I think its funny how "us" keyboard Joe's analyze a HS game where kids are performing at a fairly high level, but kids nevertheless, but then when criticize a coaching staff about how the kids executed -- like oh they should have done this, or that or I never would have done that in that situation, etc. Same team mind you is 4 rounds deep and on the way to Jerry's world, but we're on here talking about where they made mistakes or not. Agreed. I like Bellville by 13+ in this game. My Carthage Bulldogs will be ready for Gilmer on Friday. Next week is essentially a warm up game for Bellville, should the Brahmas cruise on over to Arlington as well.

The coaches/players of the by far and away district champion get hosed in these awards every year. There's girls on the bench in 7th grade at BH middle school who are more deserving of "all district selections" than some of these at various schools. And for the life of me, I can't fathom a "coach of the year award" going to a school who didnt win the DC ? But its 2023, so everybody gets a trophy.

I think I should have simply asked, when was the last time a 'non-playoff team" defeated a district champion, in southeast texas?

Anahuac defeated Kirbyville. Anahuac did not make the playoffs. Kirbyville won this district championship. When was the last time this happened in any district in southeast Texas. I'm sure its happened but I can't think of a scenario where it has.
