  1. I think Sterling also tied West Brook the year that WB went on to win state. My dad was at the game. I was only about 7 at the time, so I didn't make that one. I know he said that something weird happened. Sterling was up 7-0 late I believe and tried to kick a field goal to put the game away and got it blocked and returned for a td. At least I think that was the story. Maybe a WB fan will know better what happened.
  2. I honestly think Olin is pointing to this year as his last year. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him leave after this one. We are opening the new school. Lee's talent base will be severely depleted when that happens, even though we will be 4A. Still, 4A or no, there won't be as much talent with the new zoning. I've pointed to this year as the year since seeing this group as freshmen. They beat the fool out of everybody except Spring Westfield, who beat them 8-0. That was without Josh Jones and Jarvis Moore though who were both on varsity as freshmen. But, to answer your question, Lee will have a ton of talent. Josh Jones, who started at Strake Jesuit last year, is transferring back to Lee(played on varsity as a freshman a little bit at Lee before transferring to SJ). He will be the starting qb. I have heard that a 2nd team all district defensive lineman from Sterling is transferring to Lee for some reason or another. If you count those 2 as starters coming back, Lee has 8 starters back on offense and 9 back on defense from what was a pretty solid team this past year. I'm very excited about the upcoming season. The most excited I've been in quite a while. Watch us not even make the playoffs now lol
  3. I think they were just starting to use facemasks the last time Baytown Sterling made it. Actually, I would guess it was 1985. Seems like forever ago, considering we(Baytown schools) have been in 6 team districts a lot of those years, with 3 teams advancing to the playoffs. You would think they would stumble into one at some point. That has to be one of the longest streaks in 5A. Sterling was actually a football powerhouse in the 70's and early 80's. How the mighty have fallen. Lee hadn't made the playoffs much lately either until Olin got here. 1979 they almost made it to state, losing to SB Memorial. They made the playoffs in 1983, 1986 and 1988 I believe. Then they finally started back up in 1994 and have made it about 10 times since then.
  4. I have a feeling West Brook is going to be better than expected. Giving the ball to Michael 20+ times a game could be bad news for the defenses. I think Lee, West Brook and Humble should be in the playoffs, with Kingwood and PAM fighting it out for the 4th spot. I give the slight edge to Kingwood, not even knowing what they have really.
  5. Baytown Lee Jarvis Moore, RB, 1st team all district, starter since freshman year Kevin Craft, WR, starter since 10th grade, injured most of last year or would have been a shoo-in for all district Adam Rivera, Center, starter since 10th grade Michael Mahan, WR, second team all district JT Cleveland, DT, first team all district Thomas Bates, S, second team all district Reggie Butler, S, second team all district
  6. Baytown Lee will have their best team in a good while. We finished up 7-4 this year, narrowly losing to North Shore in the playoffs in double overtime. We will have 8 starters back on defense and 8 more on offense. The freshman team was 8-1, so we will get some help from there too.
  7. Bruins will be much better next year in my opinion. Stump tried too hard to make this a passing team. Next year, he will have no choice but to ride the two running backs. Christian Michael will be one of the top running backs in the state next year as a junior. He was the best player on this year's team by a wide margin. Should have gotten the ball to him today more often. Michael needs to touch the ball a minimum of 25 times a game. It's a tragedy they had to lose with their best player sitting on the sidelines. Good season, but Cy-Falls was beatable today. Too many dumb mistakes. Blocked punts, snaps before the qb was ready to receive them that went sailing past the qb(at least 3 of those)
  8. At Berry Stadium in Cy Fair. RR was up 31-7 last I heard.
  9. That was Cy Falls that was up. Cy Falls won
  10. I agree. What's the point of this grand stadium, that you pretty much are you going to play yourself out of its capacity fairly early. North Shore's stadium is the same way. I'd take Stallworth here in Baytown over them any day now that we have fieldturf. If they could only clean the bird poop off the seats and get some better bathrooms lol A couple of sinks in the restroom would be nice! Anyone from Baytown listening to this????
  11. North Shore and Pearland Stratford and Cy Falls Lamar and Cy Fair maybe the other thats gonna be at Reliant, can't think right off hand.
  12. [Hidden Content] How can you not love this song. Thanks again for the heads up ont he name of it. Made me wish I had brought my umbrella.
  13. Thanks for the answer pashsu. I also liked Central's band when they came to Baytown early this year. Maybe even moreso than what they do at half, I like the fact they just constantly play in the stands. I hate whenm Lee band just sits around,m sit around...then decides to play boot scoot boogie, then sits around some more lol. Central played from the word go and didn't stop the whole first quarter I don't think
  14. The band did a nice job at the game against LaPorte. The LaPorte side gave them a standing ovation. I was entertained as well. I have a question that's been bugging me for years though. What's the name of the song that causes the fans to pull out their umbrellas, put them over their head and start spinning them around?? That never fails to get me pumped up.
  15. I'm gonna say 56-54....West Brook
  16. I thought maybe his family just moved????? Hey, I'm not complaining. Like I said, I've never seen him before, but he went from not even being on the team to being our best linebacker. Played the whole game against North Shore and did quite well.
  17. Missed too mnany wide open passes early that could have put big mo on PAM's side. Then Davon Brown went down and that was all she wrote. Not sure why PAM was going for 2 every time. they would cut a 28 point lead to 22, then go for 2. What's the point. Also, they never once tried an onside kick. Then they punnted the ball, down 29, with 5 minutes left... Why? Miracles sometimes happen. Why punt?
  18. WB looked good out there today, particularly once they came to the realiztion that they are a running team. They need to pound, pound, pound the ball, then pound a little bit more. The Bruins' qb can make a few passes here and there, but dn't ask him to do much more than that. Just keep pounding the ball and you might be able to work something in this playoff run. Memorial surprised me. they had some pretty fast guys. WB got a little lucky that Adamek or whatever his name got hurt and didn't come back in. I think it would have come down to the end had he stayed in at qb.
  19. What can you tell me about this Rakim Cleveland guy that moved to Baytown? He just moved in and started and played the whole game for Lee against North Shore.
  20. Well Lee gave it all they had out there tonight. Moses was hobbling around and barely able to pick himself up at the end of the night. NS was punishing him on every throw. Lee just couldn't make the plays when they needed to...had 1st and goal at the 7, down by 3 in the first overtime, td wins the game. Just couldnt punch it in...
  21. lol North Shore has been struggling lately. They were tied at the half 3-3 with Pasadena Memorial. Pasadena Memorial only beat Sterling 14-13. I don't think it will be easy, but North Shore isn't unbeatable by any stretch. And if you think our football team's in trouble, wait til yu see our basketball team lol I think we were 5-27 last year and 1-13 in district.
  22. Not only does this guy rewrite the record books, he rewrites the articles for the Nederland paper too you're tellin me?...this guy's unbelievable.
  23. Might as well put the game at LaPorte. Is this supposed to be a neutral site? lol Deer Park stadium can't be more than 5 or 6 miles from LaPorte high school. That's a 10 minute drive for LP and 100 minutes for PAM. They should have tried to put it in Baytown somehow. At least that would cut down the PAM drive by 25 minutes or so and be about the most neutral site you could get with a respectable stadium. Oh well, I'll still probably go watch and root on PAM. Gotta make the district look good. Hopefully Lee pulls out the win Firday, so I won't be too depressed to go Saturday
