Houston Jones will no longer have sports.District 10 will only have 4 teams so all will make the playoffs even if you go 0-10.Houston Scarborough which hasn't won a game in 40 something tries will be in the playoffs and probly have to play WO-S in the first round. This also will make La Marque a shoe in for the playoffs as well.lol

I feel sorry for those athletes over there! They are hard workers! Now they have to find new homes! They shut the school down because of low enrollment. Jones has the smallest high school enrollment in the district and HISD could no longer sustain the campus so the board voted to turn it into like a futures academy.

4a and under are divided into two divisions during the UIL alignment therefore only two teams from each district goes to playoffs.  Read the title 4a DII.  Just like 5a and 6a but predetermined only two teams from each district goes into each division (2 big schools DI and 2 little schools DII).

Mr. Buddy Garrity knows this so he must be toying with y'all trying get some excitement going since the board has been a bit slow lately.

Can't wait for football to start so BRONCOS can take revenge on nederland and so we can read about "how the greatest show on earth gets their butts handed to them in 6a"....

Nope, the new uil rules have 4 teams advancing from each district from 5A through 3A.

4A D I and 4A DII are separated by enrollments from now on. For example, the new district that WOS is in is comprised of ALL DII schools in football. Therefore, the 4 top teams from that district will go to the playoffs in DII.

Did I explain that correctly?

Upon more research I stand corrected.. :(

Yes this is a shame.  6 out of 8 4a D II districts in Region 3 & 4 only have 5 teams.  about as close as you can get to awarding a medal to all participants.

At least it's better than volleyball. 3A Region I has 32 playoffs spots but only 31 teams. UIL did a good job overall but there are some issues like these.

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano, said on Mark Davis’ radio program Wednesday. “I did not speak to a single Democrat down here in HD21. Not a single one." "
