Richmond George Ranch 63 Nederland 30/Final

There are teams out there that are better than GRHS? Man, that RB must have ended up with 400+ yards. Would like to see him in burnt orange. Story of the game was GRHS o-line.

Why do we seem to get the teams that move up a classification the following year (Smithson Valley ring a bell)? GRHS had enough players to make another team.

Smithson Valley game was all I could think about last night after seeing GRHS trot their offense and defense out there. Their lines were monsters.

Congrats to the Bulldogs and good luck GRHS.

The majority of the time when the SETX teams get beat in the playoffs it's because of how poorly we match up at the line of scrimmage. The two mid-county teams advance to the second round and give up a combined 895 rushing yards to their two opponents. 10ypc for 48 attempts last night, tough to deal with:

For those who say enrollments don't matter it should be noted on the snapshot numbers Nederland turned 1,596 while George Ranch turned in 2,416. I'm sure it probably looked that way too.

yeah if they brought their JV team, didnt look like gigantic roster when they came to P.A.

Ozen turned in 1098, varsity roster around 37, I saw two 3A schools with more players on their varsity rosters than them and both have lower level squads, very strange I know (sarcasm). If you dont participate then well.………….

We just have different views on it. I'd rather pick 37 kids from Ozen's 1000+ than I would 37 kids from a 3A's 300 enrollment.

I see that like saying, if Crosby had 1000 more kids it wouldn't make a difference in the strength of the team if we had the same participation rate.

It looked like they had 800 more kids to pick from, anybody who doesn't think that makes a difference is high, plus it's 800 more kids from the Richmond area, that's a huge hill to climb

glad they didn't have that early on, probably would have beat us worse than 28pts.

Bottom line is ole George took us to the woodshed....We seem to struggle with Georges. I could see the writing on the wall when GR rolled out there D and Olines, Mismatch. Did pretty good for a team returning only 7 starters, and once again a new starter at QB. Too many to mention returning on both sides of the ball next year. 2 things stand out to me...How much the Defense improved from August to Nov......And the job the Offense did of spreading the ball around to keep the heat off Krautz. So many underclassmen got chances and touches with the football that lay a solid foundation for next year...KUDOS!!!!!!

Red Dawn...  You gonna go watch Angleton play FOOTBALL this week.

I was looking for the post you stated about all the better athletes and such on the side of town you're on now.  Wondering why it disappeared.  Maybe it hurt some feelings of your "always believe" folks in Dayton?  "Always believe" people will leave for greener pastures I guess!

Guess you have no ideal of what happens when one of your parents passes away, and what is involved in the last few weeks of their life.  I was driving back and forth to Katy every day to help my sister take care of my ailing father.  It was the HARDEST DECISION of my life to leave a town that I loved and where I was in a position to impact the youth of the community.  Not many teachers RESIGN their position BEFORE they have a job.  I was turned down by six schools in Katy, then low and behold I walk into the Lamar CISD job fair and Coach Tullos knows of me from my Pentagon T Logo.  I can truly look back on my life and see the strings being pulled to put me here at GRHS.  There is an "Always Believe" scholarship here now and the blessings of my life are beyond measure.

As far as Crosby goes... They watched year after year as Dayton made their way to the quarter finals, semi finals and even the state title game.  The envy of that is apparent in some of the people that post comments here.  Truth is Crosby made it to the semifinals last year with a VERY FAVORABLE bracket.  Crosby's record against 1st and 2nd place teams in the playoffs = 0 fer. Enjoy basketball.  Last years Crosby's baseball team was AMAZING!  Good luck to any of the returners.

Actually, I know exactly what it feels like to lose a parent.  Only I wasn't there to see the final days because I was away serving my country, but that's another story.  You take a shot at Crosby every chance you get.  It's almost like you're the envious one for some reason.  I've lived in Crosby for only a few years and lived in Groves for some time.  People that know me know I have respect for these programs, but I try to just be honest with my opinions.  Whether it's Dayton, PNG, Crosby, or any other school. Simple fact about last night with Crosby is they were outmatched.  They had to be perfect and have a few more opportunities go their way, didn't happen.  So as a football fan, I turn to cheering on all of the teams left from the area and hope they can bring a couple of titles to the area.  As far as your scholarship, kudos to you, anything that helps kids, I'm all for.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
