He was down with the ref staring right at him.

It happened right in front of me and it was very close, but I thought he was still up as he handed it off, but I can see the argument the other way. Both teams left it all on the field and had multiple opportunities to win. Heck off an exciting game. Dayton will need to clean up the penalties to get where they want to go.

Impressed on how Ned played tonight ( hope their hurt players are Ok)  100% Dayton needs to clean up penalties and grow a defense.

I will say that Coach Rich and the staff have the Dogs playing hard and not giving up. We saw 2 nice offenses and 2 of the worst defenses in district. Looks like the Dogs are going to have a tough road to make the playoffs this season. Hopefully they can beat West Fork and Lake Creek and come in 5th. I would like to believe they could upset Huntsville or Montgomery or both, however after seeing their defense tonight I just don’t think it is going to happen

Huntsville is scary fast, and their outside run is lethal. I don’t think they lose the rest of the regular season. Montgomery is the only one I’m still iffy about versus Huntsville

I thought after the Lumberton and WOS games that Big Ned’s defense was going to be good. Boy I missed that one badly, they are absolutely horrible poor tackling making Dayton’s RB look like an all American He is good, but not that good

So, Dayton got a free TD, on their own kickoff, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown, that’s fourteen points that the defense didn’t give up. Then after being down 28-7 in the third quarter held Daytons offense three times so Nederland could tie the game and make a game out of it. I wasn’t there, but after reading this thread it sounds like Big Ned’s defense did do a little bit of something?

The refs wanted to go home

We have been on the wrong end of one of these also. In OT, in the playoffs, but ours was a little better defined with the one being down. We know how yall feel.

After reading alot of this hoop-la and scutter about this game I got to  put a  plug in for Dayton. First of all Dayton didn't  get any free TD's  you can't punish a team for playing smarter than the other team. Then you have some peeps say  Daytons  RB( Foster) isn't really all that ' it just that Neds defense made him look good. For the record this was one of his down games  he usually puts up better numbers and thats against 5a1 playoff teams. Dayton came into  a hostile environment played hard and  played smart and came out with the win and thats the bottom line. You can cry about a snap shot but in the scheme of things Ned got their fair share of good calls too !

1. With that shadow it’s impossible to tell. It actually kinda looks like it’s still up to me.

2. the handoff appears to be sideways.

3. Nederland wasn’t going to stop their next 2-pt conversion attempt for the win anyway

I agree with you 💯!!  Dayton should've put Foster in the slot on pass plays.  There wasn't a Nederland defender that could stop him.

Nah he's that good, I would be more complaining about the Dayton defense if I was a Dayton fan, they're the ones that tried to give it away.

Regarding the free TD, it's referred to that because it's not like Dayton had to put a drive together and go work for it, that was 100% Nederlands fault, but it's not like they had to go out there and earn it by putting plays together.

Trust me that ineligible man downfield killed the Nederland W, and that was 100% Neds fault, so we know all about fair share of calls.

Hopefully the Bulldogs can play with that kind of heart through the rest of the district, that Reilly kid did to Dayton what Foster did to us. Down 21 points and to come storming back is some old Nederland fight, that I thought had died off a couple years ago.

Dayton will beat LC and Montgomery and give Huntsville a hard time.

Montgomery beat Dayton 52-46 on September 26th.  I do agree that Dayton will beat Lake Creek.  GO INDIANS!

If Dayton beats Lake Creek, then they almost guarantee Top 4 finish.

That’s an interesting matchup. Lake Creek’s offense isn’t anything special, but they can put up points against a defense like Dayton’s. This one might break 60 points.

I hoping Daytons defense coordinator wakes up from his stupor and  actually makes major adjustments before it's to late. Watch a "you tube "video or something. geeezzzs

Not real sure what happened, first couple of games it looked like the defense was going to be a strong point.

Something  happened  ? I think we have the athletes- maybe we need to play more people bothways . Back in the day Daytons " Parade All American " WR - AJ Dugat would insert himself into the game if he felt like the defense wasn't doing their job!( much to Coach Stewart's  chagrin)

The issue with this play isn't the handoff. It's that Dayton fumbled and advanced their own fumble. Nederland was allowed to do the same thing on a play that resulted in a first down and led to a scoring drive. My understanding is the team with possession is not allowed to advance their own fumble. The ball is dead where it was recovered. The refs allowed it from both teams, and it gave both teams points. But this one resulted in the game winner so it was a bigger mistake.
