  1. OK, OK . . . it's another quarterback going to play baseball at the next level. But what a quarterback and look at the level we are talking ; UT, a college that is in the hunt for the title everyyear. Kirby brings his pitching skills along with his 1st base handling and batting skills to Texas. Imagine all of that and a fine QB all rolled into one package. Rumor has it that UT head baseball coach loves talented baseball players with football discipline and skills. No wonder UT sought out this senior to be so early. Good things do happen to good people and Kirby Bellow ( no "s" in Bellow folks) you deserve all you have worked so hard to accomplish. Congrats to you Kirb and to two very proud parents. see ya on the field, videoguy
  2. If I understand right, it is Stelly's 1000th game to announce (broadcast). Kogt has been broadcasting games for years before Mr Stelly ever worked at or bought the station. He did start his first broadcasting at the station while he was in High School. Hey business people, watch who you employ, they may turn out to be the NEW BOSS some day ;>) !!! I believe the Orange Leader still has a recent story detailing the history of Stelly and the KOGT broadcasts posted on their website. I talked to some at the 1,000th game which was WOS at Orangefield baseball field. With OF lack of pressbox facilities - actually none at all, many had been told that KOGT would not broadcast at Orangefield baseball because of this. The time keeper and scoreboard operator actually operate from the protected dugout. Anyway KOGT, Gary and his broadcast partner setup in the stands and broadcast from there. Yes, if you remember right, it did rain on everyone. What a committed trooper!! Kudos to the fans at Orangefield for trying to do the right thing and treating the broadcast special. A stenciled "1,000th Game" was painted on the field and Stelly was presented with a plaque to commemorate the special occasion. Now if only they would get a pressbox!!!! Keep up the broadcasts Gary Stelly; the fans, the community, and the kids love and appreciate you. see "ya on the field
  3. I don't know about best QB ever, but someone must have been pretty good to lead Nederland to a State title 50 years ago. Who was that quarterback that lead us to our only State Title? Betcha Bum and McKenzie remember! In the mid-60's, before that 20+ year drought to PN-G and 30 years before our present playoff series run there was Steve Stuart that took Big Ned deep into the playoffs and signed on at Baylor. Don't forget these Black & Gold Ghosts from the past. see 'ya on the field
  4. Gary Stelly, Gary Stelly. . . that name sounds familiar. Is he that radio station owner/announcer that broadcast all those Orange County games to the rest of southeast Texas? Wasn't he the one that stayed on the air during Rita and Ike; maintaining a constant source of information, hope, support for listeners in surrounding counties? Was that the guy Orange named Citizen of the Year - 2 years in a row!!!! , ? That the station owner that started that HUGE clothes drive for needy families in Bridge City and Orange? Can't be - one man doesn't have time to do all that, run a radio station 24/7, support the community, have a home life with that beautiful wife of his and broadcast over 1,000 games. You must be talking about some Orange County Superman, stand up businessowner, responsible sportsnut and full-time husband. Wait, that's him, the guy I know as my friend. Yeah, that's Gary Stelly and the Orange County area and SE Texas is dang lucky to have him around. see 'ya on the field Gary
  5. No one upset here and all positive input and feedback. We do regret that DVD does not have the visitor's side and the sideline closeups like the homeside, but several posters were right when they pointed out cable length is the limiting factor. We use 500' cables to get the shots that we do . 500 foot is "pushing the signal " limits pretty stout. We have tried sending a camera cable down the track, around the endzone and down the track again ( 800' +) but the picture was too degraded to use. We are also limited to pressbox sides of stadiums because of pressbox facilities for our announcers. Even though Ned has a visitor pressbox; we needed to stay on the home side because of the tie-in to the Big Video Board. Last but not least, wireless systems ( at least for one camera ). . . we tried to rent one from channel 6, 4, or 12; but they don't have them for the same reason we don't -- the expense. Another good point and input was about editing. We are shooting the game directly to DVD. NO editing or corrections can be made to the product. Basically the product is like "Live TV". When we do make mistakes, like our announcers saying someone's name wrong, it becomes part of the final product. I regret our audio and video mistakes and the taping is not perfect, but how else could one start making DVD copies of a game just minutes after it ends? Thanks to all coaches and teams that gave us typed rosters of players, in numerical order with first AND last names. Special thanks to Troy Jones and the league for the support and faith in what we try to accomplish in just a few hours time. Hats off to Ronnie Trahan and NISD for working so hard to get the video board up and running for the Super Bowl. Finally, a heartfelt thanks to all that took time to give feedback and input on the taping. It was a fun day for everyone ( especially our crew ) and we tried to put our best foot forward for all involved. Watch those replays once again and Merry Christmas to all.
