Tarkington is better than Newton?? Wow.
AggiesAreWe Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 They will be back in there real soon.
tvc184 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Newton totally omitted? Tarkington is better than Newton?? Wow. Newton has an awesome history and every expects them to win. But what have they done this year? Their only win is against Bridge City, a team that gave up 130 in the first three games while going 0-3. Likewise Nederland hasn't been beaten in district in almost 4 years and a couple of years ago knocked of the #1 ranked team in TX in the third round. Like Newton, they were ranked high in the preseason polls most likely looking at past history. They got no votes this round and deservedly so. Past history counts a bit in preseason before anyone plays but once you hit the field, your performance dictates the outcome, not past history. I suspect that Newton will start climbing in the polls again very soon but they have to win some games. Until then................ Alpha Wolf 1
Guest ECBucFan Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 I understand your commentary and reasoning, however, is strength of schedule (so far) totally discounted? Look at Hemphill. 3-1, but the wins were vs. H-D, W-H, and Burkeville, and they lost to 2A WS. Newton is 1-2, but played three much larger schools. I guess Hemphill beating a tiny Burkeville outweighs a narrow loss of Newtons to 4A Henderson? BTW Newton would put 50 on Tarkington.
Guest Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Lol Tarkington and Hemphill over Newton .. That's funny.
Back2swag Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 This poll has no love for strength of schedule ! Newton would roast half teams in poll
ECFAN#1 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 This poll has no love for strength of schedule ! Newton would roast half teams in poll If Newton beats WOS they will move way up. LOL
mytwocents-28 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 If Newton beats WOS they will move way up. LOL Fat chance of thag happening....
Back2swag Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 If Newton beats WOS they will move way up. LOL. That will be tuff , I doubt Newton wins but it will be a decent game .. Newton will destroy CC though .
Guest Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 . That will be tuff , I doubt Newton wins but it will be a decent game .. Newton will destroy CC though . They won't destroy them.. Newton will prolly win but won't be a blowout..

Back2swag Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Should let the people vote ,not bunch of guys that only follow a few big schools in the area .
ECFAN#1 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Should let the people vote ,not bunch of guys that only follow a few big schools in the area . Then it would become a popularity contest. You can make a post similar to it and let people vote. Kind of like the Pick em. tvc184 1
ponderossa Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Calm down folks it's just some rankings that don't really mean anything and that are based on win lose record and don't take strength of schedule into account. What matters is winning games when district starts
eagleswoodville#1 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Then it would become a popularity contest. You can make a post similar to it and let people vote. Kind of like the Pick em. I agree. Plus, these voters are pretty open-minded people, from the few that I know. They have a system and it works for them. If you don't agree, start your own discussion. That's why this site allows people to create their own threads. For discussions and debates. tvc184 1
biaplayer Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Wos will destroy Newton, just saying. Mr. Buddy Garrity 1
HDBobcats9 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Man, HD can't get no love! We were ranked in the Week 3 poll and and since then had a bye week and won 59-0, and Hemphill who was our one loss went 2-0 and moved into the 3A/4A rankings with a 3-1 record. I think HD would dominate 5 of the 6 teams ranked past #4. (WS being the exception and we'll see how that goes in about 11 days). Oh well, maybe we can beat Colmesneil by 45 this week and keep our 1 vote :) Maybe the second half of the season the Bobcats can prove themselves playing the #'s 2, 3, 4, and 7 ranked teams in the 2A poll over the final six weeks. I am interested in the Hemphill vs San Augustine game. Should be pretty telling to see if Hemphill is legit or not if they play a competitive game against the Wolves.
Guest ECBucFan Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Calm down folks We have a rational conversation going on, no need for anyone to "calm down", IMHO.
Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 Thought this would be 5pages long with gripes already, im shocked.
ponderossa Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 We have a rational conversation going on, no need for anyone to "calm down", IMHO. exactly what I'm talking about calm down...
H-D BOBCAT 55 Posted September 22, 2014 Report Posted September 22, 2014 HD should be on the list soon.
