 9 innings. Only mistake was leadoff HR. Only 3 hits 2-1

Lowest pitch count for a complete game since Clemens….25 years, for Valdez. 80 pitches. I corrected it. Lol

I don’t care if .500 gets us in the playoffs. Like has already been said……that’s baseball. No matter who you are, if you’re a pitcher, you’re gonna have games like that. Heck, I miss the days of Octavio Dotel / Billy Wagner, but even they lost games. Right now, I’m enjoying the crap out of Peña’s defense.

  12. That’s an understandable response. I’m not posting to advocate for the Amendment. Only to tell my wife’s story if asked, and to let people know the Amendment will be on the ballot. It will be up to the voters as it should. I only found out about the legislation from an email today. So, I haven’t read it yet. Only the email I attached, and a few news blurbs later today. I will point out that the government spends over $10 billion/year for cancer research, and treatments are coming quicker than ever with AI. Universities do not research without grants & they charge an average overhead of 30%. Perhaps the authors thought the taxpayers would get more bang for their buck with a mandated 5% cap if they were going to fund research studies anyway. Attract some of the talent away from other places (Texas Universities —where our tax dollars already go—and elsewhere). I don’t know. None of this will probably be in time for my wife of 36–almost 37–years. I will say this: My tax dollars are spent to provide family restrooms at SOME Texas restaurants stops. I never really thought they were necessary, or even thought much about them at all, because the men’s and women’s restrooms had changing boards. Then, my wife was diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration—which is a very cruel combination of Altzheimers, Palsy, and Parkinson’s. When she became unable to use her entire right side, unable to dress, eat, speak clearly, brush her teeth or hair, bathe, walk, sit, stand, or use the bathroom by herself, I realized that I had never thought about our aging population, and the number of people with dementia and/or Altzheimer’s that have to have assistance in the restroom. I’ve also seen more and more disabled vets who require assistance. Handicap facilities do not help these folks. There are far too few family restrooms, and—like handicap parking—someone is always using them who has no need. I have found that most men are generally okay with me bringing her into the men’s room if I holler at them first. The women don’t allow me to come in with her at all, and they don’t usually volunteer to help. So, she comes in with me. Just one of the things we have to plan for when I take her to DFW area to see our grandkids—who don’t understand what’s wrong with Nanny. The private sector will only fund research when they can make a profit. Big Pharma will always be Big Pharma. The Texas Medical Center is focused on diagnosis & treatment. Not research.

  13. My Mother passed from that disease, but lived with it for over 10 years, and my Father took care of her to the very end. As Eagle11 said, it is horrible to watch and really claims 2 lives if married.

  14. Thank you OlDawg. I think this is way overdue. My mom has dementia and it is horrible to watch. I like the cap on the infrastructure spending at 5%. Let the money get to where it needs to be, not in CEO's and politicians bank accounts.

  15. Full disclosure: My better half has given me permission to sign up as a policy advocate and use her story to speak and meet with others and legislators/policy makers about the need for research. So, I may occasionally make postings related to these issues. I’ll keep them brief when I post.

RB and DB I think the QB replacement will be very good. Will bring a more run threat than in the past few years which will help not having a solid RB. Oline will be the strength. Got enough speed and talent to shore up the receiving corp. Defensive line and LB's will be very good, particularly up the middle. NG and inside backers are very good. Secondary will need some help. Will be very young. Johnson, who will be the QB, may be asked to play safety some to help out. If Silsbee can get a consistent pass rush, that will help out the secondary. Key losses from this past season: Farr (RB, LB), Miller (WR, DB), Gaines (RB, DB) and Moshier (QB). Those will be hard to replace. Moshier ended up being Silsbee's all time leader in passing yards, completions, passing TD's and completion percentage. He also had 12 rushing TD's last year. Lot's of production last year from those four that will have to be accounted for. One things for certain, Tigers have one of the best coaching staffs in the district.
