  1. He also may be our starting tailback next year in football. He is a good overall athlete.
  2. Right Field this year, he will probably move to Center next year.
  3. Zach Peevy has been hitting in the two spot. Not bad for a Freshman. He will be good for us for the next few years.
  4. Yes, the one on the list is Brittney Scott who is a Jr. and deserves this honor. Brittney James is the lady in question. She is a Senior and should have been on this list too.
  5. I agree Mustang Mom that BJ should be on this list, but I know there are a couple of different all state lists. This is the TGCA. I think most go by the TABC all state team and those have not been annouced yet. BJ was the only girl from our area in 3A on the TABC team last year.
  6. Congrats to the following girls for being named to the TGCA All State team. 4A Chelsea Pickering - Lumberton Courtney Wilson - Lumberton 3A Memri Carmeron - HF Yoshica Spears - HJ Katie Sanders - OF Brittney Scott - WOS 2A Callie Ferguson - Kountze Gabriell Mattox - Kountze Also the follow girls were named to the TGCA Academic All State Team. Robyn Cash - Beaumont West Brook Kristin Riley - Lumberton Christine Hill - Anahuac Katie Sanders - Orangefield Callie Ferguson - Kountze Gabriell Mattox - Kountze Latonya McKinney - Kountze Rose Croskey - High Island Heather Lowry - High Island
  7. In girls basketball, I think you will have the same teams as this past year. Lumberton has their two best players back and I think they can repeat as 4A Region III Champs. The new 3A district is where it gets interesting. You will have 3 teams in that district that were ranked in the top ten most of the year. Here is what I know about each team, someone correct me if I'm wrong. Orangefield has four starters coming back and lost to the state champ by one point. West Orange Stark loses the best player in the area in James, but has Scott and Henderson back who will take them far again this year. Silsbee has alot of girls back too. I think they lose there better post player, but they will be tough. HJ loses Spears, but have some quality underclassmen. I still think they are one year away. They may win this district in 07-08. HF could be the surprise team with Cameron. She is a good player and with some help, they could play the roll of spoiler. I'm not sure what Jasper has coming back, but they are always athletic and can surprise anyone on any given night. Kirbyville also has some quality players back and can too play spoiler Bridge City has alot back too and will be better next season. As far as the district is concerned, I think the three playoff teams will be OF, WOS, and Silsbee, not necessarily in that order.
  8. Orangefield has a freshman named Zach Peevy that starts in the outfield, when he is not pitching, and has been hitting in the two spot. He pitched a four hit shutout against Buna in the OF tournament and was 4 for 4 in that game.
  9. So tell us bigred, who would you put on this list and who would they replace?
  10. Props to 2A Hemphill for even competing in this tournament with 5A's and 4A's. This will make them stronger when they start district!!!
  11. Glad to see the Orangefield Grad doing good!!
  12. There are some good ones in the area. Vidors is nice, so is PNG. Hopefully ours will be up there with these when it's finished.
  13. Yeah he is moving to be an assitant at Orangefield and his daughter will transfer with him.
  14. Orangefield will be good again next year with four starters coming back, but the new district is going to be brutal with OF, WOS and Silsbee who were in the top 10 most of the season, then throw in HJ, Kirbyville, Jasper, and don't ever count out HF. Also BC will be better next year too. Any of these teams could probably make the playoffs in most districts across the state. Sucks there are so many good teams in one district.
  15. I don't like the four teams either. The playoffs are watered downed enough as it is. If they allow four teams to go, then they should make all the district have the same number of teams. It's not fair for a team in an 8 team district compared to a 6 team district. In a six team district you win 2 games and you're in. That's too easy!! Make all districts have the same number of teams. I didn't really like the 3 teams when that first started too, but I'm ok with it now. What I really don't like is the two state champions. I would like to see three teams go, but only crown one state champ.
  16. WOS will play Lorena at 6:15 Friday in Huntsville Orangefield and China Springs to follow at 8. Regional Championship game is Saturday at 1.
  17. Agreed, PNG always has a good following. I went to all their playoff games during their state final run and man talk about great fan support.
