My comment was about the Shepherd game , but your right about the season, its been rough at times. They will play good for several plays, then lay an egg on a play. I do know that there has been a continuing shuffle of moving kids around due to players being out from injury, and eligibility , and I mean some really good players missing. Another problem is DL is small, and the DBs are making a lot of tackles, this causes a lot of players keeping their eyes in the backfield, and getting beat on coverage. It also causes the defense to rush the house and hope they sac or hurry the QB , before He makes a good throw. Ive been told that Tigers will have kids back and mayb a couple a little more healthy, as we get into playoffs. I would imagine the Defensive staff working 80 plus hours a week, will do everything they can to make it work.

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but UIL does receive taxpayer funding as a state agency operating through the UT Austin system. This gives them no cost office space, research needs, and operating budget money. Granted, it’s probably not a lot. But, taxpayers pay 10% of UT system costs, and UIL is included in that as an extension of their Continuing Ed system. So, they don’t receive DIRECT taxpayer funding. But, they DO receive taxpayer funds from the general fund paid into by the taxpayers just like any other state agency. Just wanted to make sure that was clear.

Silsbee has given up 30 points 6 times this year. So unless the defense has a better than average showing it's a shootout most likely. Run game for Silsbee is diminished from injuries so I don't see ball control being a thing that they can depend on like the past. Madisonville, just like Silsbee, can score points in bunches. They are a very balanced offense with dynamic weapons. Kovar is a true dual threat QB. 1700+ yds / 20+ TDs passing 800+ yds / 10+ TDs Rushing And after I watched Warren from HJ single handedly give Silsbee all they could handlez let's say I'm concerned. Secondary needs to cover and linebackers will need to contain. If they can't pressure Kovar and keep him in the box while doing it, it's a long game. Too close to call and Madisonville has beaten some decent teams. Jmo

1st round is like playing Shepherd or HJ. True test is how the team responds to playing down. Seems like we mirror the competition too much. Need to stay focused and keep the foot on the gas. Let the 2nd team underclassmen get experience reps in the 2nd half. Cant have all the penalties with the chance of ejections either. This will not be the friendly confines of DRH with hometown refs

I wanted to congratulate your Alma mater on making the PO’s. It’s a super accomplishment for them, and I hope you get to see them play.

We are in the process of putting together a Playoff Central thread that will include our coverage area teams, opponents, date, time and place and what team they would face the next round. We will do this for each round of the playoffs like what we already are doing with our Weekly schedule and Scoreboard. This will likely be posted Monday. We will also continue to do game threads for each of our coverage area games. Please be patient while we put this together. Thanks

Well dang it. Might have to hit up some of my fellow alumni then and go sit with them. Guess I will be taking myself to the game while the hubby works. Can't miss out on this hisotric occasion for the Raiders. Thanks for letting me know. Makes sense on the strategic point as well to have that extra time to get ready for a game that will likely be a little tougher.

It took me until late last night to get all 40 of our coverage area game info collected and posted. Can't understand how some folks think the state wide should be ready Saturday morning. smh

Even then, a lot of times arrangements arent made until after lunch Sat or later...I guess I should be glad people care but people were legit mad in my email lol

I’m sure there are a lot of communities with schools that rarely or never play on Saturdays and unfortunately don’t consider this.

With LPISD not voting for the VATRE (like every other ISD in Harris County voted them down), I doubt if the streaming of LP activities will be incorporated into the school budget. It will probably remain the same, maybe become small subscription to cover more of the costs, or they may finally succumb to UIL. I have no idea. I know Harris County--approving the largest tax hike in history without voter approval--probably hurt all the local VATRE proposals that were up for a vote. People are stretched. There is some gray area here though, as much of the technology for broadcast capabilities, etc. was paid for by the taxpayers via the bond that funded the stadium. So, I guess you could say--in a sense--the taxpayers and ISD are paying for the technology for the broadcasts, along with the utility costs associated.

Could be. I know last year they hosted a first round game. I think it was Silsbee and Hitchcock? I don't see them hosting a local coverage area team this year. I don't know if anyone out of area is playing there. I kind of doubt it.

Yes. It is completely school run and funded and can do playoff games as long as they do not run ads during playoff games.
