Nederland's defense may not be as good as they were last year but they may not miss it by much, I think the Offense could be a lot better, with a solid O line coming back , probably the best running back in district I think Ned will use ball control to limit our opponents offensive time on the field.

I am missing something. Didnt Nederland lose like 7 starters from defense and most there offensive weapons except for Hopkins??
their backups were all better than their starters. Kids like wood stampley pryor raines are all easily replaced. As far as sc goes if vidor could hold onto the football that game would have been a shoot out. Vidor had around 450yds. Sc gave up almost 1000 yds offense in their 2 playoff games. While i think they will score alot until their defense improves they are beatable.

????...step away from the crack pipe bronco pride...they were good enough to send dayton into basketball season, as well as Plugerville Connally, and Dawson.

Despite the loss of too many to count All District performers, Nederland will still be very good IMO...plenty coming back to make a run at another DC...The Dogs will have most of their OL back and 3 running backs who played well last year, including Hopkins who ended up being one of the best backs in area last year
my comment was tongue in cheek. Raines almost single handily beat dayton. He had 2 long td passes and like a 60yd td run.

Actually 2 cents I'm very sure of it, but just to sprinkle in a couple more ingredients, How bout our head coach Larry Neumann he's the number one cause for heart burn in Vidor, and to top it off you're in our house this year, and like coach Neumann once said "we don't rebuild in Nederland we re-load.

Are you trying to say that Mathews is better than Neumann? Shall we compare their records?

I like Jeff and think he has done a tremendous job in Vidor, but even that 2012 Coach of the year honor couldn't get him a win over Nederland...people overlook that one of Nederland's advantages every year is the coaching staff...those guys do a great job week in and week out of preparing their team for their opponents....it's one reason I put so little stock in scrimmages...remember last season how many were saying that the Dogs were in trouble after 2 apparently lackluster scrimmage performances?  People fail to realize that Nederland's coaches don't install an opponent specific gameplan for scrimmages...obviously they do in the regular season.

Nederland will be a serious contender for a 3rd straight DC next season...and next season we will also have to listen to 2 weeks of banter about why vidor will beat Nederland and how much of a rival they are to the Dogs...robandana will crawl out of his hole like the groundhog for this...that's the surest bet in town but it does make for a fun couple of weeks on the message board

If Hopkins is not at the top he won't be far from it, I'm not basing this purely on yards gained either, he plays in a balanced system and sometimes the individual stats don't always jump out at you. But the opponents will sure as heck see a lot of his tail lights this year.

Nedeland will probably start Preston White at QB. I know they have Seau and Krautz working at WR, and they have some linemen coming back, as their Def has quite a few coming back too. They should be the team to beat in 20-4A. But, you never know....

they are. after 2 straight DC'S, they have a big ole X on their back.

I just don't see Ned's defense being as good as they were. And maybe I'm skeptical but sc lost all there receivers. Yes they still have sharp and the transfer RB so I see them being as good as they were last year but not better and I see Ned being not as good. Heck I'll even go as far to say central (or png depending on how good there freshman are) will challenge them for the crown.
Yall said that last year bout NED........ What happened?
Hopkins is probably the best returning back in the district but not necessarily the best back overall. He reminds me of Albert Hardy who ran for a bunch of yards at GP but was limited in his versatility. Probably still going to get a good scholarship if Ned has a decent season though. A balanced offense doesn't mean anything though. We passed for over 2000 yards and Austin still had 1,976 rushing. If you can go all balance does is help, not hurt your numbers.

Yes we can. And yes he was a big part of the team but there were 10 other guys on the field that would contest to him being "the whole team."

The team that stayed with SC the closest last year was BH and that was without our QB.. BH will have practically the entire team back from last year and we have them at home this year.

Last years scores

SC vs Crosby .. won by 28 points.... 49-21

SC vs Dayton... won by 38 points .... 45-7

SC vs BH ...Won by 13 points .... 24-11

Oh and BH is 2-0 over Big Ned over the last 3 years ;D

My answer is BH for both 8)
Really? Okay, keep believing that...........
