  1. Since you guys have said more about your JV teams I thought I would talk about the Rebels JV.

They finished their season tonight and have a 7-1 record for the season. Those seven wins are against a mixture of JV and Freshman teams from all over the area. Before you say it, yes they did have 8 players who were not freshmen on the JV, but 14 were freshmen. This is a great group of young players who have two full seasons of games that they have played and completed in. For larger schools they take for granted that their players will have the opportunity to develop against players of the same age and skill levels. In 1A this is often not the case only two other teams in our district fielded teams and I believe one of those did not finish the season as they had to move players up to the varsity.

The JV Rebels defeated, Orangefield, Deweyville, Colmesneil, Anahuac (twice), Hardin-Jefferson and East Chambers. Their loss was to Hull-Daisetta, hats off to the Bobcats for that one. This team is also the scout team for the varsity running the plays of the varsity's opponent all week for the varsity to prepare for their game. They in a small way should be congratulated for their part in helping the Rebels be prepared for their games each week.

The Rebels will loose a large senior class this year, but with a talented group of juniors and sophomores already on filling out the roster on the varsity and this many of the members of this year's JV getting the opportunity to compete for spots on next year's Rebel roster, the prospects for the continued success of the Rebel football program look to be pretty good!

    Great job JV Rebels!

  2. To the Lady Rebels

Continued success! You have all worked too hard and overcome so much to not leave it all out on the court. Listen to Coach Hollyfield. Talk to each other on the court. Play the match with pride in yourself and the program.

We are always proud of you all and we will be rooting for you. We expect to hear that you have again made us proud by the end of this match and that you will continue to fight your way towards the crown.

    Go Lady Rebels!

  3. Shows how little you know "Give Up"

The Rebels already are district champs since the only two teams with one loss had them dealt by the Rebels. I don't believe there will be any nail biting going on Friday night as the Rebels want to close out the season undefeated in district and with momentum as they enter the playoffs.

The Rebels showed alot of class kicking four field goals against Burkeville when they could have scored touchdowns easily. This game and next week Coach Williams has to turn the Rebels loose since they will need all the reps they can get as they prepare for the playoffs. You can't expect a team that hopes to advance in the playoffs to reign it in with only a couple of games left.

I don't want to run the score up on anyone, but the Rebels don't do themselves any favors by not preparing in the only game situations that they have left. I believe that the Rebels have plenty of talent under center as you say and it is evident with game management and the low number of turn overs committed by the Rebels this season.

Your last post was way out of line especially since you don't even know who you are talking about!

  4. I'm not trying to pick a fight all I know is that on any given night if everything goes right for one team and everything goes wrong for the other stranger things have been known to happen. Doesn't there always seem to be a couple of just off the wall upsets in every season?

Evadale beat HJ probably not, but like I said strange things do happen sometimes.

Good Luck to HJ and Colmesneil on the rest of the season and throughout the rest of this year.

  5. I know you guys in the upper classifications can look down on those of us in 1A. Thats OK we just take our shots when we can get them and this year the only time the Rebels and the Hawks were on the same field it was those 1A Rebels that hung the L on your beloved Hawks.

Could be different the next time, but thats the fact the last time NWhizzle!

  6. Coach

I have heard that Vidor's halftime is very special. I would like to see it sometime as I believe that high school football is the truest form of the game and that their is really nothing better than the Friday night lights anywhere in Texas.

I know everyone is hyped about their homecoming (as they should be) I was just starting a new thread and I would love to hear about others in the area and the special thing they do.

Oh and thanks for the invitation to Vidor!

  7. I do agree that the HD game was harder for the Rebels, [b]but I don't agree that the outcome would be different if played again, it is not our fault that the Bobcats can't play within the rules, it was our fault that Cook could not finish the game. If anything I believe the Rebel defense has improved since the HD game. Moot point since there is no way we even could play in the playoffs since we are in different divisions.

  8. For anyone in the area who does not know, the biggest high school homecoming in Texas will happen in Evadale this weekend. Not being a native of Evadale and having lived in many places I can assure you that there is nothing that compares to homecoming in Evadale. If you throw in the fact that this will be the 50th homecoming, I can only imagine what the floats and other entries will look like.

I know some of you say there is no way that Evadale has a bigger homecoming than we do, but I fear you would be wrong in that assumption. Here in Evadale the fact that the team is district champs is simply icing for the cake. The floats (there could 20 or more) are not your crate paper and a few balloons floats. These will have working fountains, moving parts, enough space for an entire class of students to ride on and that is just the start.

The parade begins at 10 AM and if you want to see it you had better be here before 8 AM as some people will park vehicles on 105 on Friday night to be sure they get their spot. The community pep rally will be at noon and that is when the awards will be given out to the parade winners. The EX Student Association will hold a reception in the Snack Bar from 2-4 PM. Pregame with the announcement of the Homecoming Queen will be at 6:30 and oh yea the District 23A Champions will be playing Chester at 7:30.

If you don't believe me you owe it to yourself to come and see it. I didn't believe it until I saw it either!
