Soccer Realignment

The realignment will bring about a lot of change for Southeast Texas high school soccer. The new 5A district will be:

 

 

District 22

Baytown Goose Crk Mem

Baytown Lee

Beaumont Central

Beaumont Ozen

Lumberton

Nederland

Port Neches-Groves

Vidor

 

And the first round opponents will come from the following district:

 

District 21

Crosby

Galena Park

Humble

Humble Kingwood Park

New Caney

New Caney Porter

Sheldon King

 

The 4A district will be:

 

District 20

Bridge City

Hamshire-Fannett

Liberty

Orange Little CypressMauriceville

Silsbee

Sour Lake HardinJefferson

Splendora

 

Because of the lack of schools in the newly established 4A, the adjacent district in empty, so these playoff teams will receive a BYE and play an East Texas team in the second round.

Both districts look like they will be spending a lot more time in the buses!

It's about time 3a (4a) got their own playoffs. When I played for HJ, we made the playoffs 4 straight years, and averaged maybe 4-5 losses a year, but 3 of 4 years we got Nederland or PNG in the 1st round of the playoffs and had no chance. This was back when they were legitimate contenders every year to make a run to the 4A state tourney. I always wondered what might have been had we been able to play schools of similar size. I honestly believe we were good enough my freshman and sophomore year to go a long way.
