Expand I'm sorry.. but this thread is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Between upper classmen, transfers, injuries, alignments, and everything else that could possibly change the outcome of any one team's season.. how could anyone possibly determine when any particular coach has made the difference in a program. Enough of a difference to get credit/fault for wins/losses. Especially schools around here where most of the head coaches don't even get to see their first set of freshmen (or 7th graders in smaller districts) make it to graduation. If a kid has only played under one AD/HFC then they have played in said person's program. Quote

Publicly on a interview Stating the coaches had kids in wrong positions, the weight room was a joke, the coaches were not doing their jobs etc.... The new staff is supposed to come in and instantly do better and be successful that year because there are a lot of athletes and big lineman. Same kids ( minus a couple ) the next year in the same district and doing worse. What about in this situation? Quote

You're assuming that every other school in the district is in the same situation as well as far as returning players and/or transfers/move-ins. But.. let's say it's relatively close. Seems like there may have been some political games being played in order to hire some new blood. Sometimes a new staff will bring fresh perspective and get some kids out that would've have otherwise... and sometimes the lesson is learned that the former staff actually wasn't all that bad. Again, I'm speaking hypothetically. 9 out of 10 times (or more) a school isn't in the same situation as the year before except for maybe the names of the schools on the schedule. The schedule, classification, and graduation have more to do with what we're talking about than most other variables. jv_coach 1 Quote

Great coaches will make a difference with out an offseason. There aren’t many great ones out there. Over half of ALL hires are done deals with brother in laws or ADs drinking buddies or coaches in THSCA politics which looks good to many Superintendents which means he’s a brown nosed and politicker. I’ve worked for 11 coaches in 33 years of football. 2 great, 1 average, 2 below average and 6 AWFUL SELFISH for $ only. Reagan 1 Quote

Etc, Etc... Expand Or a baseball program needing the spotlight, lol. We hired a recent state finalist HC to be an assistant with our baseball program. Our football program could be described as a backyard tire fire. No offense intended, of course. Have you seen the new turf on our diamond? A GOOD coach will make difference in year one if talent is static and the kids/community buy in.... the improvement is more noticeable if the previous coaching was subpar. It's also laughable when an outgoing coach wants to take credit for the new coach's success.... I've seen it happen. Reagan 1 Quote
