Why should PN-G change it's team name to the opossums? Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road.

As I have been saying for years now Little Cypers has a very special player that could be playing on the varisty if not now next year. Don't take my word ask some of the varsity coaches that have already noted his abilities.

Please describe the "chop block" that you saw and the refs seem to miss, so maybe the refs will better prepared to protect the players.

Look, Im honestly not trying to stir the pot. Just telling ya what I saw and this kid was chop blocking. If i could post a video i would.

Not sure wikipedia is where I would get information of a rule interpertation, so try this
http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/FR12.pdf
ARTICLE 3. A chop block is a high-low or low-high combination block by
any two players against an opponent (not the ball carrier) anywhere on the
field, with or without a delay between blocks; the “low†component is at the
opponent’s thigh or below (A.R. 9-1-10-I-V).
But the rule has been revised this year and I think most have a hard time to understand the differences. -

If you watch the entire video it show clips of other plays and it show players and coaches from both teams and the chain gang all standing on the line or on the field. This is a problem that I wish it was controled better. Coaches are given way too much freedom on this. I also feel the chain gang should be 2 yards off the sideline.
-
Judging by the video only how can anyone say the coach offered no assistance to the runner? The video ends before anyone has reacted to the hit. Not saying what he has done is right or wrong just I not willing to throw stones or punches from what I have seen. Question though had it been the players own coach would we be so free to press charges and take matters into our own hands just by looking at the video?
-
I bet he could see som playing time right now if they would let them.

I would like to congratulate Caleb and share some family news on his behalf. Simply because if you truly know Caleb he is a very quiet and humble kid. He has begun to receive recruitment letters as well as e-mails of interest from various schools. Such as Georgia Tech, Arizona, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M(tamu.scout.com) and last but not least Lamar. Caleb was injured Friday night by what I (DAD) consider to be a cheap shot(that was flagged) against Vidor. He is recovering well and was able to put some pressure on it today as he continues to get treatment on it. Thanks to all who care and those who have checked on him(friends and coaches). Thanks on behalf of the Malveaux's and may god bless you all. Sincerely Caleb's Proud Dad.

good to hear he's recovering well. i saw the block you are speaking of and was very disappointed that it occured. though it was illegal i can only hope it was not malicious. i recieved a similar hit my senior year and it put me out for 3 games. i am big on staying high on your block. i cant't stand to see someone get taken down low. my teeth grit everytime i see it because i remember what it felt like. hope he recovers 100% and continues on to Saturday afternoon games in the future. no doubt the young man is a very talented ball player.
If you could see it on film you will see the frustrations were building the plays prior to the block. Emotions are a hard thing to control. -
I will say this in the STJFL has advantage that the middle school don't and that is time spent with players. The STJFL teams may only have 20-25 players and 4-6 "coaches". Middle school may have 50+ players and only 4 coaches. With most of the reps given to the "A" team so some of the players get left behind.

Woodard's scheduling is terrible.
You play ULL then PVAM
Play Hawaii then Langston.
Play a tough one you have no chance in and then play a cupcake.
What has this team learned in their first three games?
What did we learn fans want to see their team win. So schedule easy games at home when you can.

I know it is not the end of the world type of stuff but IF a team is short on players and is not able to field a full team why not have the other team agree to play with 10 also. That way players get to play and it is not a huge advantage for the other team. Now I guess it would go down in the standings as a loss but atleast the players from both sides get to play.

I don't know what the eighth grade team did, but the seventh grade beat St. Annes eighth grade "B" team 30-0 this afternoon.

The cheap shot on the punter was on a kid that just turned 12
The player was flagged and asked to sit out the rest of the game. Coaches counseled the kid and I am sure he understands fully what he needs to do in the future. Both tems played well please do not make that one incident of poor judgement take away from the sport that kids play for fun. -
I would think that WOS could ask to "play up" in the large school bracket for the playoffs.
-
If the UIL does not govern post game activites. What is the thought on pre-game? I mean what would be done if the flag core goes nuts and tips a bus load of players over. What would be done then?

It was just a figure of speech. Point is you know what the penalty is... before you jump offside.. Really is it that funny i think not.

That's how I see it. -
Very well said.

To me anything that may prevent a very probable severe injury should be reviewed and steps taken for protection. I wish helmets gave better protection to the user and had a soft outer shell to lessen the blow to the other player. It's funny how few pro and college players use any pads or use modified pads on their legs because "it slows me down".
-
Come on were talking about kids playing. The way I see it this game gives about 50 kids more time to PLAY football per division (2 teams of about 25). I may be way off base here but how does this game hurt the STJFL or the pro-bowl?

This Saturday, 11-19-11 at Port Neches High School Stadium, the selected All-Stars from Nederland and Port Neches-Groves will face-off in a friendly but spirited contest in each of the four divisions (flag, peewee, junior, & senior). Come out and see some great football action.
Sorry I do not have the start times for each game.

Because fishing season lasts longer than the second weekend of November.

Good luck to all the teams/players still playing have fun and make us proud so us "grown-ups" have something to talk about.
-
I think some hate to play certain teams the first time.
