I am here to set the record straight! Ill be honest with who I am. My name is Ashley Jacks. I am Coach Jacks oldest daughter. No one on this forum has any clue what goes on with my dad and our family. It has been a rough year and a fresh start is exactly what he needs. He did not make this decision without talking to his children first. Lumberton simply offered him a better job. Yes my dad has moved around a lot, however he was in Vidor for 3 years and turned the program around. There is no denying he is a great coach. What coach wouldn't take a better job offer with a more promising winning future? To all the people who want to put him down and say you were his friend and stood by his side, I say you were never a friend in the first place if you turn your back now. I know of a few coaches from Vidor that wanted to leave this year. Lets not point fingers because he did what was best for his family. And that is not for anyone to judge. Show me a coach that stays in a losing program or doesn't consider a job offer that came to him (he was not looking) that has a more promising future, and I will show you a coach that should change professions. You don't stay in a program for the kids. There are kids everywhere that need a good coach. You find a job that best suits you and your family. Also, Vidor didn't have to let him out of his contract because this was so late, but they did!

$MTC-28$ you are obviously from Vidor, you're either a coach or a parent is my guess. But I'm sure if everyone was talking crap about you and trying to put down your decisions, I'm sure you would try to defend yourself. Or let's say its your mom or dad people who don't have clue are putting down, you're telling me you wouldn't defend them? I think not. If you are a coach you may or may not know "how it happened", why don't you reveal yourself? And if you are a parent the only thing you know is what you have heard second hand. He was approached with a better job offer. And if you are a coach you should understand that. You want to let it go? Now that I have told the truth and that people know who I am and that I am a very reliable source? If people like you wouldn't have put stuff on here in the first place then there would be no discussion. If you don't want someone to argue your opinion, then don't have one. And thank you Rizon!

I don't think anyone is mad at him as they are about how he left.  He is your dad and you love him and everyone understands.  Being a coaches kid you understand when coaches leave abrubtly there is gonna be feelings hurt.  Good luck in lumberton.  Its done lets move on

So you put a jab in at him then tell me to let it go? Everyone started acting like idiots before he could talk to all of them. And he did speak to some. The kids he was closest to graduated this year. Not to mention most of the ones left aren't very serious about basketball. But you're right I should let it go. He's in a better program now and it is what's best for our FAMILY. People aren't going to understand. They just hide and point fingers. No one out there knows exactly what happened except for my dad, my sisters, and myself. To all the people who want to keep hating on him, go ahead. He is obviously better off out of Vidor. True colors show in adversity. Oh and the majority of coaches don't speak to the kids before they leave unless it is during the school year when they announce it. If he would have gathered a huge meeting to tell everyone they would all still be mad and still be throwing him under the bus.

I reread my post and I never took a jab..I simply stated why some may be upset.  If anythingI said good luck every time.  I dontt have a dog in this race.  You have thrown jabs( better program, undedicated kids and running around like idiots)  remember not everyone against him. Be happy for your dad and quit bashing all of vidor.  They employed your father for three years.  Again good luck

I saw 80 percent of the Lady Pirate games last year and enjoyed the fun ride to the playoffs.  Don't let a few people get you this rattled.  You shouldn't throw your old teammates under the bus.  Maybe you are right and your dad wasn't close to the players that were left over and I believe you said they don't care about basketball....but sheessh don't say that stuff out loud LOL.  You are better than this.  I still want to root for you guys, but you are making it hard.

I need to say I not Allison (#3), I am the oldest Ashley I'm the daughter in college.  I never went to Vidor.
Also deep east texas, I would like to ask who you are? Obviously an old friend. He was at blue ridge for 2 years and did not leave in a hurry. Also, Gary, where he was going to go after Blue Ridge he decided not too before the 45 day marker. And since I suspect you are from there, because not many people know about this, I'm pretty sure I know who you are. Also, these places you are trying to throw in his face, were many years ago. He was at Vidor for 3 years and many things change. I don't know why you think you should get personal. You obviously do not know your facts. But let me just say one more thing, we all have skeletons in our closet. For you to judge someone when you are not in their shoes, is wrong. And you know that. Which is why most of the people on here hide behind made up names.

    • I would not say NO ONE REALLY CARES WHAT HAPPENS WITH BASEBALL.. All you have to do is go to Ford Park every weekend and look at how much money parents pour into baseball.. lol I get what you are saying.. but look at it from this point of view... WINS look good on resume correct? Would a AD do better if he has all his multi-sport kids stay in his program? Again they are usually the more athletic kid. Is his actions driving away the more athletic kids to "concentrate on one sport"? Sometimes more is not better.. Kids get burned out really quick if they believe their AD/Coach does not care about their personal athletic dreams and desires.  Like I said.. a Good AD knows how to navigate this issue.
    • Never understood why you can't be good at all 4 major sports. If you are talented enough, and athletic enough to be a Regional Finalist football team, then you would think you would be athletic enough to at least be competitive in basketball. If you wanted to be...... And as big a baseball town as Jasper is, where did that tradition go? Where are those kids now?
    • Can't blame the AD. Texas is a Football mecca. If an AD does poorly in football, but decent in baseball, he may be looking for another job soon. If he does great in football, then no one really cares what happens with baseball, generally speaking. He's trying to keep a job and bolster his resume' for the next chance to promote his career.
    • there won't be a scheduling problem... cause AD's don't allow them to play.. its a nice double standard they like to use.
    • Sorry, I didn't know that. I guess they can do both, and if there is a schedule problem, the kid will have to decide.
