This verse reflects the teaching of Paul to the Thessalonian believers regarding idleness and the need to contribute to the community. @mat Unwilling being the key word. There is a very broad amount of debatable scenarios that can come into play that lead us into judging others. We need to be careful how view others. Matthew 25 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ 44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ 45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ 46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” Quote

Key word “individuals” Throwing money at it really takes away from the actual “work” Jesus is talking about. also In 1 Timothy 5 Paul tells them to vet the widows, so if the widows had to be vetted then well …… I have another point about Matt. 25 but I’m not going to derail this topic. if people don’t see the wrong in govt taking(stealing) money from a worker to misuse as well as giving that money to someone else who will misuse it…..hmmm. I’m all for helping but I’m not for encouraging idleness PERIOD. you want me to trust the vetting process of govt officials….we ve seen were that goes. No thank you If throwing money at something to say you HELPED or to get CREDIT …..that’s just pathetic and lazy as well. mat and Reagan 2 Quote

I appreciate scripture discussion or debates on a very limited basis on public forums. Make no mistake, I trust nothing the government has a hand in. We are similar in our beliefs. However, there are some people in real need with real challenges. The food stamp and other programs are in serious need of an overhaul. While I support vetting and benefit reductions, I still support help for those in true need. I still stand by Matthew 25 as warning to us all. Quote
