I respect your (and everyone's) opinion, but I just can't stomach 1-9's, 0-10's, or 4 of 5 getting in. Might as well just let the playoffs be open to everyone, just to play more football. .

take 12-3AAA for example this year.  You had EC, Kirbyille and Buna all finish 9-1 and each had a share of the District Title.  If it was only 2 teams getting in then Buna would have been at home come playoff time with the best record in the schools history.  I personally do not mind just 3 teams going and the DC gets 1st round bye.  But i do think if the UIL is forced to go to 2 teams the will create more classifications with fewer teams in each district as a way to get around the 2 per district rule.  But honestly I do not see it happening just because a few people want what was back in the late 80's and early 90's.  Yes it meant more back then getting into the playoffs but still the best teams are going to be playing for the title in December anyway.  There is no risk of there being a 5-10 team playing for the title against a 15-0 team and even if it were to happen just imagine of all the publicity the game would get and that in return would create interest in the game and result in more money at the gate and that would equal more money for the UIL and that is what it is all about my friends.  Honestly I am not sure if there would be anyone that would not want to drive up to Jerry World to watch Houston Scarborough if they made it that far even if it was just out of curiosity.

I look at making the playoffs like sleeping with the best looking girl in school. It would be a very special thing indeed. But if everyone in school slept with her...then not so much.

Making the playoffs is special because only the top percentage qualifies. You become part of an exclusive club. it's something you can brag about later in life. Today...not so much.

If a former player said they made the playoffs in high school, I used to think, "Y'all had a pretty good team". Now, if a person said they did not make the playoffs, I think, "Wow, y'all must have sucked really bad."

I will go to my grave thinking knowing that this "everyone deserves a ribbon" mentality is not a good thing.  Kids should be learning that skill combined with hard work heightens your probability of success. Simply participating should not guarantee success.

Keep in mind 12 was the only district like that (3 tied). Its was the exception, not the rule. I don't think you can base statewide decisions on things like "Buna should make it because it was their best season in their history".
