  1. So, Lee is playing West Brook this week. Anyone seen both Brandon Williams and the guy from West Brook(sorry can't spell his name)? How do they stack up against each other?
  2. Central beat the fire out of Lee. There's no denying that. It should have been much worse than the score indicated. Lee did lose their qb early in the first quarter though, so that didn't help. It also didn't help that there was a torrential downpour 15 minutes before gametime and the field was soaked. It hurt Central too though. They fumbled a few. Lee snapped a few over the qb's head and lost about 60 yards that way. It was just a sloppy game, but no doubt Central kicked Lee's butt. Having said all that, Lee is much better than they were that week. Lee is notoriously slow starting. Go back and look at their records year by year. Three of the four years Drew Tate started they were probably 1-4 or 0-5 to start the year. They always got to the playoffs though and always got to at lest the second round. It takes a little longer to get a precision passing game cranked up than it does to start pounding people with the run the first week of the season. Just look at Texas Tech for further proof. There have been many years where they start off playing poorly against bad teams, only to come back and beat a California in the Holiday Bowl at the end of the season. Still, my remarks were because of the other remarks that seemed to think it was far-fetched for Lee to win this one. It's an even matchup as it stands now. It could go either way. Don't be fooled into thinking WB overmatches Lee though. I know Westfield. Lee played Westfield the last two years. My point was that West Brook isn't an elite team like Westfield. That's all I was trying to say. I don't think WB sucks by any stretch, but it's not like it's Southlake Carroll or something rolling into Baytown this Friday. It's a beatable team. Lee also beat the fool out of Kingwood, so that doesn't impress me much.
  3. How you can say the coaching is not good is beyond me. As has been pointed out, Barbers Hill certainly doesn't overwhelm you with athletes. If you matched them up man for man, Crosby would have a large advantage in athleticism. Barbers Hill plays a tight, strict gameplan that gets W's. They execute and don't makje mistakes and are methodical, and it works.
  4. Thanks BH. I still don't get how BH is considered a part of the SE on this site, but Baytown is only talked about if they play West Brook or PAM lol It doesn't upset me or anything, just wondering what BH did to get the royal treatment. Where I live, my cable internet company considers me to be in Mont Belvieu, but I can throw a baseball and hit Stallworth stadium nearly from my back porch.
  5. We'll see who is kidding whom this Friday. There's no denying that Lee has looked just as good as, if not better than, West Brook has over the last 3 games. I guess I must have misread that whomping that Westfield laid on the Bruins. It's not like West Brook is a juggernaut this year.
  6. I got Lee here of course...then again I had Lee in every game in 1992 when they finished 0-10, so you know... I just hope we get Moses back for this game, but I doubt it. I'm gonna say Lee 34 WB 24
  7. I don't see this score posted as of yet. Lee took it to them in front of 12,000 last night at Stallworth. Can't wait for Moses to get back, and we might be able to really do something.
  8. I bet you get Baytown Lee in 2 years once the new high school is in place. As for Baytown Lee, we always play the teams from the southern part of Houston in non-district, I'd like to play some of the western or northern teams. Maybe a Cy-Fair, SB Memorial and Klein Forest.
  9. Just wondering how the new district will look once Lee goes down to 4A. Looks like 2008 will be the year? Barbers Hill, Lee and the new high school will all be 4A. I guess Lee will be put in the golden triangle district again, just like they are now. I almost wish the new school would go 5A, so that I could root for them. I can't root for them if they are in the same district as Lee.
  10. Baytown Lee plays Baytown Sterling this Friday. Sterling seems to think they have a chance at this one. Lee has won about 12 of the last 13 I believe.
  11. Ask me again after this weekend...
  12. If games that are played in Deer Park count for southeast TX, then the worst 50 calls I've ever seen were all there. They get the home cooking started up early and often.
  13. Looks like I was way off on the Humble score. I figured Channelview would give PAM trouble.
  14. PAM 34 Channelview 29 WB 49 Atascocita 13 Lee 41 Kingwood 24 Humble 40 Sterling 17
  15. Baytown Lee has a few pretty good ones. Stephen Bradford plays qb for JV, tall and good arm Eugene Mayes plays corner. Not real sure why he's not on varsity. He was on varsity the first game last year, then got hurt, then played JV for the last 5 or 6 weeks. Still on JV this year as a junior. He's a solid player that will probably start nextyear for Lee.
  16. Lee's rounding into shape a little bit. If they can get any sort of pass protection when Moses comes back, they should be a pretty high powered offense. They definitely have an unlimited supply of weapons. I'm still not sold on the defense. They have the players to get it done, but it seems like half the time the defense is basically designed to give the offense at least 7 yards. Safeties are too far back and not attacking.
