  1. The Rebels had almost identical games against both teams, but the game with the Bulldogs was early in district and the Jackets were last week.

I can say that I would have to give the advantage to the Bulldogs at this point. I know this is kind of the UT/A&M game for these guys, but Chester is so one dimensional with the run that it is easily defended and I believe that the Dogs can cover that easier than the Jackets can cover the Dog receivers.

  2. One thing is for sure the Rebels are playoff bound!

I can look at the bracket and see that Region 3 is stacked with plenty of great teams. Everyone knows that, but the Rebels have been making believers out of doubters since district started. If the old adage that "offense wins games, but defense wins championships!" Then I feel pretty good about the Rebels chances to advance.

According to several people from HD we shut down the best RB in the state (Cook) and from those from WH we shut down the best QB in the state (Copeland). According to both schools we shut down two of the best teams in the state and they scored a combined 6 points.

Just like with HD and WH we beat them and they don't get another shot, well theoretically WH could get another shot. It is one game on one night and anything can happen. At this stage of the season it is about who wants it. All the teams have proved that they are the better or best teams in their districts. It is time to begin the elimination process.

One game at a time and the Rebels will be ready.

  3. The Rebels are lose 15 seniors this year, a huge class for even bigger schools, but the Rebels will still be a good team in 2009.

A quick check of the roster revels that 14 players are returning for 2009. 4 defensive starters, 4 offensive starters and with the winning the Rebels did this year all the others received significant playing time. The JV players coming up have played a full season (7-1) instead of sitting the bench or being tossed into the varsity games when they were not quite ready.

The winning tradition that has been established has large numbers of young men coming out for the team and that trend will continue. It should also be noted that of the 14 lettermen returning the majority of them are sophomores this year and have two more seasons to play for the Rebels.

Every player should be better as they gained experience, but the Rebels really like this winning thing so we think we will just keep on keeping on as the flow of talent just keeps on flowing.

  4. 55 get over it!

We have been listening to your attempts to excuse away the HD LOSS to Evadale for five weeks. Your posts can't and won't change the way the game came out, how the standings are or the FACT that the REBELS are the undefeated District 23A champs.

You will have to use this tired line for the next year! But it still won't change this year. I would suggest that you focus on HI and your first round playoff opponent and give this delusion a rest!

  5. This poll is like any other that does not have the teams playing each other.

I said earlier in the season, why don't we do one for each class, because. it is hard to compare different classifications. Hull beats Hardin early in the season, but Kountze beat Evadale. Is Hull better than Hardin, is Kountze better than Evadale. The only thing that is certain is both teams were better than the other on that night.

If you want accurate, check district stands up until playoffs, then you can check the bracket. It always happens that a high "ranking" team gets knocked off by a lesser team. By the rankings there is no way they should win, but they do! Take it a game at a time and if your team is playing in the middle of December then you will know just how good your team really is.

Congratulations to all the teams that are advancing in the playoffs. I personally hope that teams from our area bring home at least one division championship from each classification. Then the final final rankings could be really interesting.

Not to mention what it will do to the first poll in 2009!

  6. No ones games against SP count in the district standings.

SP could not guarantee that they could even field a team. They adjusted the schedule moving SP and HI to the first week of district play to give both schools the opportunity to get things together. HI did SP could not so all the games SP played were not able to count in the district schedule.

District records will be calculated on the six other games not seven including SP.

  7. Leroy, Leroy, Leroy

The CIA in Evadale is not the Central Intelligence Agency. It is the student Christian Club, (Christians in Action) and the reason they were announced at the game on Saturday is because they are trying to do something good, by helping some students in need down in Sabine Pass. This group is trying to raise $2000 to purchase 20 $100 gift cards that will be given to students in need to help them and their families get back on their feet after Ike.

The Student Council, that would be "SC", did a food drive that collected a lot of canned goods that will also be given to the Sabine Pass community.

Make fun of somethings if you like, but please leave students caring enough to help others in need alone.

There are already too many people that don't care about others this is something to be commended, not ridiculed!

  8. HI Cardinal

Are you sure that point deferential is the way to decide. I always thought that if it two teams there was a tie between two teams then the head to head battle winner would be the one to advance. I believe that your scenario only would have worked if HD had lost to WH and then HI would beat HD, then HD would have been eliminated.

But HD did not loose, and to be honest I don't believe that HI can beat HD. You have a game group of guys that I have commended for overcoming a great deal. But I just don't see and HI victory at all much less by 8 or more points.

  9. I think that some of you are counting games against SP in with the district standings. Due to the fact that the Sharks could not field a team when district started the games they have played did not count in the district standings. The Rebels are 6-0 and play the sharks this week so everyone else has their sixth game this week. No other team except Evadale has even played 6 district games.

Be sure that the record you are stating are in fact correct and if you have SP in those district records then you are incorrect. SP games were determined to be non-district if they could play and a bye if they could not.

  10. To answer Tram that would be HD in Div 1

For everyone else the Rebels in their undefeated run through district 23A scored 238 points just a hair under 24 per game while only allowing 55 for 9 points per game.

The Rebels still have a game left with SP on Thursday night which will allow the coaches to go scout their playoff opponent for the next week and set the date and place next Friday night.

I would also like to start the All District hype

District MVP - Justin Crain who averaged over 150 yards per game in a system that did running back by committee. He also had 4 games where he had at least two touchdowns per game.

(Runner up - the Evadale offensive line as they controlled every defense they played and allowed Crain and the committee the chance to pound it out)

Offensive Player of the Year - Micah Stringer who led the offense that controlled every game and while the Rebels did not pas  alot during district 1 out of 2 completions were for touchdowns.

Defensive Player of the Year - Terrance Willis who is the undisputed leader of the "Black and Blue Crew" that did not allow any team more than 20 points in a game a couple with 0 and who anchored the "CREW" that kept all six opponents to an average right around 100 yards of total offense.

There are some outstanding players on all the teams in our district, but this year, "to the victors goes the spoils!"

These will not be determined by any of us on this site and wont be decided until the coaches meet after all the teams are no longer playing, but this is my story and the "Rebels stuck it to it!"

  11. Well I did go to the parade this morning and one again the people who built floats did a great job. The pep rally went well and everyone got their trophies for their parade entries.

I am not here to talk trash to anyone, its not my style. I just like to be positive and pump up my community. If it makes someone feel better to dog me or Evadale, well if that floats your boat. It won't take one thing away from the season that the Rebels have had and hopefully will continue to have.

I will be at tonight's game and my voice will be heard urging the District Champion Rebels on to another victory.

  12. The Evadale Senior Class got the field ready for homecoming today. It looks great! This is a time honored tradition in Evadale and each year the senior class does their best to make the Battlefield look presentable to all the EX students returning home and to the visiting team.

This will be a special homecoming since the Rebels are district champs and hoping to remain undefeated in 23A and this is Evadale's 50th homecoming. I tell you again that if you have never seen the Evadale honecoming parade you owe it to yourself to be in Evadale early (to find a place to watch) to see the parade that starts at 10 AM.

Everyone is excited about the live broadcast of the game on SETX Sports.com. The Evadale CIA (Christians in Action) Club are also raising money through the end of next week to be able to present gift cards to Sabine Pass at next weeks game, thanks to Chester for the idea. If you would care to make a donation you can make them at the game tomorrow.

See everyone in Evadale and go Rebels!

Has anyone seen my dog? He does not bark you know!