  6. Ok, I might be sticking my neck out on this. Sheffield Productions was there on invite and support of the STJFL and we would like to be invited again next season. Viewers saw the product on the big screen and supporters bought DVDs ( thankyou very much ). What would you viewers and supporters like to see more of; or changed? Yes, everyone gets to play "Siskel & Ebert" here. The only thing I ask is. . . if you give us a "thumbs down" on anything, please try and praise us on something we did right or that you liked. We were your official video for the STJFL's Superbowl and we want to do whatever we can to be better. Cast those views and ballots - be gentle if you can.
  7. Has anyone heard if Fox is to broadcast the 5A games? I know the last few seasons they were carried live and repeated several times over the holidays. Haven't seen anything on these or the 4A championships being broadcast this year.
  8. I agree about the schools could never afford "to do it right". As for asking an extra referee to sit in the press box and be expected to see things that officials on the field can't . . . man I'm not real sure what kind of eagle-eyed official would qualify for that. Some of the AA and AAA stadiums with pressboxes only twenty rows up aren't too far away. What about the larger 4A and 5A schools with pressboxes where falcons nest? Even an extra official on sidelines would probably be too far away see something that is happening right in front of a field ref. Everyone seen the Central "fumble" photos yet? Those two or three photo frames are probably being shot from a pro camera shooting 4-6 frames a second. Way less than a 1/4 of a second between being down and a loose football. That is too much to close for any official on the spot to call, much less someone 100, 200 or 300 feet away. That's taking into consideration the ref even had the right angle to see the play. Just because a photog with a 200mm lens and a 12 meg camera had the angle doesn't mean anyone else was able to view it the same. My humble opinion. . . no high school replay for several reasons ( $, $, $, and more $ ) and the refs are doing the best they can and a fine job at that. See ya on the field
  9. Speaking for the Sheffield Productions crew that has been doing this for years every friday night . . . the Jumbotron is the easy part. Every game we roll 4 cameras with experienced operators hoping to get the best shot for the viewer. But to get THE shot, EVERY play that would show a replay referee the angle that might support or overturn a field call is mind boggling. The cost for the high school ( or stadium) would be experienced crew, multi-cameras, and replay equipment for the field. All of us have been spoiled and accustomed to the NFL and college games we view every week and the replays that go with them. I won't even touch on Monday or Sunday Night Football as the number of cameras used exceed the number of neighbors I have. Even the "low end" college games on ESPN or Fox, the number of cameras on sidelines alone will be anywhere from 4 to 5 cameras - at a minimum. That doesn't even count the "sky" cam( the one on wires) that all the big boys use, plus the additional elevated cameras. Ever wonder how some of those camera always seem to be in the right place all the time? Can you say expensive wireless? All these crew have several wireless cameras prowling and combing the sidelines. Are they that expensive? Let me put it this way. Occasionally I would like to rent one locally for a big game. None of the three local stations ; KBMT, KFDM and KBTV have one; as the rigs cost too much. I spoke of the cameras, but the crew needs to be a top consideration also. How many local stadiums have you been to that are using high school volunteers to mann the cameras? For the most part are these shooters delivering the shot needed for replay consideration. Nothing against HS students. Half our crew started with us as HS or even middle school students, but they were brought along and coached by older experienced camera operators. I know, I know. I went from a HS replay setup to explaining how the replay is taped at all the other levels. All I can say is cameras, cameras, cameras and the crew and equipment to go with them. What school district is going to make this expensive decision? The replays we deliver for our high school broadcasts are for the viewer, the athletes involved and are fun to see again in slow motion. That concept is great, but the idea of the responsibility of catching every play from all conceivable angles is scary and very expensive. See ya on the field.
  10. Glad you enjoyed last year's video. Thank you for the nice plug. DVDs are are still $25 ( tax included ). DVDs will be ready for pickup ASAP after each game. For an additional $5.00 P/H; the DVD will be mailed to whatever address you wish . . . proud grandparent, favorite uncle, out of town family, whoever. See ya on the field.
