  1. I think Lumberton wins a close one here. I think they are a better all around team than Needville.
  2. Respectfully speaking, outside of bragging rights..... it probably won't matter much how this district shakes out after the bi-district round.
  3. I can assure you that the teams that live in the top 10 every season don't put any stock in those rankings.
  4. I've had my eye on Lumberton for several weeks now and they have not disappointed. Very good football team on both sides of the football. A district championship and 3rd round playoff appearance echoes that. Historic territory for L-town. I think Lumberton is capable of winning this game. That said.... Chapel Hill is a dangerous animal. They may look sloppy on film a lot of the time with turnovers and penalties and such. But make no mistake, they can score the football from anywhere on the field at any time... and their defense can absolutely get after you when they want to. Soph RB Ricky Stewart is the guy you really have to worry about. Kilgore's defense is one of the best in the state and Stewart gashed us for over 200 yds rushing. If you key on him then the QB Brisbon can hurt you just as badly with his legs and arm. They have 3 WR's that are dangerous (not even counting the D1 receiver they lost in week 10 for the season). IMO, the best player on their team is #52 who plays offensive and defensive line. They can definitely be beat, but you'll have to play very clean and be + 2 or 3 on turnovers.
  5. Chapel Hill looked lethargic to me last night. Like they'd have rather been somewhere else.
  6. Lumberton should win this one by 21+ IMO. Palestine has a pretty good RB named Elijah Walker I think. They are not a great passing team and their defense is pretty bad.
  7. Negative. We only have a radio broadcast.
  8. We've all been there at some point. We had a decent, yet injury ridden season several years ago but were still relatively competitive. Jasper took us behind the woodshed in a 1st round game and we looked like we had never seen a football before.
  9. Kilgore is very strong against the run. That said, Chapel Hill's RB did gash us last week. He's the only one that's been able to do that.
  10. Chapel Hill stumbled out of the gate to start the season, but.... Van was a really good football team early on. They were ravaged with injuries to key players this year. Still pretty good. I think Chapel Hill threw 4 INT's vs Gilmer in the 1st half. But losing to Gilmer is not the end of the world. Gilmer beat Chapel Hill, Kilgore, and Lindale in non-district. And Gilmer's not even as good as Carthage is.
  11. Chapel Hill was a 4 seed last year with a freshman QB and freshman RB. They won the region and almost knocked off LBJ in the semi's. They are much better this year.
  12. Carthage could probably go toe-to-toe with 95% of the 5A teams in Texas. But, the elite 5A-D1 and 6A teams would just be too big in the trenches for them. But as far as skill players... and probably LB's... they're as good as anybody.
  13. I have seen 60+ in a half a few times. But most (all) of them had KO return, punt return, pick-6, scoop and score points that contributed a pretty good portion of the points. But I don't believe I've ever seen an offense have 10 possessions, 534 yds, and 64 pts in a half.
  14. I don't think anyone will argue that Silsbee will have the fastest, maybe 2 fastest players on the field (although that Ingram kid can burn). But they will have to beat Carthage deep several times to even have a chance in this one. I believe someone posted earlier that Carthage averages 46 ppg on O. What's more impressive than that is that their low is 41 and their high is 50. And they had to start tapping the brakes in the 3rd qtr (or sooner) in 11 of their 12 ballgames just to stay under 50. What's even more impressive than all of that is that 4 of the teams they took behind the woodshed in the regular season are playing in 4A Regional Semi-Final games this weekend.
