they don't have a vaccine for the flu, too many different strains. They give you a shot in the dark and even then not everybody takes it.

Isn't it crazy that we idolize, follow, and imitate athletes and celebrities who have been proven to be non-essential by Covid?

Just curious.... How many kids have died from this disease since it started?

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up As of 7/9.... a grand total of 69 kids in the US have been reported as dying from COVID.  Keep in mind that some states are counting people aged 0-24 years as "children."
Who knows how accurate that this is.  And I agree that "even one life lost is one life too many."  But i'm going to go out on a limb and say that we're losing more kids to bicycle crashes and drownings.
It's time to get back to school and make adjustments when (because they will happen) outbreaks occur.

Way more kids died from the Flu this past season than the Covid-19, and way more adults have died from Covid-19 in the ages 65 and above and with underlying conditions for the most part.  Now the vast (not all)  amount of teachers are well under 65 years of age.  So in my opinion we just need to open the schools and quit living in fear that some politicians and a lot of the media are shoving down our throats.

Great answers and explanations. Like I tell all my friends, if you haven’t been in a high school from 4-6A in the past twenty years, and by in a high school , I mean sit in the library or a classroom all day (not feasible for most but more accurate than the five word explanation of school your teenager gives you while focusing on their phone) you’ll be shocked. Again, the school is a reflection of society, so hangout all day at Walmart and watch people and their actions for more shock value. The most disappointing thing is the lack of accountability by students, teachers, administrators, and schools. About ten years or more, schools (where I worked at least) stopped sending kids who would verbally assault teachers to the local judge who would fine the parents ( finally make them be parents by $). The county just said, no, we’re too busy. The really bad ones can really get away with being IDIOTS, yet they’re often untouchable because of their 501 plan.  Kids know exactly what they can get away with ( just like us in the 70’s). There are still great kids, parents, teachers, administrators, and schools, but not as many. But I am excited to get back in it, definitely takes a special (demented maybe😏) to do it.

Who were these coaches run off in the last several years?  My whole point is a disservice was done to the students and it looks like no one will be held responsible.  As adults we have to make tough decisions, the decision should of been made in a timely manner to which HD would have had a head coach on the sidelines Friday nights, not handed down the day before practice began.

I know enough of the situation to know the right thing by the students wasn't done. You can blame Hodges or the school board/superintendent it makes no matter.  No one in their right mind can say this was ok.  You say you have so much knowledge of the situation but would you be ok if your son had to suffer because the head coach decided he would do other things instead of fulfilling his obligations. Once again he should have stepped away last year and done the right thing.

No one is saying they are not great guys.  No one is saying they don't love their students.  Coaching is a job that will always be judged on the product you put on the field.  If we have kids that attend the school and we live in the community, I believe we have a right to an opinion on this issue.

Me saying current HC/AD is saying this wasn't a permanent thing and Hodges will return as head coach.  Almost no small school has an AD that's not the HC also, and HD never has.  He was hired to be AD/HC, in fact hired for football specifically.  Again my point is if he knew he couldn't or wouldn't fulfil his obligation he should have stepped aside at the end of last school year to give the the school the opportunity to bring in a head coach for football.  It's ok if we don't agree on that, but that doesn't make our opinion ignorant.  I also disagree with coaching didn't impact the outcome of the games.  Again I am not saying we would have necessarily won more games, just that we could've competed better in games.

"HD fans are notorious", most of us HD fans will always pay for a few posters.  I understand that a coach sacrifices a lot to coach, especially family time.  I am a teacher and a pastor, but when I went to college I only wanted to coach.  By the time I graduated I didn't feel I could give the time required, so I chose not to coach.  If he knew he couldn't make the sacrifices needed he should have resigned. You are not going to convince me otherwise.  The school I teach at won't let me sit at home and pay me.  Like I said, most of us expected a down year, but it was the way kids seemed lost much of the time.  Either way this season is over, now the decision has to be made whether the current HC/AD stays are not.  I honestly don't see him leaving, but as a fan we can have an opinion on the issue.  Let me ask, how many HD games did you attend this year?  Do you think coaching had no effect on the product on the field?

Agree as a former 10 year coach AND academic teacher(we do exist) students in GCCISD are leaving because of great reputations of barbers hill academics AND athletics. Mr. O’Brien and principals have done a GREAT job in last two football hires at Lee and GCM. But even teachers from the goose have waited their turn to get to the hill. It has slowed though because of extraordinary effort of Goose admin. Next year should even e better for GCM, quality coach in Shannon Carter, Lee May drop a tad since they lose a great quarterback.if you have a quality program in athletics or academics they will find a way to come. Barbers Hill has the same 24-7-365 that all other schools have, what are THEY doing with their time. Go our district , the hill and mecca

I have zero information on who calls plays now. I’m basing it off who did what on the sideline when Crosby had the ball earlier in the year and who did what when Crosby had the ball Friday. It was noticed later in the game so maybe Coach P still does call plays and this was just the case because we were blowing them out but we look like old Crosby Friday. That’s really all I care to say about it. I’ll just say I give our new head coach credit for taking us from looking like dumpster fire to just flat out being on fire.

I agree, root for our districts teams, good for us to fight during regular season but come together for playoffs just like a typical dysfunctional family. Fight like cats and dogs til someone says something about our family/district then we bound. I personally cheer for all teams in Texas and Louisiana. I got a UT degree, Southwest Texas st degree and UH masters, but my son is engineering honors at AM. I’ve coached players that went to UT, AM, S MU, Baylor , Tech, TCU, LSU, Mcneese, Northwest, and Tulane. I’m waiting for Texas and Louisiana to secede. Go Hill, Go Coogs.👍✝️🐻

The biggest factor in this and future Crosby games for the year has been the resilience of the new coach and how that transferred to the team. This team was picked on From all the negative town rumors, truths, and Paul Bunyan tales, to the tough predistrict schedule and finally the farce of getting the quarterback ready. I predicted after the Manvel game that the coogs would win district if the quarterback gains eligibility by the start of district. Well it didn’t happen and they sputtered, but still got 2nd in a still TOUGH district. At this time of the year, playoff teams are cutting back practice times to get kids well. Crosby is just getting their starters playing together and I do mean the quarterback. I believe they’ll get better each week and the attitude of both the team and town is skyrocketing. This team could be , could be( I haven’t looked at bracket positions yet) one to rep the region. They are lowkeyed and everyone has discounted them since they lost the supposed inventor of offensive football😏. I know nothing about them hornets other than a guy namedLloyd Archie was a stud for them in 78 when a small Ukrainian named berezoski was controlling the front for your Marlin Bulldogs.  I’m blind nello saying Crosby by 14. What does that California site say— probably hornets by 10, well California sucks. Good night.
