1.
went bank fishing last night.  Couldnt find trout any where.  Caught a few red and flounder but no a single trout!! GRRRR
After I caught them twice in a row the last few days, a couple of friends went out Saturday night and only caught two keeper trout. I guess the last few days of rain have again pushed them south. We sure have been getting a lot of rain in the last month. I like rain as much as the next guy but a break would be nice or maybe some small showers and not these gushers that we have been getting.
 2. In November.
A three base hit is a grand slam?  ;D
I have been catching a bunch of baby sand trout in a cast net.... and the specks have no problems eating their cousins. If I throw in the croaker and sand trout too maybe?   :/
I

 8.
People in the work force get tested so why not test teachers/coaches/admin and especially bus drivers.
That is true but in my mind, what an adult does to his own body is his business from an employment standpoint. As long as it does not interfere with his job or endanger the public I don't really care. Now with teachers/admin, etc., I can understand the performance aspect of it. The employee needs to show up and ready to do the job. From a law enforcement perspective, I understand the fact that it can be a crime but is it the business of a school district to be enforcing or investigating criminal law? Their business should be to make sure that their employees show up on time and ready to do their job. If a substance interferes with that then it is an issue and even with a legal substance like alcohol. Children/students are a different issue entirely. What we do or require from or for children to protect them in no way has any relation to what an adult employee does. It is not tit for tat.
 9.
I say continue the testing.  I am one of those that believes that the confirmed cases are so low because of the deterrent effect of the testing. The $1 million in scheme of things is not that big of a price tag when we are talking about the health of our young men and women.  In fact, that is an amount that should not even touch the taxpayers.  As discussed in an earlier thread, by the next re-alignment, Texas will have almost 200 more teams in the playoffs games, which amounts to about 100 more playoff games which the UIL gets 15% of the gross...and that is just football.  All other sports pay a portion of the gross in post-season games to the UIL.   Off of this alone, they have more than enough to pay for a testing program in Texas.
You are correct.

 11. They are back again tonight. I watched a couple of coworkers put a couple on the bank that were over 20" and a few other keepers by the time I left.

CRAP!
You would have loved it last night, especially if you just wanted to catch fish. I caught almost 30 and they were still hitting when I left.
live bait or soft plastics?
All of the above. I couldn't find much live bait but when I did find some, I lost it in less than a minute. I got tired of using the cast net. I finally caught the most on about a 2.5" shad looking lure that I had just bought at Academy. It looked about the right size, shape and color of the shad so I tried it. I am heading back for some more. Like flyfishing, match the hatch. Throw a bait at 'em that looks like what they are eating.
That is not funny if its your kid at QB :D
Maybe. If he is the 5th quarterback, he gets the win at LCM.  ;D
 15. You know, I guess for a forum anything is game for discussion but Nederland and LCM don't play for several months. It could almost as valid discussing their chances in the 2012 season.  :D

 17. The specks are moving back north again.. finally. I did a spur of the moment trip late Thursday night. I started fishing about 11:15PM and finished about 1:15AM. I took home 8 keeper specks with the biggest being a little over 18". I caught 16 others that were undersized or right at the 15" mark and I didn't want to chance it. [IMG][Hidden Content]]
I got out there about 10:45PM. I saw a couple of people fishing on the seawall.
were you the guy walking by yourself up on the shrimp dock in a blue uniform?
I never went to the docks, only to the seawall.
Someone told me Fiddler crabs or the  small crabs with ONE big pincher  are good bait.  Is this true and how much do they sell for.
They can be good for reds and drum as are any crabs. I have never heard of anyone selling them. Just catch them on the shore near where you fish. You can catch the usually seen blue crab and get the same results. According to how big of a fish you are going for, either crack it and fish with the whole big crab or shell it and use half of it or less for smaller drum and reds.
We're going out there tonight with lights hope there's not to much July fourth commotion near the water
After the fireworks show, I fished for about 20 minutes. I caught one at almost 18" and a couple of undersized ones. I couldn't see much moving where I was so I gave it up early.
 22.
Hows the water there? It's bad in the bay
I was okay I guess and not really muddy in the channel from all the rain. On Pleasure Island last night near the boat basin, we saw lots of fish exploding in huge schools of shad. We were at work and couldn't fish though. I saw one guy make a cast with a shad on his hook and in about 10 seconds he hooked one up but lost it by the bank. We left as it started to rain but we still saw them exploding in those schools of shad.
 23.
So, did anyone go fishing?
Nope. I fell asleep watching the television and didn't wake up until late.  ;D
