There is sports psychology to all this. Last year Silsbee had some solid seniors. They had Baltrip who could jump and rebound.  They had Gilder who hustled and hit  timely 3s.  Then they beat Yates.  Yates was making it on name inflation.  they were good but not as good as their ranking.  The tigers beat them and we enter this season # 2.  Maybe they really should be # 4 or # 6.  We beat some then ranked 6A teams and the teams confidence is high.  We were confident enough to beat Madison on our turf.  Then we come to the DISD tournament in Dallas.  Dallas is like the Mecca of high school ball.  There's talent all over the state.  BU proved that.  Still, there is basketball mindset in the Dallas area that is like no other area.
Then you play Carter.  You get behind but you can't comeback and beat them.   At that point the team is down, not depressed but sort of questioning themselves.  But they really didn't have time to recover cause they got beat soundly by Bishop Lynch at 6pm that same evening, yesterday.  They beat Wilmer Hutchins only to play Madison again.  They came back and beat Mad. before in Beaumont but this time they are in Dallas.  D Madison is out to settle the score.  
So now the tigers go home.  Get some rest.  Get some practices in and start district play.  They should be wiser and stronger.  They should easily make the playoffs.  How far do they go?  Who knows?

If/when Argyle breaks into a run & press that is a sure sign to read the book or revelation.

No internet then, game was broadcast on KKAS.  Heard of them lately? or at all? KJET was playing Hey Joe by some guy named Hendrix.  I heard and seen tigers like Manuel Tyler, Ralph Davenport, Rob Shelton, Mark Yawn, Tim, (can't remember his name. Charlottes friend back in high school), Rufus Cook, the late Larry Irvin MD, J Hunter, David Brown, Mike Dabney, who had he not blown out his knee might have made it to the NBA. He was that good.  I appreciate all the talent and work sweat it took to win those rings.  In every championship a little serendipity plays a small part.  It's in the dictionary, look it up.

Silsbee battled with Carter and Carter has as much height as Washington. I don't know if any of their bigs are as good as BT's Lewis. So I feel a bit more confident should those two teams square off.

Somebody from Center tweeted something like 'happiness is beating the #1 team then going on Christmas break'.
Silsbee tweeted back, in March: 'happiness is winning state then going on spring break.'

I am pleasantly surprised they have played as well as they have against a tough non district schedule, thus far.  This team rallys around their coaches and two team leaders Harris and Miller. The latter puts down a dunk & the whole team comes off the bench and onto the court to celebrate with him.  That is a good sign.  The DISD tourney will be interesting.  I am confident they will give it their best.  That's all you can ask.

Reaction to omicron variant.

I purposely stuck an IMO in what I tweeted, So it is subjective.  It is a bigger game because none of the teams mentioned are 4A teams.  Silsbee plays those teams and they beat all but one, they get some self satisfaction and get to stay 2nd in the polls.  The Tigers probably won't face those teams again this year on the court. It won't be like that in this game because they may  they face them again for bigger stakes in the playoffs. If Silsbee wins the thought is out there 'can I beat em again in the playoffs?'  If they lose to HJ the polls may shift a little.  A lil doubt rises, maybe.  'Can we figure this team out if we play them again in the playoff?'  
Last year these teams played early when a lot of Silsbee's players were still playing football.  If I remember correctly  HJ beat Silsbee by double digits.  This year this game happens as both teams are almost peaking.  This should be a very good game.

Bottley made five 3 pointers. Probably had around 20 points.
Haynes played but he wasn't his usual self at all. May take a few games for things to start to feel right.
Still don't know the exact status of our 6`4 freshman. Haven't seen him since the injury. Hopefully he can come back and get some games under his belt later in the year.
 

The thing about this team is you just dont see anyone taking plays off.  Everyone seems to give it everything all the time.  Then you have the Miller and Harris who can both get to the rim at pretty much anytime and can shoot the deep ball.  Add that to Haynes and Bottely who can both light it up from deep and get to the rim.  The bench has a bunch of speed and defense as well as some that can definitely get hot and shoot the ball.  
But to me the biggest thing so far this year has been the play of Williams down low, he is playing like he is probably 6 inches taller than he is and playing with the strength of an ox. Not to mention numerous times of jumping those passing lanes and making a big steal!  Things are going to be pretty interesting the next few years in Tiger land.  Especially if we can get those big freshmen to become producers and then add the possibility of getting Jones back next year….

The average guard that tries to push around Miller is in for a rude awakening.

I think the coach takes out 5 starters so the team can apply pressure throughout the game.  Back in the halcyon days a few years ago when the Tigers went to state several times straight Sigler used that strategy a lot.  He would have the luxury of having 3 sets of 5 players. He would bring five in and out all the time. The games would be kinda close in the first half. Next you know the opposing teams would be tired and the result would be a 40 piece blowout.  IMO that's the method to what coach is doing.

Silsbee trending in the right direction, but BU is capable of beating them by 25.  No shame in that, either.  If Silsbee wins it’ll be a shocker, with or without arceneaux

Player attempted that swing around dribble move, not in control.  BU stole the ball blind side, and took it the other way for a lay up.   It happens.  Ball handling is a hard to master skill, almost an art form.

BU dominated the paint w/o Arceneaux.  With him also in the game...I don't want to think about it.

Silsbee is probably tired.  Too many games lately.  Too many missed shots and FTs.

My bad for being critical of the young man. I literally just found out he existed yesterday. I watched the WB v Silsbee game online.  I did not know or notice him.  He talks about his faith a lot.  I like and respect that.   He is graduating early so he is smart.  You can't teach 6'9".  Somebody will give him a chance. A lot of scouts will.  Lamar could use some height.  Nothing wrong with being tall and a good student.  There is definitely more to life than being a PF or SF who wrecks things on court.  And that may happen as well.

They should have added more guards to their shopping list, lol.

Lubbock Estacado won 3A state that year.  3A then is 4A now.

This is just tournament season.  The playoffs & the state tournaments are going to be awesome.

Ok, there is a long way to go this season.  But these more than impressive wins are stacking.  I really thought this team would make a run this year but was a year or so away from seriously challenging for another ring.   I think at a minimum we’ve all been put on notice that they have those intentions this year.  Wow.