  11. Sheffield Productions will be at Bulldog Stadium for Superbowl weekend. All three games will be taped and DVDs available for purchase and take home that same day. Full crew, including our traditional 4 camera setup and replay capabilities, will be on hand to capture entire game and highlights for a DVD that will become a treasured family keepsake for years to come. All of you ex-jocks out there . . . what would you give to have professional footage, commentary and replays of your early sports ventures? Since 1985, Sheffield Productions has taped local sports and made video copies available for purchase. This weekend will be another chance to have a "moment in time captured" of your young athlete. NISD has requested the company that services the video board to have it repaired by this weekend. Hopefully the company will be able to fix the board and have it ready to showcase these Super Bowl games. The same video, including replays, that goes on the DVDs will be shown on the board for everyone's enjoyment at the game. We wish to thank STJFL for again asking us back and to wish all teams the best of luck Saturday. See ya on the field.
  12. What kind of Bulldog supporter would try and start a QB controversity 2 games into the playoffs? Tyler Smith has great potential, but he has been on the JV ALL SEASON for a reason. His turn will come, but as long as Kirby is healthy - the starting job is his; and rightly so. Where on earth do you come up with " no threat to run and gets panicky with least bit of pressure"? Instead of just throwing out one person's opinion and catch phrases, why not look at a district leading QB with solid numbers and low Interceptions. Numbers that show a calm QB in the backfield checking off receivers until an open one is found. Week in and week out, Kirby has proven himself and deserves to be at the helm Sat. Do you really think Neumann is going to dump two seasons of varsity experience for someone with less than 30 minutes under the Friday night lights. Tyler did look good and the potential is certainly there, but it's not his time. NHS83LU87 is right: " sounds like someone with and axe to grind. This whole thread is ridiculous " Consensus here. . . Kirby's team utill he can't go.
  13. OMG, I actually stirred up a Bob West-Bob West defender. And you are totallly right, the word it's was spelled incorrectly as apposed to I's and after two seasons and 11 or 12 games, Bob West-Bob West finally did pronounce Asa Cardenas right. Any bets on what he does Friday? I only pointed this out because so many in this community go around really thinking Bellow is Bellows and I'm sure that is a big disappointment to him on a daily basis. No different than me addressing you as bulldawgs64; I guess. By the way do you holler at everyone like you type or just DON'T KNOW WHERE THE CAPS KEY IS?
  14. I's Bellow . . . . no "s". I know it's just an innocent mistake, but it's the equalivant to listening to Bob West - Bob West say our receiver's name wrong EVERY game. And you know how everyone loves that mistake.!!! Besides, with or without the "s", the boy has the heart of a lion in a bulldog body. IF he is able to play, he will be 100% total personification of Bulldog spirit and attitude. On and off the field Kirby Bellow has his head on his shoulders correctly and kudos to Mr & Mrs for doing the right thing the last 16 years on raising him in an athlethic world where heads and attitudes are turned so easily. If the knee is not ready and physically holds him back, then yes, Smith looks to be ready to take his place. Good luck to Mr Bellow and Mr Smith ; as one has a position to fill and another has big shoes to fill. I have faith in both of you Proud of all the Bulldogs, players and coaches for getting us to the 2nd round.
  15. Encouraging note. One has stepped up here in Mid-county with a couple of others interested. For anyone wishing to sponsor or help ; 5 - $100 sponsors are needed to help with production costs. For the $100, sponsors will be mentioned several times during each game on the DVD. If the business has a commercial, it will be aired as part of the production. Still need 3- 4 more businesses to help make this happen.
  16. Coop, is there audio to go with the complete game video? I am just getting video.
  17. LMAO, OMG I was thinking - just how old are you dude? And then I get to the memory part. Still laughing at this end for the post and the memories. Thanks for keeping this board at the next level, that of enjoyment and tongue-in-cheek. Let's all watch a game this week and see if any future "Sugarland Expresses" or "Gallopin" Ghosts" are out there.
