He was projected as a guy entering free agency this off season to be worth 100 million on a 4 year deal. Then this season was played....and now he may get a 1 year "prove it deal" at a much lower per season level. Can he find lightening in a bottle for a few weeks? Astros could sure use a hot bat from an unexpected source. AggiesAreWe 1 Quote

Houston having to use 17 different starting pitchers this season kind of sums up their season. myrecordwashorrible 1 Quote
spidersal Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago I question whether management wants to win. They start Javier who has probably a 75% chance of losing, then they bring King in who probably has an 80% chance of losing and Brown can’t throw 2 strikes in a row. Just an extremely weak pitching staff. Offensively Alvarez is the outfielder that can hit If they continue to play like the past couple of series, knowing the only team going to the playoffs in their division will be the winner, they will probably be sitting at the house again Quote

What IF they play like that? Houston is 16-8 in their last 24 games. 3-3 in the last two series. Currently, the Rangers are tied with the Twins and the Blue Jays for the final playoff spot. Astros have a 2 game lead on all three. IF the Astros continue to play like they have since the All Star break, they will win the division by 5+ games. Two can play this "if" game. baddog 1 Quote

baddog Posted 17 hours ago Author Report Posted 17 hours ago Alvarez…..the outfielder who can hit……talk about damning him with faint praise! Alvarez is the best player in MLB. Wow, what a fan!!!! Quote
AggiesAreWe Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Astros lose 3-1. Pretty obvious what lost the game tonight. Houston pitching gave up 3 runs which is 1.5 runs less than their team ERA coming into this game. Houston scored just 1 run on 3 hits. The one run is 3.5 runs under their season average. Offense lost this one tonight. Pitching did fine. Houston leads Arlington by 1 game. baddog 1 Quote

spidersal Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Some of you posters either can’t or don’t read a post My post said Alrarez was the only OF that could hit. The others averages are dismal. The next closest would be Smith. Actually if you look at the past 2 series very few in the lineup are hitting well Quote
