The proposed split of 5A like 4A and below was voted down by the supts. I'm pretty sure this will eventually happen though, just not for the next re-alignment.

Next its gonna be 5 teams make the playoffs. I can see the lower classifications having a split, I cant see 6A & 5A doing it, honestly I dont really like it in 4A.

I would think that the schools at the top of the class enrollment wise would vote it down, but for schools like Lumberton and Ozen it would help a lot to only have to play schools with say a 1500 enrollment maximum. I see benefits for and against the split which I guess is why the vote was so close everywhere except region 4.

Its almost sickening.......... We are all winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. . . . Except nobody down here wins those trophies? It's ironic the area won more trophies when less were given out.

smells like football season now, all we need is that certain Crosby troll to get on here and make it complete.

Same district that has also won the region three times this millennium and is favored to win it a 4 which would be 25% of the D2 regional titles since 2000. No one from your district has done that since my son that will be a freshman has been alive.

Your district is just another sweep or two away from being totally irrelevant on the statewide radar.

Wow, yay for you.  How many trophies do they hand out for regional titles again?  LOL.  And since you are going back to 2000, your district has won the region 3 times to 2 by 22-5a (old 20-4a).

Lol, you do get a trophy for winning the region. You get a plaque for a state now. Maybe they did give trophies out for titles 60 years ago though?

Wasn't one of those Dayton though, who is really a long time member of that district... so technically would be 4 - 1?

Dayton won the region one yr they were in the Golden Triangle district.

2007 & 2008.  They were in the GT district in 07 I believe. So, actually it would be 2-2. :)

Thank you, this proves my original point, which was even with as many "trophies" as they hand out it's been nearly 30 years since a team from one of the two highest classifications has won one.

Think about it like this. The time Ned beat Dawson is the only time since 2008, which was their first year of varsity play, that they didn't go at least three deep including moving up to 6A this year. 2008 was also Kingwood Park's first year of varsity play, who you happened to lose to in the first round last year. George Ranch has been the best team in the Houston area the last couple of years, this will only be their 5th year of varsity play. Ridge Point's defense was legendary last year, it was only their 2nd senior class. You think it's tough to get past those teams now? Wait until Alvin ISD opens Shadow Creek High School and Manvel drops back down with them.

I could go on but I think you get my drift. Half of the current powerhouses and perrenial contenders didn't even exist when anybody from around here was winning titles. The day a rah rah coach could get it done with a bunch of guys with big hearts are over. You don't seem to think so, which I can't blame you for but don't expect to compete on a consistent basis either.

That was meant as a joke.. You know, when the kids are in little league you tell them they are all winners. That's the mentality now.

Throw all the BS away about this district vs another district.... Your statement is correct. But the UIL is loving this new system all the way to the bank, or Jerry world.
