Tell me bb. How far did yall make it in the playoffs this year?  8)

Tell me, 32, what was the score at the end of the Vidor-PN-G game? How long did it take the Pirates to score, again? ;)

You can have that game bamakid.
I got 3 words for you

one and done.

I'll take the playoff wins over that one game.

And I have two for you: "field goals." Vidor deserves props for getting as far as it did, but you and I both know the Vidor defense wasn't the top defense out there. Dayton's kicker can put it through the uprights from fifty yards out. He had five field goals for Dayton and three of those were from way out towards the middle of the field. Take away the three field goals that no other high school kicker in the state could have made and you have a PN-G win by four points. Don't get me wrong; I'm not making excuses, but let's understand some things before we go making fun of somebody else's playoff run. Vidor would have been every bit as defenseless against a kicker like that as PN-G was.

Really bamakid? Your blaming it on the kicker. I can come up with excuses too man like the fact that if we would've put in our other QB before the 4th quarter he would've had more time to come back and we would've won. Or if Bolinger had been completely healthy yall wouldn't have been able to shut down our running attack the first 3 quarters and we would've won. I can go on and on man.

Please don't.

And please don't argue that Vidor would have fared any better if they would have faced Dayton in the playoffs either.

How many football playoff runs has Vidor had in the past 15 years?

You try taking on the most productive active kicker in the State of Texas and second most productive in state history - a kid who consistently outscores the rest of his team - and let's see what happens. ::)

You can claim a better playoff run all you want. You got three rounds deep. Is it good? Yes. It's also the furthest Vidor has been in 47 years. PN-G made it that far in 2010 while the Pirates sat at home, and we still had the Pirates well in hand head-to-head in 2011.

All he did was bring up an old joke told by every fan of every other school in 20-4A. You expanded it by making the conversation one about this year's playoff runs. If you can expand the scope of the conversation like in that sense, why can't I expand it to include head-to-head match-ups and previous playoff runs?

Because frankly if you bring in head to head matches then we will be here arguing all night long about which one matters more. I've been saying all year that Vidor has a special team this year and yet everyone kept saying stuff like Vidor doesn't have the winning tradition and we haven't won a playoff game in almost 50 years and all that blah blah blah  but look where it got them. IMO there is only one team that can talk trash against us that i can't say much against and thats ned because they beat us and they went just as far as us in the playoffs. I mean after all the playoffs is what matters right? BH can go on and on about there 9-1 season but that record doesn't make a bit of difference if you can't go further than the first round in the playoffs.

I'll admit, Vidor surprised a lot of people, myself included. I was impressed with the determination and focus Vidor had against Angleton - that was a total turnaround from what I saw when Vidor played PN-G. With that said, you can't claim one team is better than nother just because it went further in the playoffs. Head-to-head matchups come into play as well. Vidor never faced the playoff opponent PN-G faced, so you can't honestly say that PN-G is somehow inferior simply because we didn't get as far, even though we still beat you. Anybody who knows anything about Texas high school football knows that Dayton has been a 4A force to be reckoned with for the last ten years and they have a one man scoring machine in that kicker.

And for the record, I think if anyone in 20-4A can claim playoff bragging rights, it's Ozen. They faced the toughest playoff competition week in and week out and took it all head on.

And for the record, I think if anyone in 20-4A can claim playoff bragging rights, it's Ozen. They faced the toughest playoff competition week in and week out and took it all head on.

You cant argue with that  ;D ;D ;D

Really bamakid? Your blaming it on the kicker. I can come up with excuses too man like the fact that if we would've put in our other QB before the 4th quarter he would've had more time to come back and we would've won. Or if Bolinger had been completely healthy yall wouldn't have been able to shut down our running attack the first 3 quarters and we would've won. I can go on and on man.

When did this become about head to head matches and how far you made it in 2010?  ???
When did it become about how far Vidor made it in the playoffs?

Anyone can be beat on any given day. It all depends on who has the better game plan and makes the fewest mistakes that day. That's why we play. It doesn't have anything to do with what happened last year. Just because team A beats team B and team B beats team C, doesn't mean team A will beat team C. You just don't know. Have a beer and a smile and a nice day. ;)

You port neches fans sure are a touchy lot. I started the thread halfway making light of the song not attempting to get into a dissertation about the history of png football. You should start your indian dance like this:

wah........wah........wah,wah,wah........wah,cry,cry,cry,wah,wah,wahhhhhhhh. I hope we have you for our homecoming next year too. Gonna be a long, lonely, sad drive back to port neches after that game. Take the route through Bridge City home; the lights of Port Arthur from the Rainbow Bridge will cheer you up....wah........wah........wah,wah,wah.

Just like the presumed district champions were going to snap PN-G's perfect record in 2009 and just like Vidor was going to shock the high school football world and beat PN-G by seven touchdowns this year, right? ::)

Interesting that you bring up Vidor's homecoming. The last two times the Pirates have hosted the Indians at their homecoming, PN-G has won. You have a nice halftime show, though. You just need to get with the program and make the fireworks purple - you know, celebrate the winners and all. 8)