  17. I hope West Brook wins. I really do. This would make me feel better about Lee and the district as a whole. I have a sneaking suspicion that Westfield is gonna put it on em though. They have athletes coming out the wazoo at Westfield. Their third string is more athletic than a lot of 5a teams. I'll go Westfield 31 West Brook 10 PAM 35 Nimitz 28 Lee 31 CC 24 I'm a homer though, so take that for what it's worth.
  18. Coryatt was one of those guys that was better in college than he was in high school. You could tell he had the potential from his size, but he wasn't any dominator at the high school level. 1985 Houston Yates was a pretty hard hitting squad. All of those Yates teams from the 80's really, but that one in particular.
  19. I saw a couple of times when Central had the angle and Lee's backs and receivers out ran the angle, left them eating dust and got to the corner, so I guess it all depended on the angle from which you were watching. Central is a fast team. Do they have more speed than Lee? Nah. They are just better. They hit harder and know how to play ball better.
  20. LOL It wouldn't have mattered either way, but the second string qb for Lee is not even in the same league as Jeremy Moses. Lee won't be able to throw the ball more than 20 yards downfield until Moses comes back. The second string qb on varsity is probably the 4th best qb in the program. The JV qb should come up and play now. He would be a much better option. Again, Central was going to win the game either way, but the second string qb was a HUUGGEE dropoff.
  21. Central beat the fire outta Lee tonight. Lee's qb went down in the first quarter, but it woukldn't have mattered. Olin has had 9 months to figure out what to do when a team blitzes every play. He still hasn't quite figured out a way to beat it yet. It reminds me of the Texas-/WAsh St Holiday Bowl a few years back....except worse. It's a jailbreak every time the center snaps it. It turns into hail mary tosses and hoping for some luck. It's ridiculous. I can only hope that Olin hasn't been calling the plays, because if he has, there's no hope. Central has a good defense. They play too many both ways though which I think will hurt them sooner or later. They should let Williams just focus on playing qb, because the backup qb is a huge dropoff. Anyways, looks like another long year for Lee. The qb left with a brace on his leg so it was probably bad.
  22. Lee JV won 20-18 Lee freshman B won 22-8 Lee freshman A won 19-0 I was able to see Lee freshman B and the first half of freshman A. In A team action: Central has a really fast quarterback and a couple tall receivers that will probably develop into good players. They also have a good running back. They were just too small along the front lines. Also, looked as if they hadn't really practiced on special teams. Lee's first score came when XCentral tried to punt from their own end zone. The punter kicked the ball straight into the ground and it hopped up and a Lee guy grabbed it at the 7 yard line and ran it in for a punt return lol Never had seen anything like it before. The ball never got over 5 feet off the ground, just one bounce right into the guy's hands. Central got stopped on a goal line stand late int he second quarter that could have gotten them to within 13-6. They were first and goal from about the 3. They couldnt punch it in. Their best play the whole first half was the quarterback bootleg. that's virtually the only play that got them any yards. But they do have some athletes once they get it together. Lee A team has about 6 or 7 guys that will be on varsity next year. They have two running backs that are both pretty physical and fast. The quarterback is a decent athlete with a nice arm. One of the receivers is a decent height and really fast and agile. They have an OL/DL that is probably 6'3" 245 right now. He was doing a good job on that goal line stand. The best player for either team was a 5'7" 145 lb(guesstimate) linebacker for Lee named Juan Aviles. Not sure how he will do on higher levels when others catch up to his level of football IQ and what not. He is just a bad lil dude in there right now. He brings the wood and is very active and intelligent. I wouldn't say he'll be on varsity next year, although he could be if he grows a couple inches. He's just one of them guys that is too smart and physical and advanced for other 9th graders. Everyone else is pattycaking around and he's in there laying the wood. Anyway, I'm anxious to see Central's varsity. I hear they have a super fast receiver and a good qb, so I can't wait.
  23. I absolutely disagree with this. Vidor would fall into the same boat as a Katy or Westlake. Vidor doesn't have the athletes necessary to go out and roll all over a team like North Shore or Westfield. They better make sure they have a program in place. They need to learn that program from the moment they step into organized football. They need to learn and relearn and perfect that system as they go though junior high. and they better know the system like the back of their hand by the time they are 10th graders. Without great speed and athleticism, you have to out-execute the other team. You have to know everyone of your responsibilities. Every single player has to be in the right place and doing the right thing on every play. You have to be a well oiled machine. A good weight lifting program wouldn't hurt. But I think in a situation where you don't have the athletes that other schools do, it definitely matters what they are doing as 8 or 9 years olds.
  24. Just because he got a scholarship to UT, doesn't mean he is "rated" properly by those that do the ratings. Rashad Bobino got a scholly to UT too, but he was vastly underrated. He wasn't underrated to those at LaMarque that saw him everyday of course, but to others that just looked at the recruiting rankings, they probably underrated him.
