The Democrat enforcer (Whip, second highest ranking Democrat) in the House literally said that people were suffering but keeping the people from money was to gain political capital.

Exactly right.  I just heard that the Dems wants to keep the government shutdown until after the elections.  I guess they think it's a political win for them having the Schumer shutdown continue!
