SILSBEE!!!

Should I put on my Silsbee sweatshirt and show up in independence heights?  Nah, I might get hurt.

Silsbee has been the class of 4A basketball in Texas for over a decade.  Yates is probably next.  Argyle has been really good as well. Dallas has had some really good teams obviously, but none have been as consistently dominant.  Silsbee is the cream of the crop imo.

When nobody posts that's usually a bad sign.

It's not just coverage. it is that big city teams can do what they want.  They collude during off season. Transfer protocol is much easier than it has ever been.  A coach can put together a state team in no time.  
You let some 6'8" wing men with a jumpers show up in Silsbee & see what happens.

Silsbee has beaten HISD schools many times.  They beat Sheldon ISD (channel view, summerset, CE King,  BT Washington?) Cy Fair ISD teams, Brazosporrt teams.  Still no respect.
A lot of BT Washington players transferred from CE King, and Humble.  That's why they put homeboy on talking about his family are alumni.  Slick. 

Silsbee is getting no respect in H Town, as usual.
 
 

None of the players on that team come from Independence Heights, or Studewood, the area around BT Washington.  At least none of the players that matter. Kenneth Lewis transferred in from CE King.  Their best guard came from Humble.  McDermott from Heights aka Reagan.  That team is basically a Greater Houston all star team.  But the UIL lets it slide.  I wish I knew what really happened at Westfield.

I've been in & around Houston for 66 years. I went to Lamar Fleming middle school one year.  I heard too many horror stories about EO Smith. I would of stay at the old Silsbee Jr High than go to EO Smith.  I don't know much about the new charter  
schools although I was a big fan of US Rep Mickey Leland; cried like a baby when he died.  I don't need no play of movie by a CME pastor to tell me the educated have been leaving places like 5th ward.  I lived it.  

Washington has a magnet engineering program. There school was recently rebuilt.  All that is in their favor.  Yates was recently rebuilt.  They have their commonications dept.  Those other schools?  I've never seen Furr up close.  All these years and I don't know that area at all.  I just know it exists.  Worthing, Kashmere?  Most of the good students and athletes probably left.  Both schools have produced great students and athletes in the past.  And that is where they stay, in the past.  I know some professionals that came from Kashmere: teachers, preachers, petroleum engineers, computer scientists, etc.  I am seeing faces that I know.  Mickey Leland?  That is a new school.  I don't know where it is.  What does this have to do with this topic?  Everything.  The schools with something going for them may have a vibrant athletic program.  The schools that are struggling are just marking time athletically.

Silsbee has to hit FTs, eliminate errors, block out.  Lewis likes to sneak in from the outside.  Block out McDermott as well.  

I'll keep going back to the fact that Silsbee has been there, done that. These kids and coaches have that big game experience and are prepared. Even though Washington has two players that have been on the big stage in summer ball, I just think the overall program that Silsbee has established these last 20+ years comes into play when you get deep in the playoffs. This group at Silsbee are pretty special and they grew up quickly last season reaching the regional finals for the 5th time in last 6 years and 11th time in last 17 seasons. Point being this is what is somewhat expected of them and I believe they will rise to the occasion.
Washington may have the two best players but I believe Silsbee will compensate that with coaching, depth and big game experience. Besides, Harris and Miller are no slouches.

Everybody mentions BT Washington's McDermott, but their other post Lewis is their best and their go to player.  

When Silsbee won the middle school championship in Houston he hit one.  He hit one against Summertree back in November.  He hit this one. Could be another one I don't remember.  
Some players just got that big time player vibe.  They have the legendary stuff going for them: they're humble, they make the big plays, hit the winning shots, make good grades, don't say much about it.  Harris is a star too. When a team and coaching staff got one like that you put the ball in their hands and let them take you as far as they can. 

Nothing changed significantly.  FF is still the elephant in that room.

I was at that game when Boulwen got hurt. It was against Episcopal in that 2nd showcase the day after thanksgiving.  He was in a lot of pain. I'm glad it was not a season ending injury, so that he can play again this season.

The tigers need a nice quiet but strong run through district.  No injuries no suspensions, none of that.  Then roll the playoffs ready.
