I guess so. Who was the FB I’m forgetting? We ran the full bone then. I’m forgetting someone…
I’ll have to dig up my old yearbooks.
Not sure.
There is some footage of LP from 1979 against Clear Creek on YouTube though. Maybe it will ring a bell for you? I just checked and you're right, there were three in the backfield but I'm not sure who that third one was.

Memory is playing tricks on you. Whitmore was the offensive tackle. He went to UT.
Byars, walker and hill were in the backfield.

29-28. At the end of the game. LP led 28-0 at half. Somehow, Lee wasn’t called for a single penalty in the 2nd half, and we were called for at least 2 every series.
Lot of upset people after that one. Those refs never officiated again. The game was protested. But, UIL didn’t hear in time. Lee lost the next game. Memorial I think it was…
That was the only game we lost that year. Beat Stratford, PA Jefferson, & some other really good teams.
Remember it well. I was a Soph.
Byars and Walker went to OU. Don’t remember Whitmore going.
(I think Goslin is a play on Olin. 😉😜)
28 to 14 at the half.
Bubba Hill was the other running back.
Goslin is what Baytown junior and Horace Mann junior mascots were. Red goslins and green goslins. A gosling is a young goose. A Gander is a male goose, hence the phrase what's good for the goose is good for the gander Horace Mann is now the gators and Baytown junior is just goslins.

GCM has the demographics to have a chance to compete and win playoff games. Just can't do it with their best talent playing for CE King and Barbers Hill.
Lee doesn't really have the mix of athletes to compete at a high level any more.

No way. We have people from all around a lot from Deer Park for some reason. I know very little people from Baytown. A lot of us have been here most if our lives.
Maybe.
In mid 90s, BH had 1850 students total. Now, they have 7,300.
Maybe they all came from Deer Park, but they certainly come from somewhere.

You know REL has the 5A-2 State Champ Richmond Randle in-District, right? Plus Iowa Colony and Fort Bend Marshall AND Texas City to fight with over 4th place? Not exactly an “easy” District.
Where they’ve been the last half-decade, BTW, is a LOT better than RSS or GCM, regardless of schedule. REL has beaten both handily the last 5 years straight.
Agreed with everything else you said, though, and I’ll add they’ve got some good kids coming up in their feeder Jr schools as well who are staying right where they are. Looking at the prospective GCCISD rezoning maps it looks like both possible outcomes are going to be kind to REL as well. Things are looking up over on Market St, especially with a HC who knows what he’s doing.
At the start of this season it was decided that 9-5A-2 wouldn’t be covered here. I hope that next year the folks in charge decide otherwise. It’s gonna be interesting…
I know. I was just trying to be fair. Lee has been way better but this year it was not quite the same mismatch with the other two Baytown teams as it has been. Good to hear that BJS and HMJ are bringing 8n some talent.

Not really fair to compare overall record. Lee has a much easier district schedule. Sterling closed the gap a bit this year. I think Lee has a pretty good freshman group this year that will supplement things next year. Will need to replace the QB again though. I'd guess they will be right about where they have been the last half decade.

People from Houston will travel and people from Dallas won't.
That's why Houston had low attendance numbers.

I just reviewed those formulas for new schools and my understanding is it only affects the first year or entering into competition. I don't believe any calculation occurs last year when they have already gone through an initial opening calculation three years ago. This is their second alignment.
I am not saying they did anything on ourposebut just like George Ranch when they won State, they get the advantage of being a growing school that catches enrollment that gives them 5a division 2 numbers. Those numbers were taken last year. I am sure today they have 6a division 2 numbers enrolled in the school and eligible to play ball.
They will get two years of this advantage then likely fade into obscurity like George Ranch did

Battle between one team that recruits and another that is a 6a team masquerading as a 5a team due to just opening

They will need to let the QB run the ball. Wide open if he pulls it back out.

any score updates?
28 to 10 Westlake.
NS just made another bad decision going for it. Should have taken the fg and gotten within two scores

Why go for it in that situation?
checkers or wreckers at the beginning of the 3rd?
Horrible decision.

Angleton not able to move the ball at all so far.
That hail Mary offense they used against LP does not seem to be working against SV. The only way they really moved on LP was to heave the ball up for grabs and hope their guy came down with the 50/50 ball or got an interference call.