  18. My apologies for the confusion. A member of the Lonestar board gave us ( Sheffield Productions ) the greenlight to showup, tape and sell DVDs using the full capabilities of our experienced crew and resources. Unknown to either of us, another member of the board had already approved someone else to tape and sell copies of the game. I believe it bad timing and just lack of communication causing the confusion. I truly wish we could be there, as I have no idea the level of expertise or production that the other individual brings. Maybe next year we can be considered. If anyone would like a copy of what we are capable of : PM me and I will send them a DVD of what we did for STJFL's 2007 Superbowl weekend. We have been invited back and confirmed for this year's STJFL play-offs and 2008 Superbowl. Goodluck to all involved and sorry for the confusion
  19. Sheffield Productions has been booked to tape both 1st round play-offs ( Nov 22 )and the Superbowl ( Dec 13 ) at Bulldog Stadium. Just like last season; use of Bulldog's big screen video board has been approved and DVDs will be sold and made that day. Sheffield Productions experienced multi-camera crew and multi-view replay capabilities along with anouncers Charlie Jehlen and Danny Bellow will be on hand to do the honors. We would looove to be at both sites on Nov 22. Because of crew and equipment limitations, we will only be able to tape the games at Bulldog Stadium. A little background education on our "crew" and the reasons for limitations. A typical football shoot consists of a 10 -12 person crew with the following positions: director, tech director, 3 - 4 camera operators, 2 replay operators, 1 audio person, and a highlights editor. All that in a trailer stuffed with video equipment. Don't forget personnel for DVD sales and duplication. Next season we are working on crew and equipment solutions to enable us to cover two high school games on Friday nights. That would also allow us to shoot play-offs at two locations, but that's a year and a "wish" away. Anyone know any "Santas" out there??? We are being considered for the round of play-offs ( Dec 6 ) at WO-S, but still need some businesses or sponsors to help make that taping possible. It is not expensive at all to be a sponsor for these games. If you are in a position to help on this, please PM me or call Erick Guillory . With his permission, I will give out Erick's phone #. Last year's Superbowl was a fun experience for all and we are pleased that STJFL has asked us back. Good luck to all players still in the play-offs . . . "see ya at Jerry Mallory Field ( Bulldog stadium) ".
  20. can't wait! do you know how much? not that it really matters, I'm gonna buy one anyway but my lil mustang has a lot of family members who are equally proud of him and even better for the company, a lot the them live in California so they don't get to come to the games and have to rely on just pics and now, a video. I can let them know ahead of time and get the dough in hand for when we order. DVD videos are $25 and will be available for pickup ASAP after each game. Anyone wishing DVD to be mailed will be asked ( very politely though ) additional $5 P/H ( tax included on all DVDs ). thank you already!!!!!
  21. Sheffield Productions has been booked to tape both 1st round play-offs and the Superbowl at Bulldog Stadium. Last year's Superbowl was a fun experience for all and we are pleased that STJFL has asked us back. Good luck to all players still in the play-offs . . . "see ya at Jerry Mallory Field ( Bulldog stadium) ". The way I understand, the video will only be availble for games played at Bulldog Stadium. Yes, videos will only be for the games played at Bulldog Stadium. It takes the whole crew ( two announcers, 2 replay operators, audio guy, camera operators, highlights editor, tech director and director )to do the game properly. . . plus all that nice equipment tucked away in the trailer. We just do not have the resources to be in two locations at the same time. Typical football shoot incorporates 10 - 12 man crew, with additional personnel for DVD duplication and sales. This is a problem we are concerned about and are we are working on a manpower and equipment solution to field two production crews for next season's High School games and a way to do justice to play-off situations like this. My crew also wants a larger trailer and graphics. Any "Santas" out there?
  22. Sheffield Productions has been booked to tape both 1st round play-offs and the Superbowl at Bulldog Stadium. Last year's Superbowl was a fun experience for all and we are pleased that STJFL has asked us back. Good luck to all players still in the play-offs . . . "see ya at Jerry Mallory Field ( Bulldog stadium) ".
  23. Correction to previous posts. Yes, games are to be recorded, but Sheffield Productlions will not be there. Unknown to officials that booked us, someone else had been secured to tape the tournament already. For those reading these posts and following these games; Sheffield Productions will be taping two of the STJFL tournaments in coming weeks. That is confimed as we taped for them last year and were invited back. Please consider us for next season's playoffs. Good luck to all players this weekend.
  24. DVDs are $25 each ( tax included ). DVDs ready at end of each game. For $25 plus $5.00 P/H, Dvds will be mailed. Cash, Checks, postal or money orders accepted. Sorry, not set up for plastic.
  25. All 6 playoff games for the Lonestar Superbowl at Silsbee will be taped and DVDs made available for proud parents and fans. Sheffield Productions will be there with full crew, multi-camera and replay capabilities. DVDs of each game will be sold and ready for takehome as the DVD duplication will be done at the stadium. Coaches, please have a copy of your roster with #s and full names of players available for our play by play and color guys that will be operating out of the pressbox. The last hurdle was cleared to enable the production crew to be there when MIke Scully of Apple Towing stepped foward and made the commitment to help fund the tapings. Special thanks to Mike for helping make this happen. These game DVDs of the young players will be a family keepsake for years to come. Congrats and good luck to all teams that will be there.
